I think that equatorial positioning makes sense, and also solves some of our [notoriously huge] problems with the lack of water to land percentage equilibrium.

The apparent "final map" is alright with ne via my spot. I love what's been done. But I'd love even more for this to get done and put this to rest.

I don't think it's OK for people to decide on Himyar's fate without consulting Himyar's players. And I'm not even talking of myself, because I'm inactive, but people like NCR, Aus, Jurzan, etc.

LOL. None of those guys are active but NCR. There is a reason why Himyar has been kind of a target and thats because it's a region that has failed to give the forum anything but tons of unused pixels. :/

If people want to help me out in my entirely different map building project, if they could link me to the NSEurope classic map, that would be helpful. Before anyone shits their pants in glee or anger, note that I'm not making a copy, but there are some aspects of it I want to include in the final touches on the map I'm working on.

I want to stay in the same position in the Long Sea, close to both Coronado and Padania, as that location has provided me plenty of RP opportunities.

Actually, Jurzan is active as well.

OK. I have tried something different, here is an idea with Himyar in its original form.

TOO MUCH LAND! We don't have enough players for this stuff.

I have to agree this was my initial reaction too. I mean, it is a beautiful map and all, but with activity and membership as it is, I don't think we need so many spots.

I think the problem is that if the equator is where it is wanted, the map proportions create a huge map. In fact, if you place this map on a map of the real world, Eurasia will fit in Canada.

Splitting Himyar (yes indeed Guiana it's spelled Himyar) is not acceptable, if you ask me. Either extend it westward some or shave off some more off the bottom and don't split it at all, as Khalistan had done earlier.

Also, you made the Gulf of Sidra (the body of water entirely in my territory) too large. This is something for the map maker's thread, I know, but please make it smaller.

There are about six-seven new and tiny spots, in one tiny area, on the main continent. That seems appallingly little considering the huge desire for these spots. People don't want spots on the northern islands; they want spots smack dab in the middle of the northern continent.

Really, this thread was started to rectify the problem in the North/the Euromass/Eurodisney. But it's mostly been about cutting into Himyar. What gives?

In all of the map proposals it has been difficult - at best - to rectify the real problem: the Eurasian continent. Frankly, while all the updates to date have been nice, they haven't fixed the fact that we're low on desirable plots and only 6 spots are being added in a high request area. People don't want to be part of anything other than northern Himyar near Europe-area, it's been proven time and again, making the rest of Himyar attractive will never work. Fact is, Himyar might be supposed to represent Africa, but it does a shit job at that; it ignores every single feature that defines Africa, and imposes superficial facades to make it seem more African. The Eurasian landmass needs to be increased in size PERIOD, and Himyar needs to be back to its former self. This entire debate began because some areas of the map were no longer free to new players - and new space was being created in the wrong areas. We need to address this problem, or this thread will just be recreated 3 months from now.

With Ziv moving, could there be a way to add more spots in Central Eurasia, and may just modify southern Himyar (Got it right this time). I do like the idea of a southwestern continent though.

Giving far off spots more pixels may make them more attractive...

Isn't that the case for much of expanded Himyar? I don't have exact proof, but I'm pretty sure most of the spots in southern Himyar are, on average, bigger than most other spots.

In any case, with Beau and Ziv moving, one could certainly carve up Midland Europe to make more spots. I have my doubts this will happen, but I'd also inquire further into what Xen is doing, see if we can carve up some of his mainland as well. I feel that, thanks to the old system of "make your own spots" when we first started Modern, most of are spots are just too damn big. Obviously we don't want to Balkanize them too much, but some like the Miedzymorze spot can definitely be carved up. After all, I remember a few months back when we had a crisis for where to put Slavs, seeing as most of Midland Europe, which was de facto Slav Country, was already taken.
