The Grand Covenant has not and will never sign any treaty that restricts our God given right to individually, verbally challenge rogue states that threaten peace in Europe. Our deserved treaty signed late last year in Riseborough, ending two years of occupation by an Empire much greater and wise than Valkany, bars this nation from associating with or joining entangling military alliances that serve nothing more than to strengthen dictatorships and the thugs who protect them.

We repeat our call, nay plead, beg, and implore that Valkany searches for peace through diplomacy in resolving any perceived affront made against them by Portusgalia. A conference, a phone call, a series of telegrams - we demand that Valkany perform the bare minimum that is expected of civilized nations who put the utmost value on human life. Denying this simple appeal for reason would show the Empire's true face, one we have not seen nor want to; we strongly advise that the Peoples & Patriots of Valkany contemplate the grave destination that greets them at the end of a jingoistic warpath.

Valkany tries to diplomatically resolve situation with Portusgalia! Vestrland orders ships and vehicles from Valkanian military industries! Valkanian embassy program surpasses expectations by far!

Valkany has requested an audience with the Queen of Portusgalia in an attempt to diplomatically resolve the situation between the two nations and defuse the tension it has brought to Europe. Currently Valkany is awaiting an answer from Portusgalian officials. Valkany has also taken a more subtle stance in other diplomatic disputes with allies so as to not damage her friendships within the region. At the same time Vestrland has ordered a number of warships and vehicles from Valkanian state military industries. This comes to reinforce the friendship between the two nations. On another tone Valkany's Embassy Program is surpassing even the highest expectations with half a dozen nations already requesting an embassy in Zessionsford.

Issue #12 - Saturday, January 18 1954

Portusgalia accepts Valkanian apology! Count of Basto granted amnesty by Portusgalia! Valkany denounces Duerist Guerrillas! Valkanian nobles married to Portusgalian nobles in exile divorced!

Portusgalia has accepted Valkany's formal apology with a new chapter starting in the relations between the two nations! The Count of Basto left the Valkanian Palace last evening and fled to the Portusgalian Embassy. He has been granted amnesty by the Portusgalian government. At the same time the Valkanian minister of foreign affairs has also visited Her Majesty the Queen of Portusgalia. Valkany has also publicly denounced Duerist Guerilla forces. Things aren't going well for the Portusgalian royal family in exile as there are rumors yesterday all Valkanian nobles married to members of the family were divorced and many of them are leaving for New Volgdova. The Valkanian Imperial Family's representative however refused to comment on the subject.

New Volgdova votes for union with Valkany! Minimum wage raised! Environmental laws passed!

The majority New Volgdova's voting population has voted for a union with Valkany. As such the Dominion of New Volgdova is now officially part of the Empire of Valkany. The minimum wage has been raised while a number of environmental laws have been passed. A government spokesperson said that this is only the beginning for a new government program to help make life easier for Valkany's lower and middle classes.

Valkanian military equipment arrives in Vestrland! Death penalty abolished! Valkany denounces Valkanian volunteers fighting in Portusgalia!

Eight frigates and two armored personnel carriers from Valkany arrived yesterday in Vestrland as they had been ordered by the country's government about a week ago. Back in Valkany the government has abolished the death penalty for any crimes A class or lower. As such only A+ Class crimes (mostly crimes of high treason)can now be punished with the death penalty while the government has taken l steps to ensure that even in those cases the execution is as humane as possible. This comes at a time when the government is trying to make Valkany more like the other Skanian nations. To another topic the Valkanian Government's spokesperson officially denounced any valkanian volunteers assisting the Portusgalian Integralist Guerrillas this morning.

Average Valkanian lifespan rises! Valkany conquers higher place in world public health records! Government modernizes Valkanian alphabet!

According to recent surveys from the Imperial University of Zessionsford the average Valkanian life expectancy has risen by 20 years in the last decade! Valkany also recently moved 12 places higher in the world public health rankings! In a completely other subject the Imperial Government has taken steps to modernize Valkany's Alphabet adopting a lot of elements from versions of the Latin Alphabet that neighboring countries use!

Valkany sells weapons to Portusgalian police! Valkany submits four movies to 1954's Vesper International Film Festival!

Valkany recently sold no less than 1000 Thomson SMG's to Portusgalia, in order to be used by Portusgalia's police force. Similar business dealings are expected to take lace between the two in the future. Valkany also recently submitted four movies to 1954's Vesper International Film Festival. These were: Fathers and Sons at War, Sons of Zessionsford, Grey and The Last Days of Spring.

Issue #17 - Thursday, January 23 1954

Valkanian Emperor hospitalized! Modern Valkanian alphabet officially adopted! Nordic Cross Flag returns!

Today, at 14:26 PM His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Demetrius XIV was transferred to the I Central Imperial Hospital in Zessionsford's Government Quarter. The 86 year old Emperor remains in relatively good shape but was transferred to the hospital for preliminary reasons as His Majesty's health has slightly worsened in past few days. Hundreds of thousands gathered in Valkany's largest cities to show their support for the Emperor while nearly one million people gathered in Krownsplatz Square. Doctors say that His Majesty is expected to recover. In the meantime his son Imperial Crown Prince Demetrius XV is in temporary control of the country's governance and has been granted the title of Lord Regent. In other news the Modern Valkanian Alphabet is now the country's primary official alphabet with the Archaic alphabet to be only used in ceremonial cases or government documents, buildings and signs along with the modern one. Also by decree of the Lord Regent the old Valkanian Imperial Flag featuring a Nordic Cross is now the country's official flag again after nearly half a century. The Lord Regent has also taken steps to reform the country's symbols and emblems with the help of Vestrland.

Valkanian Emperor's health severely worsens! Vestrland and Portusgalia show their support for the Valkanian Emperor! New banknotes and coins designed!

His Imperials Majesty's health has severely worsened. The nation's best doctors are doing everything ti can but everyone in Valkany is preparing for a worst case scenario. The Emperor addressed the nation and his speech is written below. Vestrland and Portusgalia have officially expressed their hopes that Demetrius XIV quickly recovers. The Imperial Central Bank is preparing for the worst as well and has prepared new banknotes and coins featuring Demetrius XV. However all government officials hope and wish that Demetrius XIV, a truly important and great leader of Valkany, may survive.

"My people, sons and daughters of Valkany, I now lie in bed, in what probably are my last hours, content with my life and proud that I had the chance to lead such a great and noble people. I truly am at peace and I beg you that you may not fear my loss as my time has come. I had a fulfilling life and I managed to achieve my dream of a Great Valkany. In Valkany people are deeply saddened by the current state and imminent death of the Emperor. Their Emperor. He was regarded as a leader who was close to his people and who lead them through many a crisis. Even in Aptoglia people are saddened not out of love but out of respect.

Valkanian Emperor pronounced dead! Emperor Demetrius XV succeeds his father! Week-long national mourning!

Today at 10:15 AM His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Demetrius XIV, was officially pronounced dead. He died of natural causes. He has been named Demetrius XIV the Great, in honor of his great achievements, reforms and conquests all of which he did to benefit our nation, a nation he deeply loved with every bit of his soul until his death. A few hours before dying he addressed the Valkanian people reminding them of his love and gratitude for them and asking them not to be over-saddened by his imminent natural demise. His Majesty also named his son, Demetrius XV heir to the throne of Zessionsford. Emperor Demetrius XIV the Great's funeral will take place on the 26th of January, at 12:00, with the highest state honors in Zessionsford's Saint George's Cathedral. A week of national mourning will follow, as is accustomed, during which all flags will be lowered to house level and all other mourning measures will take effect. Following the week of mourning the new Emperor, His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Demetrius XV will by crowned Emperor in Dimitrisburg's Saint Irene's Cathedral on the 14th of February at 12:00. Demetrius XV addressed the nation:

"Today we face a dark day. A day of blackness, shadow and pain. A great man has left this world and crossed on to the next. That man was Emperor Demetrius XIV. He was my father. He was your father. But most importantly he was the father of Great Valkany. He died as he had lived, a fighter to the end, and he died feeling proud to have led our nation forward. No words can describe the pain and loss we have all suffered, the ones close to our great leader more than everyone. Yet he wished that our glorious nation may live on far beyond him. And that we shall do. As is his will I shall sit on the Throne of Zessionsford and lead our nation towards the path that he set and created. Ave!"

Emperor Demetrius XV: Don't call me that Johann. You know me since I was a baby. We fought the New Volgdovan Crisis together for God's sake! My father is gone and before I can even mourn they start their propaganda again. As if apologizing and trying to be friendly wasn't good enough for them! Lord Johann Odessof: That's what I'm here for Master Dmitri. We'll take the diplomatic route. We'll send them a clear message and expose them to the entirety of Europe. We'll start preparing for a conflict, they won't be able to fight a revolution and an invasion by a country our scale at once, so they'll back down. But we'll build up anyway just in case. I know this must be hard but you kept your calm and were a great leader as Lord regent. Keep up the image you created then and both Valkany's people and the rest of Europe will love and respect you.
