The Signing of the Concordat: The Empire of Loago, a new status, a new peace for Himyar

Representatives of the Government in exile of Saaremaa, led by the famous dissidents Koit Sokk and Kristijan Sisask, together with his Royal Majesty, Alvar V Tamm of Saaremaa have meet with the authorities of the state of Loago, represented by General of the Loago Host, Mihkel Vaino and representatives of the Fante and Wala peoples, the mayor of Maseru, Aleksander Chanzenza for the Wala people and with Chief Bakome the leader of the Fante Nation movement. The summit, held in the capital city of Maseru had a great importance for the future of the state of Loago, which was facing grave threats from inter-ethnic conflict between Wala and Fante, to Marxist-Leninovist insurgency in the extreme north-east of the country and also fears of the Saare and Ivernian minorities that Engellex would move in to seize the country after the fall of Saaremaa and it's degeneration into a military dictatorship with Marxist-Leninovist policies.

In the last months, the authorities of Loago fought a low-intensity anti-terrorist war against extreme-right wing Fante Nation and against the Kadikistani aligned Marxist-Leninovist Loagin League of Communists. The soldiers of the Loago Host have managed to push the communist rebels out of their last stronghold in the north-east and thus liberated the city of Filabusi. The Loagin League of Communists has thus became a rural based band of thugs that terrorize the north-east and are slowly pushed towards the shores of the Mweru Wantipa Lake from which they have to other way of escape but to surrender. The Fante Nation movement never had the success of the communists and never managed to take hold of any city, even though the city of Que Que was full of supporters of their movement. Until now around 600 have died since the death of PM Jaak Manyika, most of them being Wala civilians that were killed by Fante militians. The war saw the development of Loago nationalism in a more accelerated level than ever before, even with the whole anti-tribalism policies that were in function during the Dominion days. The war is seen by both Fante, Wala and Saare as futile and has created a rift between the majority who call themselves modernists and who support the creation of a stable and powerful Loago for everyone, and the so called traditionalists, who still want a return of the old days in which the tribe was the most important social construct. The Wala people have also turned very much against the actions of the League of Communists and even important left-wing philosophers like Adisa Ekua have called the LLC as being "nothing more than a right-wing tribal band of criminals who use communist rhetoric to receive support from Kadikistan". As King Mihkel III Tamm said when Loago was nationalized and became a Protectorate of the Saare Crown following abuses from the Saare Himyari Company: ""Let us see the truth behind words, and act accordingly", it seems very much that the people of Loago have grown weary. The experience with communism in Saaremaa have given them a bitter taste and now they are ready to fight to keep the red pest away from their country.

In this atmosphere the summit of Loago has taken place. King Alvar V Tamm, has opened the discussions with a slight adaption of his great grandfather's famous quote: "Let us see the truth behind hate and act to bring peace". In the Concordat that was signed this Friday in Maseru, the status of Loago has been completely changed. It is hoped that it will bring peace and stability in the country and in the continent as a whole and it will end a series of constitutional reforms that has plagued the country since Jaak Manyika wanted to create an autocracy based in Maseru. From now on, Loago has become an Empire in which the Wala, Fante and Saare are all equal citizens before the law. The head of state of the Empire of Loago is the holder of the Crown of the North and it has a common head of state with the Kingdom of Saaremaa. Role of the head of the government will be held by a triumvirate made of the representatives of the Saare, Wala and Fante peoples. Each ethnic group will elect it's representative in it's own way, the Saare and Wala through direct votes, while the Fante representative will be a tribal leader elected from the Council of Tribes. From an administrative point of view, the "Deep South" region will be broken from the authority of Maseru and will be organized as a series of Tribal Trust Lands in which the Wala and Fante people who still wish to live by their old traditions can still do it while also having opened to them the road to modern life. Currently the Fante will have 3 Tribal Trust Lands based around the city of Que Que, while the Wala will have 2 Tribal Trust Lands, north of the city of Bulawayo.

King Alvar, together with Kristijan Sisask and Koit Sokk have put pressure for a more inclusive administration, education and defense of the new Empire of Loago. The Loago Host has thus been officially disbanded and replaced by the Imperial Army which will be more heterogeneous. When the Host organized the coup against the dictator Jaak Manyika, It was made of 80% Saare and Ivernian people, while 18% were Wala and only 2% were Fante. Now the recruitment offices have been reopened for the natives too and the objective is to have the army made of 60% Wala people, 15% Saare and Ivernian people and 25% Fante people, the percentage coming from the total population percentages in the last census held in Loago in 1948. Koit Sokk argued that the same must be done with education, especially in the University of Loago, Maseru Polytechnic, Maseru University of Medicine and the Bulawayo University. To support the education of the Wala and Fante Peoples, the Imperial Government will also impose quotas to have at least 60% of the students enrolling in the next year coming from Wala and Fante families. This new rise in student numbers will come from the reduction in education fees and the rise of budgeted places at the universities. This will also call for investments to expand the student campuses.

"We are very happy that we have made peace with the Fante Nation and we have managed to make the Wala people turn away from the criminal band that is the League of Communists. We will make Loago a free state for everyone built after the principles of Prometheism. We have officially declared it an Empire to show it's new, prestigious status. Loago will become which will work tirelessly together with the Empire of Pelasgia and the Engell States to keep the status quo in Himyar and to contain the communist presence in the continent. We hope that we can have warm relations with them," declared Koit Sokk.

"The Democratic Republic of Kadikistan refuses to recognize the legitimacy of the Concordat and thus the legitimacy of both the reactionary forces who proclaimed the Kingdom of Saaremaa and the Loago Host which has been reformed into a self-proclaimed 'empire'. Class struggle in Loago is far from over even with the reactionary forces led by class traitor Koit Sokk and other social-capitalists artificially keeping the promising nation in a backwards state. The Loagin League of Communists still enjoys the full moral and political support of the Kadikistani State, the Rurikgrad Pact and the International Association of Marxist-Leninovist Parties. Furthermore we reject all accusations of banditry and ideological deviation, considering them nothing more than reactionary propaganda. The revolutionary leader Jaak Masimba will continue to lead the LCC on the path towards the final victory and the abolishment of capitalism with the People's Republic of Saaremaa under the brilliant guidance of General Roman Becker serving as the prime example of such a success.

The 'Empire of Loago' is a farce and the claims that it would be ethnically inclusive are preposterous. Even if the Ivernish or Saare colonists make up only 15% of the total Loagin Colonial Force, we will only find them in the officer corps. Equal representation is pointless as long as the nation is run by a small clique of power hungry Scanians. The people of Loago and supporters of true communism are wise and learned enough to see through this charade and see the social-economic and political realities that lie in both the past and the immediate future of the Fante an Walla people's. The only logical and durable solution for the oppressed people of Loago is to fight for independence and emancipation, guided by the teachings of the thriving Marxist-Leninovist doctrine. The fight must be led by the vanguard that is the LLC and its courageous and fearless leader, lest it will fail with dramatic consequences for the Loagin proletariat."

The Imperial Government, with the approval of the Koinovoulio and in the name of His Imperial Majesty, hereby recognises the Empire of Loago as a sovereign, legitimate, and democratic state. The Pelasgian Empire shall not, currently, recognise the authority of the nascent state's authorities over the sovereign state of Saaremaa. Whilst appalled at the bloody terror of the current Communist regime of Saaremaa, the Pelasgian Empire cannot, at the moment, recognise the sovereignty of the Loago Government over a state which the Empire currently recognises as separate and sovereign. Whether that will remain so, remains to be seen. We look forward to working with the Empire of Loago towards the development of peace, stability, and prosperity in Himyar, maintaining the Status Quo while holding the spread of Communism back.

Students take to the streets after they hear of the Loago Concordat

After hearing of the Prometheist revival and the pacification of Loago with the Concordat, students born in the Himyari state have taken to the streets in celebrations for the newly proclaimed "Empire". The Wala and Fante students were joined by Saare people on the streets and the celebrations have degenerated into demonstrations and riots against the socialist government led by Roman Becker. Supporting Green-White-Green, Red Monarchist and Prometheist Purple flags, the protesters started to shout anti-communist slogans, called for the return of the Monarchy and for the disappearance of all Kadikistani elements from Saare soil. There have also been graffiti drawn on buildings representing Becker hanged or the hammer and sickle being thrown into the trash can, or Nikolai Leninov giving a fatherly kiss to Becker.

The Authorities have intervened, the Department of State Security sending a company of revolutionary guards to pacify the demonstrators. There have been reports of the protests transforming into riots, the demonstrators starting to throw rocks against the policemen and the guards. General Secretary of the Communist Workers' Party and General of the Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army, Roman Becker, who is currently in a state visit to Kadikistan to discuss the plans for the creation of the Rurikgrad Pact has been informed of the riots taking place in Kuressaare and he has delegated Brigadier Tiitus Laht, the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards to take control of the Lounamaad RIA and to do everything necessary to keep the situation under control. General Becker will not interrupt his visit in Ivar. A curfew has been declared by Tiitus Laht and by 9 pm everyone has been ordered to leave the streets with the possible consequences of arrest if not even being shot if they are to be found on the streets.

Similar demonstrations have taken place in other towns of Saaremaa too, like in Kerdla, Raasiku, Imavere and Loksa but none degenerated into riots and street fights, like in Kuressaare. In the capital of the Pohjamaad region, Imavere, the demonstrators have vandalized a police section in the city, but Marshall Hendrik Soosaar, the military commander of Pohjamaad ordered the authorities to refrain from entering into fights with the demonstrators.

The People's Assembly has voted at the beginning of this week the "Bill to liberate Saaremaa from religious influences". The Bill proclaims the de-Christianization of Saaremaa and it's "liberation from the Tibur Cabal that is leading the catholic nations from the shadows". Practically, the new laws declare that Christmas is no longer a national holiday and it's public celebration has been outlawed. Thus, the 25th and the 26th of December have been declared workdays now and they will be replaced in the next year with two free days to celebrate the Internal Settlement, calling it the Day of Revolution. The Bill also outlaws Santa Claus and has it replaced with Granddad Frost, who brings gifts to children on the new year's eve.

The Navy will organize military exercises in the Thaumantic Ocean

The Revolutionary Insurrectionary Navy will organize a series of military exercises in the northern Thaumantic Ocean. The scope of the exercises is to be sure that the Saare sailors and their ships are ready to fight in the worst environments, especially arctic ones. A part of the Gothic Sea fleet will take part in the exercises. The fleet is headed by the flagship of the Saare fleet, the Battleship SNS Noita. Accompanying it are two frigates and three destroyers. ​

General Reese Bivin speaks of his support of the Celtic Union and of the Iron Wall: "I do hope that there will be no peace in Cumbria as long as there is an independent and communist Milesia and no peace in Milesia as long as there is a People's Republic of Cumbria."

Loagin and Pelasgian singers have come together to publish a charity album called "Music from Himyar's Empires", all the income from the selling of the album will be donated to charities supporting orphaned children in Cumbria.

The north burns, but the White Army continues it's resistance. A new issue telling the glorious stories and adventures of the Woad Snipers, who fight deep behind enemy lines.

Pennsans is under attack. The powerful communist offensive attacking the free capital of Cumbria is still underway. The eastern neighborhoods of Roue Andras and Ker have been taken by elite Kadikistani troops, while their thralls attack the center of the city. The battle has reached a dead end in which both the white soldiers and the communists have clearly delimited their regions of the city and have entrenched.

The Cumbrian Republican Army signed an alliance with the White Army and has begun it's fight for the liberation of the south, fighting a guerrilla war in the Roazhon Mountains.

Free authorities release the first numbers regarding the casualties made in the Cumbrian Liberation War. Soldiers: 11,660 KIA or MIA, 20,568 WIA. Civilians: 8,980 KIA or MIA, 17,020 WIA and more than 300,000 displaced.

Ivernian refugees prefer to join the socialist militias than to wait and see their new home be transformed in a second fascist Ivernia. The RIA has been joined in it's fight by the newly formed Ivernian People's Battalions, fighting now along the Becker Line.

Government organizes the Committee for Political and Social Improvement to organize a treaty of Cumbrian unity at the end of the Anti-Social Capitalist War and to reform the constitution to create the Third Cumbrian Republic.

Roman Becker: "The End of the War also brings the end of the war communism and the liberalization of the politics, now that the people understood the menaces of Social Capitalism and Corporatism. The essence of the first republic will be brought once the people is safe and the war is over."

Representatives of the people's government have met with Credan mab Locryn, the main leader of the Left Prometheists and the Republicans after the fascist coup d'etat in Pennsans and negotiated his surrender and the alignment of his units to the loyalist army and the Revolutionary Guards. He will be acquitted of his previous accusation of betrayal.

The head of the Kern bandits terrorizing Votadinia has been killed by Sergei Moravscik, a Kadikistani hero.

Army offensive in Maetia liberates Din Rheged. The front moved up to 100 km north of the Becker Line.

A march for peace took place in Naoned and Truru. It was organized by the Communist Party in cooperation with the trade unions.

The Ivernian volunteers raise the morale of the loyalist soldiers with their tales of valor from the Maetian front.

More and more people swarm at the army recruiting offices to join. The government also announces that three more Revolutionary Guards battalions are formed in Naoned.​

Arvor Peninsula liberated. The Kerns loyal to Cumbria have continued their offensive and liberated the capital, Roz an Arvor.

Thousands of prisoners liberated from the Arvor Labour Camps. When it was clear that the fascists would lose, the guards started executing the prisoners, just to do as much damage as possible, to spite the people of Cumbria. Major Onuist will be promoted to Colonel and will be decorated for his courage in liberating the camps and Sant Marzh

The City of Pennsans will soon fall. Soldiers of the Revolutionary Insurrectionist Army, together with Pelasgian volunteers from the International Legion are closing in on the Norzh Palace, the seat of the fascist government. They reported that the rebel leaders cannot escape the encirclement of Pennsans and have fortified in the bunker underneath the Palace.

Assassination attempt against the commander of the 1st RIA, General Taran mab Truolphin. A bomb was placed in the command room of his HQ and only luck saved him, but the attempt took the life of the Kadikistani general Danilov Tunski.

Roman Becker and the Communist Workers' Party of Cumbria mourn the death of the Kadikistani Supreme Leader, Nikolai Leninov. A wook of mourning has been declared and Cumbrian flags will be hoisted at half mast.

President Roman Becker declared that the international volunteers who came and fought for Cumbria in the anti-fascist war will be given Cumbrian citizenship. This would mean that around 5,000 Ivernians (mostly Milesians), 3,000 Serenierre, 3,000 Kadikistani, 500 Pelasgians, 500 Jurzanis, 500 Trivodnians and 200 Eiffellanders will be given Cumbrian citizenship. He also declared that once the war will end, the International Legion will be kept as a separate unit in the army for anyone who wants to fight for Cumbria and to win a honorary citizenship after he ends his service. ​

The reports from Pennsans just came in. The fascists rebels, led by General Tregan mab Treeve, have unconditionally surrender to elements of the Revolutionary Insurrectionist Army and thus brought the Cumbrian Emergency to an end. The fascist forces that fought the people of Cumbria aiming to create a copy of the High Kingdom of Ivernia in Eastern Scania have laid down their weapons, as General Tregan has signed the instrument of surrender in front of the great hero of the Cumbrian people and the great commander that led the offensives against the rebels, General Taran mab Troulphin. The instrument of surrender stipulates an unconditional surrender of the corporate-fascist forces commanded from Pennsans, which have been broken and separated after Operation Northern Wind, in which the Revolutionary Insurrectionist Army, together with the Kadikistani Army and the International Legion have surrounded Pennsans in a pincer movement, more than half of the army remaining in northern Maetia, based in Sant Ervlon, while the rest remaining trapped in Pennsans. The forces that pressured the white government to surrender were made of Cumbrian Revolutinary Guards and Pelasgian volunteers. They managed to take the Norzh palace and to breach into the bunker underneath it, where the rebel leaders were hiding. Following the strict orders of General Taran, none of the traitors was harmed.

The Pennsans declaration started the Cumbrian Emergency, when monarchists, prometheists, right-wing republicans, social democrats and corporatists united together to try to bring back the authoritarian prometheist regime of Lena Rees. While the rebels were presenting themselves as the successors of the democratic regime under the Prometheist People's Union, many of the Cumbrians were fooled by their propaganda and joined their ranks, leading to the Northern Disaster in January, when all the northern provinces with the exceptions of County Doveneled and County Mezieg was either occupied by them, or outright declared it's support to the rebellion. The Disaster was followed by a successful rebel campaign in Maetia in which rebel forces reached up to Aentieg and Avaylh, on the Becker line. The arrival of the socialist volunteers from the whole world, together with the allied Kadikistani forces has made it possible to finally stop the white onslaught. The Cumbro-Kadikistani offensive north from Stredel, to help the encroached enclave was a tremendous success.

When their luck turned, the white rebels have finally shown their true faces. A coup d'etat in Pennsans toppled the republican faction of the rebels, led by General Goron mab Massen and put in power the corporatist fascists, supported by Caladbolg, led by General Tregan. This was the point in which the people of Cumbria understood that if they wanted to return to their good days of 1920-1930, when Naoned was the cultural capital of the world and Cumbria developed a high standard of living, they had to support the RIA. The People's Republic is the successor of the Democratic Socialist Republic and of the Kingdom of Cumbria until the authoritarian region of Leena Rees. That is why many Loagins living in Cumbria remained loyal to Naoned, as the People's Republic was and is a supporter of a free and majority ruled Loago. That is why the bulk of the whites who were initially fighting against Naoned, decided to return back into supporting the legitimate government. That is why, in the end, after this coup in Pennsans, the Cumbrian Emergency wasn't actually a civil war anymore, but a defensive war, in which the Cumbrian people wishing to relive the good life were fighting against fascists coming from allover the globe, to put again in power a king who abandoned his people and who wanted a right-wing dictatorship similar to Ivernia and Geotri in Cumbria, this time openly calling itself corporate-fascist, not deceiving the people of Cumbria into voting for Prometheism but in reality, supporting corporatism and fascism. The national flag of Cumbria, the white-green-black defeated the royal flag, the ermine and with it, Cumbria finally stepped up as a real country, not linked to any hereditary institution that brought only corruption and despair.

The authorities are expecting a great exodus into Ivernia through Sant Ervlon, as the whites were still controlling the border with Ivernia when the surrender was signed. Even if President Roman Becker announced that real Cumbrians have nothing to fear if they surrendered to the Revolutionary Insurrectionist Army, as he understood the need of the Cumbrians to fight for something in which they believed, even if they were misinformed and manipulated, it is expected that around 10,000 remaining members of the white army will evacuated into Ivernia to avoid to either be send in front of the Court Martial for defection, or to be extradited to be trialed in the country they came from. Regarding this, 70 Pelasgians and 5 Trivodnians have surrendered to the authorities and they will be extradited to their respective countries to be trialed there.

"Today's Cumbria is still the respectable and democratic country that was 20 or 30 years ago. We have always played by the rules of the international community and we have been very open towards it. I want this to continue. It is true, that there may have been authoritarian abuses under my transitional tenure, but this is typical, especially when one's country is fighting a war. But now that peace has returned, I will begin the liberalizations proposed by the Committee for Political and Social improvement to try to return to normal life. As for the white commanders, they will be judged, and will be accused of crimes against humanity and of defecting the army. The tenure of Leena Rees as Benadur of Cumbria was characterized by abuses and by our nation trying to become a leader of the north, that has brought only chaos. This really was a chaotic period and chaos makes people desperate. Desperate people don't think things thoroughly and many do poor choices. I know that Cumbrians, be them Kerns, Gaelics, Germans or Cumbrian proper, they respect each other and they wouldn't fight and kill each other for no reason. I may sound naive, but I hope that all who fought in this conflict, either on the red or white side had in mind a better Cumbria in the future. That is why I decided not to accuse them of high treason. But they will be accused of defecting the national army and of taking part in crimes against humanity. To show that we are a legitimate government even front of the international stage, I wish to invite foreign commissioners to report on the fairness of the trials regarding the leaders of the white movement," declared the President of the People's Republic of Cumbria, his excellency Roman Becker.

Regarding the evacuation to Ivernia, General Taran declared that it was not only expected, but it was taken into account by the authorities: "Yes, there were plans to advance west of Loch Padarn and thus to secure the border to Ivernia and trap all whites inside the country, but the plan was discontinued. Our priority wasn't to make as many enemy casualties as possible, nor to continue the fight until anyone against us was dead. We wanted to end this was as quickly as possible, and it was a real surprise when I heard that General Tregan raised the white banner, as it seemed that this was brought upon by a series of defections from the white army, especially of soldiers who were defending the bunker. This shows our attitude towards reconciliation. President Becker announced, when the republicans joined us, that anyone surrendering would receive an amnesty. My own forces were bolstered by defections from the whites. Now that the war has ended and the white commanders have surrendered, we will give two options to the remaining rebels. Either surrender and thus be forgiven, or make a run to Ivernia and hope that Nuada Airgetlam would receive you. Any other armed dissident caught in Cumbria from this point on, will either be arrested and accused of high treason, or if he attacks the authorities and citizens of Cumbria, outright killed."

It has been reported that the surrender was to be expected for two weeks now, since Pennsans was surrounded and the strength of the white army fell under 10,000 soldiers, less than 10% of it's initial strength. In the five months of war, there was a total of 160,000 dead or missing, both military and civilian and more than 300,000 displaced.

Reports from the Committee of Political and Social Improvement

Following the calls of president Roman Becker, the Committee of Political and Social Improvement was organized to create a draft of a democratic constitution that would provide the basis for the Cumbria of tomorrow. Chairman Loic mab Pasco was delegated by the president to observe the Cumbrian political, social and economical mentalities and to come up with a constitution was would be brought forwards for a referendum, so the era of transitional republican governments would end and the legitimate state will take hold.

After analyzing the the Cumbrians in regards to the said factors and applying the results to the political sciences, the Committee has come up with the requested political project, but, as Chairman Loic said it, "there may be some who will disapprove and may still gather enough influence to stop this". The way Chairman Loic was talking regarding the political project, whom he called "An Treas Poblachd', The Third Republic and the potential dissenters who would rather see the project die off have raised some eyebrows in the political community, especially in the one dominated by the Communist Workers' Party. Denigrated by the radical members who are supporters of Kadikistani modeled Leninovism, beloved by left-Prometheists and social republicans, Loic is seen as a quirky member of the central committee. He is a supporter of social justice and worker's rights, declares himself an utopian socialist but also criticized the political system in Kadikistan, sometimes even using Prometheist terminology, like "marxism-feudalism". First appointed by Roman Becker as a member from the non-Marxist left itno the Committee, Loic's star started ascending after the death of the Kadikistani leader, Nikolai Leninov. His ascension to the post of Chairman of the Committee was seen as possible thanks to the pro-republican sentiment brought by Credan mab Locryn's alliance with Naoned, but it was also been received with criticism: "The body of Nikolai Leninov hasn't even cooled yet and revisionists of all sorts are already coming like crows," as Sebastian Krebs, a member of the committee and also a high ranking member of the CWP declared. It might be so, but as the legitimacy of the People's Republic and it's political supports stands in the promises of liberalization and of the end of the war communists given by Roman Becker, if the people would vote for the Third Republic and Becker won't deliver, the war could restart in any moment and this time it wouldn't be so localized.

The Third Republic Project:
Political:
The third republic would be a directorial republic in which the head of state would be represented by a council of delegates elected for a five year term, each delegate coming from one of the historical provinces of Cumbria. The presidency of the council will rotate on a yearly basis, and the president will become a primus inter pares. The country will be decentralized, each province will be given it's own regional executive and legislative and will have the right to adapt or reject a law voted by the national legislative. The members of the regional and national legislative will be elected for four year terms. The National Parliament will have a perfect bicameralist system, one called the People's Chamber, which will represent the people of Cumbria and another called the Syndicate Chamber, which will represent the Syndicates and Trade Unions. Legislative elections will be general, held in the same day for both the regional and national parliaments and will be a single-winner voting system. The regional parliaments will then decide to nominate a General-Commissioner, and then approve or reject the proposed regional cabinet. The People's Chamber also nominates the Benadur and then will give a vote of approval to the cabinet. The participation in the democratic process will be compulsory, but voting will be free and secret. Membership in the Syndicates Chamber will be made by nominations coming from each syndicate, by either sending the general secretary or electing delegates.

Economical:
The third republic would reject the system of state capitalism advocating for a social market economy. Capitalist enterprise is free to return as long as the employees are members of a trade union and in a yearly audit organized by the Syndicates Chamber, the company is declared fit by respecting the rights of the workers. Small family businesses, as long as it doesn't have employees from outside the family can function without restriction. The state companies are to transformed and given to the workers by making all employees shareholders of the said company. The board of commissioners which will oversee it's function will either be formed by the workers themselves or will be hired from outside. The state farms will remain the same, as there are a few of them, but the state will give subsidies to farmers who put together their land to form cooperatives.

Social:
The third republic will give Cumbrian citizenship to all foreign volunteers who fought for Naoned in the Emergency. It will recognize the Kerns as a different ethnic group and declare the Kern language as Endangered National Heritage. It will decriminalize homosexuality and enact laws which will punish discrimination based on religion, ethnic group, social class, gender or sexual orientation. It aims to recreate the shattered image of Cumbria as a free land of the arts and of Naoned as the cultural capital of the world. It will promote free education in state institutions and will make school compulsory up to the 10th grade. ​

It is our opinion that the Third Republic Project contains a very interesting package of measures. Regarding the political structure, we advice to define rigidly what the provincial governments will be responsible for and what the national government will be responsible for, to avoid legal disputes about that in the future. We also strongly advice against a single winner voting system, because in that way a party could theoretically reach an absolute majority in Parliament with maybe only 35% of the votes; it would be better to let the people vote for e.g. 100 seats per province, and count the votes per province. A consequence of such a system will be that governments will always be coalition governments, but it is possible to negotiate such a government out without making compromises that nobody is really happy with.

The future of Cumbria looks promising at this moment. We will follow the events with interest.

3rd Republic given green light

The Project for the 3rd Republic has been approved by the government of the People's Republic of Varini, with one exception. Roman Becker, the president of Varinia, declared that the Directorate should be made of a member of each recognized ethnic group in Varinia, not of a delegate from each historical region, as that would create a German domination of the Directorate, as 3 members will be German, one will be a Gael and one would be a Kern. The Jews wouldn't be represented. For this, Roman Becker suggested that the Directorate should be formed of a German, a Kern, a Gael and a Jew so that all the recognized ethnic groups will be represented in the council.

"The Varinian emergency was all in all a rebellion of the peoples of the north whose political views are dominated by authoritarianism and corporatism against the more liberal peoples living in the south. Yes, the cold war that Lena Rees fought against Kadikistan destroyed the Varinian economy and it brought us in an unstable situation that ended with the liberation through the proclamation of the republic. But the war was not just a simple war for the liberation of the Celtic groups in the north. It was more like a war led by a minority to bring back a dictatorship. The Kingdom was, as much as nostalgic foreigners wish to not observe, a prison for the Scanian peoples. We do not wish for the republic to become that. That is why we must bring all peoples to the table and give them equal rights and representation," declared President Roman Becker.

Loic mab Pasco, the Chairman of the Committee for Political and Social Improvement declared that he accepts the suggests of the president and amended the project. With this new and last change, the project was sent to be voted in the People's Assembly and was accepted by a majority of the members of the parliament, with a vote of 356 to 104. With it the project is given green light and the government now is obliged to organize the referendum for the new constitution of the republic.

Hardliners criticize revisionism

Olaf Kieffer, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Workers' Party and a member of the Committee of Political and Social Improvement held a speech in the People's Assembly after the vote which legalized the constitutional referendum for the 3rd republic. In his speech, MP Kieffer criticized the new way of the Communist Party and the reforms supported by Roman Becker. He was supported by many of the MPs voting against the 3rd Republic Project some of them even threatening that they would leave the party.

"I have always been a supporter of socialism. I was a member of the Party of the Left since I started my political career. I was part of the old guard that was exiled to Kadikistan when the Prometheist dictatorship was established. I saw this country develop during the Red Years at the beginning of the century and then saw it degrade under the Prometheists. I had hopes, when I saw that comrade Roman Becker came to Hartem with the army to save the barely formed republic from the hands of corporatists and fascists, but now I see that we have been misled by our General-Secretary and President. I do not know what happened, but the Roman Becker I see now is not the Roman Becker I knew in Kadikistan, that was hunted by the secret police of Lena Rees just because he was loved by the people and the soldiers and thus a threat to the Prometheist status quo. Today we see the fall into revisionism. Even if we managed to defeat the fascists in the north, the vote today brought the end of our republic and of the bright future of the working class. I will start, beginning now, to even expect Roman Becker to ask the Pelasgians to help him import chains, for he wants to sell us as slaves on the Engellexian plantations by bringing back capitalism in the functioning of the state," declared MP Olaf Kieffer.

Moderates and reformist MPs decided not to follow up with responses, Amiel Morgenstern, MP for Selburg-Arbeiter Hof, even declaring that "to argue with them would be a waste of energy."

Olaf Kieffer ended his speech by threatening to leave the Communist Workers' Party and to recreate the Party of the Left. He also criticized the changes brought on by the New Order in Kadikistan and issued a call for the Calidians to try to keep true to real socialism.

Other News

Security:: In a ceremony today, President Roman Becker integrated the Republican Militias and the Revolutionary Guards into the Revolutionary Insurrectionist Army. He declared that the days of armed revolution is over so he renamed the land forces into the Republican Army.
Security:: The armed forces managed to finally secure the Varinian-Ivernian border, as the last white soldiers either evacuated into Ivernia through the Sant Ervlon corridor or surrendered to the authorities.
Economy:: Even if the liberalization of the economy will be followed, President Roman Becker declared that the reconstruction of the north will be done with the help of a planned economic system. He stated that looking back in history, much of the investment was concentrated in the south and if we would wait for private or foreign investments to reconstruct the north, we would have to wait forever, as the lack of infrastructure and economic potential discourages nearly anyone to invest there. The state will intervene and will reconstruct as fast as possible, especially the ruined city of Pennsans.
Communications:: The Varinian National Broadcasting Company will launch this weekend Radio Borealis, the new face of public radio in Scania, bringing the most modern technology for the best sounds and new shows and music to entertain all Varinians and even beyond. Radio Borealis will also have a station broadcasting in English for the foreign listeners.
Calidia:: Under the command of Ingolf Glasser, the Varinian volunteers who who traveled to Calidia to defend the small socialist state from potential threats, have officially disavowed their relationship and membership in the Varinian Communist Workers' Party, condemning it for it's revisionism and have joined the Calidian Section of the Marxist-Leninist Internationale and will also volunteer in the Calidian Army.

Sybille Heissler: Good morning and welcome to the first transmission of Boreal Radio, my name is Sybille Heissler and you are listening to the Morning Show, mixing good music with news. Boreal Radio has been created at the suggestions of President Roman Becker by the Minister of Communications, Anne Drexler and the Director of the Varinian National Broadcasting Company, Manfred Drach. The new changes come with the modernization and reorganization of VNBC into the VBC, the Varinian Broadcasting Corporation and gave Radio Varinia a facelift, transforming it into Boreal Radio and creating Nord TV as the national public television station. So, it's time to begin the inaugural transmission of Boreal Radio with the main news: The Friends of the North Association has been created to help the reconstruction of the north and the cultural centers of Hartem are reopening their gates, but first, to our correspondent in Pennsans, Aron Davies.

Aron Davies: The Friends of the North Association is a voluntary group formed by Varinians, Kadikistanis, Calidians but also Eiffellanders, Burgundians and even Pelasgians to came to Votadinia and Maetia to help the Varinian authorities in reconstructing after the end of the war. Their efforts concentrate on helping the people living in Pennsans to return to to city and help clean it from all the debris left from the fighting. They will activate around Pennsans until Komitat Sant Ervlon will be declared fully safe by the Republican Army as it still patrols the region to find the last pockets of fascists. The Friends of the North have oped a recruitment bureau in Hartem and in Selburg but the government decided to support them give them space in each embassy abroad to open a recruitment office. Until now there are 300 Varinians and 500 foreign volunteers arriving to the north to help the reconstruction. This is Aron Davies, Boreal News.

Adina Blum: The Varinian National Opera has reopened it's gates last night for the first time since the state of emergency was declared by Chancellor Lena Rees. The show Ariistuun, about an ancient Himyari prince having to choose between the love of a slave and the kingdom of his father, managed to attract the people so much that the tickets were all sold in less than six hours since the booths opened. The Opera is the last of the cultural institutions on the famous Kastanien Allee that started to continue their shows. Famous theaters like the Sara Mader and the Ostende have premiered plays and musicals since the last weekend. Anonymous Karma was the musical that premiered in the Sara Mader Theater and tells the story of a westerner wishing to visit all the corners of the world, while in Ostende, the Eiffellander play, The Hoax, telling the story of a goods peddler, going up and down Germania and Scania selling dreams. It is expected that the return to normal on Kastanien Allee will put Hartem again on the map of cultural events.

Sabine Schneider appointed chancellor by President Roman Becker

The Minister of External Affairs, Sabine Schneider, has been nominated by Roman Becker for the position of Chancellor of Varinia. The position has been occupied by Roman Becker after the creation of the People's Republic of Varinia in the chaotic autumn days of 1956, when the White Army was invading from Milesia, before the Northern Rebellion started. As part of the reforms dubbed "the return to normalcy" which Roman Becker began after the white surrender in Pennsans which will reach it's apogee with the adoption of the 3rd Republican Constitution, a referendum for it being prepared now. Roman Becker, which declares himself a democratic socialist, declared a day after the Instrument of Surrender has been signed, that the era of martial law has ended and that democracy can return to Varinia. For this he vacated the office of Chancellor, which he first merged with the one of President and has used his prerogatives to appoint Sabine Schneider as Chancellor and thus making her the second woman head of government in Varinia, after the tenure of Lena Rees, which has been fully condemned for her authoritarian tendencies.

"I thank president Roman Becker for this and I hope that I can rise up to his and the people's expectations. Varinia needs now more than ever to rise up like a phoenix. We had too much chaos and destruction. I will strive to organize a fast reconstruction of the north to repair what has been destroyed in the war. In that respect, I declare that the civil strife that we had must become history and now we have to turn the page and face a brighter future for all. I will also work tirelessly to recreate the good renown Varinia had before the whole chaos brought upon us by the last months of the Rees rule and the war. Externally I wish Republican Varinia will be recognized by all nations and we will work together to make sure that there will be no woman, child or man living in fear for the day of tomorrow," declared Chancellor Sabine Schneider in a press conference.

"Our duty is to the people of Varinia and to the world, to make them all understand that Varinia is a responsible member of the international scene," declared President Roman Becker.

Historical Parties return home

President Roman Becker have invited back into Varinia the representatives of the historical parties, many of whom left the country when the People's Republic was declared and the martial law was instituted with the beginning of the White invasion through Milesia and then the rebellion in the North. The first to arrive in Hartem on the Bastian Schuster International Airport were the members of the left faction of the old prometheists, whom after the tragic death of Iver Gower in Caladbolg at the hands of the fascist Rewan mab Andain, have managed to become the majority in the Prometheist People's Union and in an emergency congress they deleted all the right-wing and corporatist elements in the ideology. They were followed by the National Party, the Agrarian Party and the Christian Democratic Union. Chancellor Sabine Schneider has been present personally to greet the representatives of the parties.

The Prometheist People's Union and the Agrarian Party have allied themselves with the Communist Worker's Party, creating the Popular Front. They have pledged to support the provisional government led by Sabine Schneider. Emil Bender, the leader of the PPU has declared that he wishes to keep the alliance with the Agrarian and Communist Party and to participate in the elections as a political union representing the whole left wing, from the communists to the social democrats and peasant's movements. Sabine Schneider declared that elections will take place towards the end of the summer, by that time the country stabilizing economically and politically.

The National Party and the Christian Democratic Union have also decided to unite together, forming the National Front, a political union which in their words will strive for a complete cleansing of Varinia of Marxist-Leninovist elements and authoritarianism and for a completely free market, declaring that the restrictions imposed on private enterprise and the support for cooperative enterprises are what are keeping Varinia from achieving it's full potential.

Mrs Schneider also asked the National Front for their support in her tenure as Chancellor and as head of the provisional government, declaring that once the country is stable and there are no chances for it to fall back into anarchy and destruction, each can follow it's own political ideals. Until then she stressed on the need of national unity.
