President Nominates Chancellor for the New Government
This morning in front of Miraflores, president Alejandro Gutierrez announced to the public that tomorrow, when the newly elected National Assembly takes power, he will be giving them the name of a new Chancellor.
The president said that Carlos Daniel Martinez, leader of the Democratic Party (Partido Democratico) was chosen “after many hours of consideration. We when through many members of Parliament before we made a decision.”
Mr. Martinez is currently the head of the majority party of Parliament. The Democratic Party took a majority of the seats on last month's election parliamentary elections ending two years of Socialist rule. Mr. Martinez thanked the president and told the media that if approved by the National Assembly, ” I will do my best within my abilities to improve Frescania.”
Mario Fernandez, the new leader of the Socialist Worker's Party (Partido Socialista Obrero) said his party will oppose Mr. Martinez as Chancellor. “We will try our best to not allow Mr. Martinez to become Chancellor. He will dismantle years of social legislatures and infrastructures that have and continue to help the people of Frescania.”
Whether Mr. Fernandez is capable of stopping the majority of the National Assembly of voting Mr. Martinez as Chancellor is to be seen, but it is certain that with tomorrow's vote, the country's future will be a new one.
