FORMER PRIME MINISTER REAPPOINTED

His Majesty, King Roderick IV, has reappointed Sir Weatherby Swann to his former position as Prime Minister of Mayaland. The 52 year old Swann, a former naval officer and Sheriff of Tortuga (1988-1993) was elected to Parliament in 1994, and later served as Prime Minister from 1998 to 2004 when he was replaced by the head of the Whigs, Gregory Smyth, when the Tories lost control of the House of Commons. Now, with the Tories returning to power, Swann will once again head His Majesty's government.

OOC: As a soft start. We could even do it as a Library room thread, provided we have real stuff to discuss. Otherwise a couple of news posts would be best.

BELMONT PREMIER'S TOUR IGNORES MAYALAND
As the list was posted of those countries to be visited in the announced diplomatic tour of Belmont's Premier, Shahrazad Martinique, several nations were obviously missing, but one missing name in particular has many in the government as well as the population angry, that missing name is the Kingdom of Mayaland. Though no comments have been issued by either His Majesty or the cabinet, many in both houses of Parliament, such as the Rt. Hon. Clayton Moore MP, have expressed their displeasure and that "such a snubbing by Mme. Martinique is an insult to His Majesty, His Majesty's government and to the people of Mayaland".

Cooler heads though are likely to win out, like Speaker of the House of Commons, saying that "such a diplomatic faux pas is not uncommon, especially from Belmont. I am sure His Majesty will forgive the incident with just the issuing of a simple apology."

What is more troubling is that Mme. Martinique is avoiding both Anglo-Mayan nations on her tour.

The reason Mme. Martinique did not include Mayaland in her list is because Her Majesty The Queen shall embark on a tour of EDF countries next month. Since there are no pressing matters between our two countries, talks can be delayed until then.

DEFENCE MINISTRY ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL DEPLOYMENT ONLY PRECAUTIONARY
With the unrest in Sinhai and especially the conflicts in Southern Cathay and Barazi, the Defence Ministry has announced that additional air and naval units will be sent to Khalistan and Butuan to reinforce units already stationed there. The Ministry says that the deployment is purely a precautionary one and are designed to insure that in the case the conflicts expand, the Kingdom's interests as well as those of its allies can be protected. Though actual numbers and composition of these units have not been revealed, due to the nation's economic interests and treaty obligations, it is expected that the forces deployed will be substantial.

:!:INSTABILITY IN SUR CAUSES IMMIGRATION PROBLEMS ON BORDER
The Ministry of State for Immigration has posted the latest numbers and it reveals that the arrests of illegal immigrants along the Anglyn's southern border has increased by 76%. Though this increase is very concerning, it does not seems to come as a surprise to the Home Secretary Sir Alfred Wainright as he has blamed "the economic and civil instability in Republica del Sur" as "the primary factor for the increase of people attempting to illegally cross Anglyn's southern border." In response to the increase, the Home Secretary has directed the Ministry for Immigration to "increase border security by whatever means necessary."

:!:BELMONT'S RELATIONS WITH LORRAINE A CONCERN TO WINCHESTER

Though Belmont's Foreign Office denies it has any ill will towards Lorraine, it appears that many in the government in Paris, as well as the Belmontian press, have come to consider their eastern neighbor as a military threat, enough so that it has become a factor in Belmont's defence budget. This trend has HM Government in Winchester concerned, not only because Lorraine is an ally of Anglyn, but also the suspicion that it is Belmont's closer ties to the LFS that is the driving force behind the current foreign and domestic policies in Paris.

:!:BELMONT/CORONADO TENSIONS CONTINUE TO WORSEN

Though the HM Government has always considered the Paris government of being erratic and the one in Toledo volitile, Belmont's latest foreign policy decisions seem to be ones designed more to exacerbate the tensions between the two governments rather than to alleviate them. With the Belmont's opening of bases to Greater Sarmatia and its announced wargames already irking the government of Fernando Calderón Juarez, the latest document leak will likely send the socialists in Toledo into a tizzy.

What has become a normal occurance, Belmontian government documents have been leaked to the press, this time implementing Coronado in the assassination attempt of Premier Martinique in which the Premier's husband was wounded. Though the document does not indicate there being any evidence of Coronado government being actually involved, the leak, whether it was by accident or intentional, and if Vangala's reaction is of any indication, it will not likely be well received by the socialist government in Toledo.

:arrow:KING ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF PRINCE OF WESSEX AS REGENT - His Majesty, King Roderick IV, who will soon celebrate his 85th birthday, has announced that he will appoint his 61 year old son and heir to the throne, Cedrick, Prince of Wessex the Prince Regent of Anglyn. Though the reasons behind this surprising move has not been revealed, it has been speculated that it has to do with the King's increased abscence from public life and such a move will grant Prince Cedrick the legal powers to act in the name of the crown.

:arrow:MILITARY DEPLOYMENT TO LORRAINE UNDERWAY - East coast naval bases and air bases have been busy of late as Anglyn prepares to deploy troops and equipment to Lorraine. Naval transports, both active navy and auxiliaries are being loaded for the sea journey while personnel are to be flown by Royal Air Force transport planes.

 PASILA MAY INTERVENE IN ARESURA CIVIL WAR - Though Anglyn has avoided interfering in the civil war that has been raging in Aresura, and as it looks that the government is about to fall to the rebels, it appears PASILA means to intervene as carrier groups from memberstates of the alliance have dispatched and are now enroute to Aresuran waters. Though the announcement has had the positive effect of the rebels calling for a ceasefire and negotiations to end the war, such a deployment from powers outside the hemisphere is of great concerned to HM Government, but that concern has turned to nervousness with the announcement that Warre and Bantyr have also diverted warships to the area with the intentions of opposing any kind of attempt to 'influence the outcome' of the expected talks by PASILA and such nervousness has the Royal Navy deploying its own vessels in the hopes that any trouble that starts might be contained.
