Wow that's awesome! How did you make that?!

Oh, Mergogne, was very good, this perfect, you have talent .... :rd:

Awww... thank you both very much — this one isn't that great, just made it with Paint and Microsoft Word actually... there are some really incredible ones in the other map thread (for example, Lisse's map).

A few people have been saying they might want to make changes to certain parts of the map to me, but I am not very comfortable discussing it in a Skype or IRC chat because it represents only a minority voice in the community. I'm not against change, I'm just against being accused of conspiring (which has happened before).

If you have an idea for changing the map, and do not necessarily want to open your own thread outlining it, this thread could serve as a place to discuss the map.

Location : The plot bordering Yujin, Touzen (Jurchen) and Boliatur
Name of Country : Beishan
Pertinent Threads/Wiki :

Also I have to commend you for making that map in Paint, I sure as hell wouldn't go to paint to make an elaborate map like that (well, maybe in the past).

Eh, anyone could do it - it's just drawing lines in Microsoft Word and then using the bucket tool in Paint... thanks though :D

How do you draw lines with Microsoft word?

Well, I have Word for Mac (and the 2003 version, no less), so it's probably a bit different than most people, but it's all in the drawing toolbar. You can use straight lines, freeform lines, perforated lines, all kinds of lines. Also can do any kind of shape you want. It's totally not what Word was meant to do, but it's pretty versatile nonetheless. I've always used it for at least some of my graphics stuff — mostly because I've been too lazy to learn how to use real drawing software...

(Also, Cantignia - feel free to move this conversation to the map discussion thread if you feel so inclined).

EDIT: sorry we posted at the same time

VB8 Update:

Instead of a white stroke fade there's now a black stroke fade on the borders, and the font is now different. Additionally: starting to add bodies of water back on the map, I put the ones I remembered on - so if I got one wrong or you want to start adding to it again please say so.
This actually looks much better. Good job.

I actually accidentally posted the old map link so it was the exact same map, it's now corrected.

New map looks great!
Beishan they were all decided before even I was here. For the most part.

'Pilgrim Sea' is new and I love it.

Excellent work on the map!

A personal suggestion: the spot Z1 be moved and rotated so it acts as a sort of island bridge between spots H3 and S4. I think this would help better explain some of the history and culture of nations like Sikandara and Vangala. What are the community's thoughts?

Also the body of water near Vangala is often referred to as the Bay of Vangala, no doubt being consciously modeled on the RL Bay of Bengal.

I think we should name the Sea between Belka, Ionia and Kyiv the Pontic Sea or something. I think it's supposed to be our game's Black Sea whose Greek name is Εύξεινος Πόντος (Efxenos Pontus). After all its in the middle of Pontus so I guess it'd make sense.

Could we possibly add an equator, Prime Meridian, and the International Date Line?

They aren't essential, I just think they'd be a nice addition

You can see these things on the globe, though it has not been updated in awhile. I'll consider figuring out where those are exactly and adding some to the flat map.

The globe needs updating yeah, but most importantly it needs an update of the guidelines on how to do things. Right now it's a mess with several threads spread out everywhere. The entire procedure needs to be streamlined.

Black Sea with now 100% more inaccessibility! I actually see it more like the Caspian Sea due to its landlocked nature, but I see you're point geographically speaking. I have no problems with the name nor any other alternatives.

On another unrelated side note, I find it mildly entertaining that countries maintain a navy in the Caspian Sea. Being the ruler of the sea would make you the ruler of the bathtube.

By the way, I presume there's some sort of international treaty not to exploit resources in Antarctica, beside the fact its freezing down there and no one has any reason to be there?

Technically, Auraria and Ivernia own it, but there aren't any resources to exploit

They claim they own it, but it's not that anyone actually recognizes it I think. This is in IC terms, of course. OOCly, nobody has authority over the area, so if you wanted to do some RP with it, the world's your oister, from an OOC pov.
