Issue #20 - Sunday, January 26 1954

Valkanian Emperor's funeral successfully hosted! Valkany sues Emissora Nacional! Emissora Nacional insults Demetrius XIV and publishes false news about his funeral!

The funeral of Emperor Demetrius XIV was attended by diplomats from around the globe, including those from Vestrland and Portusgalia. Speaking of Portusgalia however, one of the country's largest private News Agencies, Emissora Nacional insulted Emperor Demetrius XIV and falsely claimed that the Integralists would be attending he Royal Funeral even though they are under house arrest in New Volgdova. After an intense diplomatic incident Valkany's government decided to sue Emissora Nacional. In Zessionsford, Dimitrisburg and other major Valkanian cities angry mobs burned Portusgalian Newspapers and Magazines en mass while also setting the local offices of Emissora Nacional ablaze. Sadly as Valkany's firefighting force's arrived late due to barricades set up by demonstrators the building was entirely destroyed and 4 persons were hospitalized. However under the Foreign Business Law, chapter 18, paragraph 8, Emissora Nacional is not entitled to any refund or damages of any kind.

Issue #21 - Monday, January 26 1954

Royal marriage announced! Election time! Legal battle won!

Rumors have been escalating in Valkany's higher classes that the Emperor is going to marry a noble from Vestrland! Today both Valkany's and Vestrland's government confirmed that Emperor Demetrius XV will marry a Princess from Vestrland! In the meantime elections are now upon us with most polls showing a clear victory of the Imperialist Party. On the subject of the legal dispute between Valkany and Emissora Nacional, Valkany won the dispute in a Portusgalian court! Valkany has been granted minor damages and the Emissora Nacional will have to officially apologize! Also rumors escalate that Portusgalia might close down Emissora Nacional and start a new Media Network!

Emergency Broadcast from IVBC1 (Imperial Valkanian Broadcasting Company Channel 1)

IVBC1 Announcer: This is IVBC1 and we are disrupting our program for an emergency news broadcast! Today, at 3:20 PM large numbers of immigrants concentrated outside the Imperial Central Palace violently attempted to breach Police lines and reach the Palace. Police was forced to use water pumps, tear gas and rubber ammunition to push the rioters back. The crowds had gathered there to protest the new migration law prior to the outbreak of violence. After they were pushed back by Police forces rioters set eight buildings and forty-six cars ablaze until they were forced to completely retreat after the Internal Troops were called in. Most of the rioters either originated from Himyar or belonged to far-left Anarchist groups. Both the government and all of the parliament's parties, including the Socialist Party and the Anarcho-Communist Party condemned the action. This raises this issue of immigrant integration once again, with Valkany being one of the few nations that do not recognize non-European immigrants the right to citizenship and having laws that discourage Non-European immigrant employment. Issue #22 - Tuesday, January 27th 1954

Royal wedding! Heavy riots! Latest election polls!

The Royal Wedding between Her Majesty Princess Ingeborg of Vestrland and His Imperial Majesty Emperor Demetrius XV has been confirmed by both governments and will take place on the 13 of February, one day before Emperor Demetrius XV is officially crowned and one day after Valkany's week of mourning. Both nations' peoples are extremely excited and happy upon hearing of the news! In the meantime heavy riots occurred yesterday in Zessionsford's Kronwsplatz Square as immigrant protesters violently attempted to reach the palace but where pushed back by heavy police forces ad the Internal Troops. Eight buildings suffered damages from fires while forty-six cars were set ablaze. This seems to have taken a toll on the Left wing parties' popularity as is evidenced by our latest polls:

Preparations for war?! New government elected! Negotiations concerning South Himyar!

Today at 2:00 PM the New Valkanian government headed by Prime Minister Duke Anthony XVII of the Imperialist Party was sworn in at Zessionsford's Saint George's Cathedral in the presence of Emperor Demetrius XV and his fiance Princess Ingeborg. The new government has reinforced Valkany's claims to South Himyarish land and has expressed Valkany's will to greatly compromise and actively cooperate so that the situation concerning to contradicting South Himyarish claims is resolved. In any case Valkany has ordered arms, vehicles and equipment for a 200,000 men strong expeditionary force from the Valkanian Industries Group.

We are determined to respect the agreement between our nations concerning the Borders of our colonies. The expeditionary force is being sent there to reinforce the current forces in the Valkanian Eastern Cape, deal with the Himyarish Natives and suppress any possible revolts that might occur by native populations. We do not wish to war with other European nations also partaking in the great mission of civilizing the Himyarish continet and especially the Free Cities League. Also it is possible that not all of the expedition force will be sent there as Valkany is considering partaking in Operation Red Acres.

The Crowned Government would more particularly wish to be informed whether by ‘greatly compromise and negotiate' mentioned in the declarations are to be understood that the Valkanese Government will actively engage with those nations and powers in Himyar diplomatically to resolve what crisis the Valkanese Government has determined to exist, or whether the language will be so construed, as to exist as a mere diplomatic courtesy to the European community without any substance to the intentions of dialogue. Whether it be meant that the apparent confusion of territorial boundaries in Southern Himyar as providing justification for the military escalation of the continent by the Valkanese Government, be considered appropriate? Whether Lisser vessels, companies and citizens, with interests and residence in Himyar shall be liable to an inconvenience of their freedoms and liberties, by the gross expansion of the Valkanese military establishment in Himyar?

The Valkanese Government should certainly be sufficiently aware of the interest of the Kingdom of Lisse in the interpretation which shall be given to those declarations made by it on 28th Jan. 1954, and will readily and justly appreciate the motives of the Crowned Government, in requesting that the Valkanese Government’s answer may be given as, promptly as possible.

The Imperial Valkanian government is not interested in territorial expansion in Himyar as our current Eastern Cape colony has proved sufficient. We are dispatching the force there as we our intelligence services informed us of a possible revolt in our colony by native Himyarish militants. While sending 200,000 men may seem as an overreaction our current force of 5,000 is not adequate to deal with 400,000 natives. Once the native threat has been dealt with we will proceed to recall our force. At no time before, during or after the revolt will the citizens and interests of Lisse be harmed and we will do our best to protect them.

Issue #24 - Friday, January 31st 1954

War! Terrorist attacks! Martial law! Shipment incident in Port Victoria!

Today at 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM two explosions took place in Zessionsford's Krownsplatz Square and Port Victoria's city center! A group called the Himyarish Eastern Cape Freedom Fighters has claimed responsibility for the attacks! The group's leader Brogdoro Abundagubu also declared war on the Valkanian Colonial Government claiming that his 400,000 strong army will not stop fighting until every last "white scum" has been driven off the Eastern Cape and his people have "reclaimed their land"! Also two hours earlier Valkanian Security Forces arrested a man from Asylan attempting to smuggle illegal arms into Port Victoria. The Valkanian Imperial Government has responded by declaring Martial Law in the Eastern Cape Colony. Emperor Demetrius XV addressed the nation reassuring foreign diplomats that the rights of their citizens will be respected, that their interests and citizens will be protected and that they may at any time recall their citizens residing in the Eastern Cape Colony. He also ordered a 200,000 strong expeditionary force to the Colony saying that Valkany was concerned that there might be a revolt due to intelligence but nobody ever expected such a gruesome act of hate and violence. He also reassured the other Colonial Nations in the area that the expeditionary force will remain within the Eastern Cape's borders and will be recalled after the revolt is dealt with. Emperor Demetrius XV's address to the nation:

"My beloved people. When I sat on this throne I swore that I would do my best to both ensure your safety and prevent Valkany from entering any other wars as we have all felt the destruction and meaningless bloodshed that war brings. Yet now I see that the path of diplomacy has failed us as a rogue group of primitive Negros from Himyar have perpetrated one of the most shocking and disgusting acts in Valkany's long history. They bring upon us a war without reason and cause, without reasoning and purpose, defiant of their civilization due to our efforts and the international community's will for peace. While we did indeed try to prepare for a possible revolt hanks to the insight granted to us by out intelligence services we never expected such a destructive act that targets innocents! But mark my words: WE WILL NOT SUCCUMB! We shall fight until the last drop of Valkanian blood has hit the ground or until we have won which I am entirely sure that we will do. And for this reason I have declared martial law in the Eastern Cape Colony and dispatched an expeditionary force of 200,000 brave men and women there to assist the local Defence & Security Forces in combating the Native menace. I assure all foreign nations that the rights of their companies and citizens within our colony's borders will be respected and we will take every step to protect them and assist in their evacuation should the need to do so arise. I also assure them that our force will not for any reason and under any circumstances cross the borders of our colony and will evacuate the area immediately after the revolt is dealt with. Once again I beg that you may stand fast and strong as we go through this great crisis and defining moment in our history. Ave!"

Issue #25 - Saturday February 1st 1954

Invitations to the Imperial-Royal Marriage! Expeditionary force arrives at Port Victoria! Portusgalia mobilizes in Mozambia!

The governments of Vestrland and Valkany have sent invitations to many leaders and dignitaries from across the world so that they may be present during the Royal-Imperial Marriage. Additionally they have allowed all foreign leaders and dignitaries to be present at the Marriage should they wish to do so. At the same time the Valkanian expeditionary force has arrived at the Eastern Cape and has already begun fortifying major population centers to ensure they don't fall to the Native revolutionaries. However out of fear of a possible invasion in Mozambia the Portusgalian government has mobilized the national guard and ordered them to fortify Mozambia's borders. Other nations with colonies in South Himyar have taken similar measures. A Valkanian Government spokesperson said this morning that the expeditionary force is in the Eastern Cape to defend the Colony from rogue Natives and will leave the area after the revolt is dealt with. He also reassured them that Valkany will at no time invade the mainland or colonies of other nations.
