The Free Republic of Längerland views the loss of life in the Long Sea as incredibly unfortunate. Regardless of what the truth is concerning this incident, the fact is that vessels carrying civilians should never be targeted for any reason whatsoever. We appeal for calm and restraint between involved parties so as to prevent further loss of life caused by miscommunication.

As a proudly neutral country for 103 years, we are also issuing in this statement a reiteration that our government expects the safe passage of all our merchant marine vessels through the Long Sea and any other sea. Any such ship flying the flag of the Free Republic will at all times steer clear of territorial waters and areas of known conflict. Furthermore, Längerlander Admiralty vessels and civilian merchant marine vessels maintain their principal of rescue and response to those in distress. If our vessels come across seafarers in need or distress, or if they receive distress calls over morse code, they will do their utmost to respond and rescue any and all in need without prejudice to their nationality.

This also serves as a reminder that our capital, Lörrach, always maintains its doors open for arbitration between conflicting parties with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs happy to assist as a neutral moderator. Furthermore, the Free Republic, believing that strong and frequent communication between friends and foe alike can avert armed conflict, is at all times ready to use its high commissions abroad and diplomatic service to relay messages between conflicting parties if no official or direct ties or lines of communication exist between entities.

Galindian recognition of the Milesian Republic
AP Selburg

The United Government of Galindia has decided today to recognize the Milesian Republic, also called in the Galindian circles the Verdarfjord Commune. Chancellor Emil Duerr stated that the Radical Republican Party needs to return back to it's roots and help the peoples of the earth fight for their freedom and democracy. The Galindian Union condemned the violence that escalated in Milesia in the last week and has been a vocal opponent of the nationalist government of Nuaga Airgetlam.

Since the beginning of the military intervention in Milesia, the government in Selburg put the 2nd Galindian Army, on alert, out of fear of a potential spillover of the fights between the royalists and the republicans. The recognition of the Columbanus Movement as a legitimate government of the Milesian Republic came immediately after the Carentanian recognition of the movement.

"We cannot stand aside and just watch as people who are fighting for liberty and democracy are massacred by the army. It is clear that today's High Kingdom of Ivernia bares no resemblance to the country we were close to enter in a political and economical union a year ago. Today, Ivernia entered in the last stages of it's ancient regime, where the aristocracy is desperately fighting to keep the regime in place. Today, the army of Ivernia has broken it's vows. They no longer fight for the country, as the country is represented by the people they are slaughtering. Today, they are fighting for their landlords. They cooperate with the aristocrats in oppressing the masses and are actively joining forces with the fascists in defense of the reactionary dictatorship of the fascists," stated Chancellor Emil Duerr.

The High Kingdom of Ivernia would like to express it's total rejection of Galindia's attempt to meddle in it's neighbours internal affairs. The crisis in Milesia is a terrible emergency and hardship upon the entire High Kingdom and all it's citizens grieve the division and subversion caused by the Columbanus Movement. It is laughable to see a nation reminisce about the lost years of friendship in one sentence and actively support the division of same country in another. Galindia itself has shown it's true colours, a self serving ultra-republican state, which through the years was waiting for a moment such as this to pounce on, no doubt eager to see the High Kingdom's ancient heritage and sovereign rulership come crumbling down in order to enact a system more in line with it's own machinations. Galindia speaks of terrible governments - then supports a movement with no democratic process, and created it's rule through what surmounted to a coup and total treason by local police and military forces. It this the world Galindia embraces? Ivernia shall have no part of it.

Ivernia shall reunite the captured Province and save the people held hostage by radical militias within Milesia. Galindia can muster any force it so wishes, so long as it's sabres rattle from within it's own side of the internationally recognised border. Milesia shall forever and always be within the High Kingdom of Ivernia.

Naval Task Force Would Be Considered "Hostile Act", Carentanian Government Says
AP Rijeka

The deployment of foreign military forces to the Long Sea with the explicit intent of "defending trade from the communists" would be seen as hostile act and acted upon, the government of Carentania announced during a press conference today. Preceding the posturing was an announcement by the government of Sikandara that it would seek regional partners to host naval units by the military of Sikandara, which Carentania claims is an preliminary for open warfare against the Workers' Republic.

"The nations of Europe should make no mistake: the deployment of forces with offensive intent to the Long Sea will be treated as declaration of war by Carentania. We will not wait until Sikandara has moved all its assets into position, until it deems itself ready to strike. The Workers' Republic will employ a forward defence as the only means of ensuring our survival against an increasingly aggressive capitalist world," Commissar Matija Dracar commented.

The open declaration of a willingness to strike preemptively against a Sikandari military presence in the Long Sea was, however, accompanied by the Commissar stressing Carentanias desire for peace. According to the Comissar, civilian trade in the Long Sea is at no danger from the communist states in the region, nor should any of their regional neighbours fear an infringement upon their sovereign rights. "Carentania has an explicit intent in maintaining the status quo of free shipping and respect for international law."

Urging the governments of Europe not to participate in a "foolish endeavour to wage war in the Long Sea" Carentania called upon the states of the Long Sea to reject the Sikandari project for a military presence and instead proposed a binding treaty between the Long Sea states wherein they would guarantuee the freedom of trade, shipping and outline responsibilities for policing the international areas of the Long Sea without influence foreign to the Long Sea.

International Commission for the Long Sea present pre-final version of report on incidences in the Long Sea

Today the chairman of the ICLS, Lorenz Moorbach, presented the pre-final version of the report on the recent ship accidents in the Long Sea and the recent attack on the Sikandari embassy in Solis. Moorbach indicated that the ship accidents have been re-investigated, leading to different conclusions than presented in the preliminary report. Instead of bad weather conditions, the ships indeed fell victim to torpedo attacks. It remains to be investigated why the preliminary report mentioned staving on underwater rock formations due to bad weather conditions as the cause of the accidents. The conclusion that the ships were attacked by torpedos is final.
However, it cannot be determined which ships or submarines actually fired the torpedos. There is no evidence pointing in any direction. It cannot be said whether the torpedos were fired by Aurarian or Sikandari vessels. It is even very well possible that vessels from a completely different country were involved. Or maybe not even a country, but an entity like a group of pirates with blackmail as intention.

Also the attack against the Sikandari embassy in Solis was investigated. It became clear that the AUrarian police did not maintain the required security standards during the days before the attack, and on the day the embassy was attacked. The Aurarian police showed a neglect that gave room for attacking the embassy. It remains to be investigated why the Aurarian police failed their task in this matter; a miscalculation can be the reason. It remains unclear, however, who was behind the actual attack. This is still to be investigated as well.

The Imperial Government welcomes the revised report of the ICLS and accepts its findings. The threat that international shipping faces from rogue forces such as radicals and pirates is something which concerns all responsible members of the international community - whether they belong to a more leftist worldview or to a truly civilized perspective - and we would urge all members of the international community to set aside their differences and to pass resolutions against the threat of pirates and radicals harming the passage of goods on the high seas.

Ivernish National Army pulling back from Vedrarfjord
AP Vedrarfjord

Journalists from AP Wire still residing in the conflict zone of Vedrarfjord have given reports that despite the National Army making major advances in the Vedrarfjord city center, National troops are seen to be pulling back beyond the North Circular Road, the main street entering the city. Just two nights prior, soldiers from Nemedia were spotted breaking on to the Quays of the River Banba, as the Provincial Soldiers were forced to relent to the newly fortified White Dove Square. Reports state this is due to a garrison of the Milesian Provincial army, stationed at Weasfjord is heading straight for the Milesian Capital.

Knaf Volger, leading journalist in Vedrarfjord city stated his opinion on the matter for AP Wire; ''The Weasfjord Garrison is a bold move, which comes with heavy artillery as well as more soldiers. The fact that the National Forces are pulling back their troops means that the ''no heavy weaponry'' tactic of Ivernia is to be abandoned, with a major battle expected to occur in County Dungarvin and the Hinterlands of Vedrafjord.
Using artillery and heavy weapons will be a major turning point for Ivernish Policy. You don't use artillery to shell your own cities. To attack in such a way is almost an admission that Vedrarfjord - and all of Milesia is no longer under Caladbolg's control, rather a foreign entity they wish to subdue and overcome.''

The Imperial Government is monitoring the situation closely. We call on all parties to seek the route of diplomacy and mediation rather than conflict. The diplomatic mission of the Empire in the High Kingdom of Ivernia shall continue to function as is the norm, albeit with a reduced presence of non-essential staff.

Is Political Change Coming to Auraria?
AP Solis

Last week, the Chamber of the Federation – which represents the interests of the Socialist States in the Federal Government – had approved the Verga Amendment. The Amendment would change the Aurarine Constitution to banning all political parties, instead of all parties with the exception of the Aurarine Popular Front.

The Aurarine Popular Front was a coalition of leftist organizations under the leadership of Cayetano Terrazas. The FPA successfully lead a revolution against the chaotic Aurarine Republic, successor state to the Kingdom, and established the United Socialist Republic. Terrazas, the first Chairman, believed factions caused a lot of the chaos in the previous Republic. To prevent the same fate, he banned all parties aside from the FPA. Since 1923, the FPA has held a monopoly on political power in Auraria.

However, today, that monopoly has never been so clearly threatened. In Auraria, there are two methods for constitutional amendment: 1) the National People’s Congress’s three Chambers approve the amendment and send it to the Republics where 4/5 must approve it. 2) 3/5 of the Republics call for a national referendum on a particular amendment, where only a simple majority from the people is required to approve it.

The first option closed today as the Chamber of the People voted down the Verga Amendment by a massive majority. However, anticipating this vote, the Governor of the Socialist Republic of Andaluz has announced that the legislature will vote immediately on whether or not to approve a call for national referendum.

With 65% of the vote, the referendum passed Andaluz. Now, at least 2 more Republics must approve a referendum. The Republics have no obligation to have a vote and it could be possible that they will simply ignore the vote.

The only shred of confidence that can currently be stated is that the Socialist Republic of Solis – which has historically had a complex relationship with the National Government due to both entities controlling the City of Solis – will approve the referendum call.

It remains unclear what will happen in Centierra, Culebria, and Tartecia.

Antonio Verga, the writer of the amendment, is confident the people will not only vote – but approve the amendment. Chairman Santana has stated that the Government will respond accordingly with the resolution of this process, regardless of the outcome. Which is probably the most neutral statement he could have made.

Another stalemate in the High Kingdom?
AP Caladbolg

Following major threats of dissent from the Territory of Formoria - if it's demands of a ceasefire in Milesia and Statehood for Formoria are not met - Caladbolg has had to once again return to the drawing board for a new plan to settle the Ivernish Crisis.

Following many heated debates in Parliament in Caladbolg the Government of Ivernia was reported to have offered a temporary ceasefire to the Milesian Republic in order to return to talks. Where the meetings would be held - and who would represent the two sides in the meetings are not clear at this time. Taoiseach Nuada Airgetlám has not confirmed or denied if he will be physically present at any meetings if they are to occur.

The offer of a ceasefire and negotiations come at a critical time for the fledgling Milesian Republic, with an embattled Vedrarfjord on it's last legs, and Loyalist Lowport preparing a fresh assault on President John Holt's final stronghold of Weasfjord.

Hundreds Dead or Missing in Alleged Cadim Massacre
AP Trier

Evidence purportedly showing the reckless killing of civilians and destruction of a religious building has been provided to media sources outside of Cadim, prompting concern and condemnation among academics and human rights watchdogs. Allegedly investigating the whereabouts of several Army defectors, the video, which has yet to be verified, shows government soldiers rounding up residents of Sab' Shakur village outside the mosque on Friday, July 10, prior to initiating a mass execution followed by the razing of the mosque.

The story has been verified by local Badi travelers who witnessed the burnt mosque and corpses, though the identity of the attackers has not been verified. The Banu Amarat tribe, which populates Sab' Shakur and other local villages, has demanded an investigation into the incident.

The government has stated that an investigation into the incident will be launched immediately, but cautioned against impulsive judgements. "Our records do not show any military units authorized for activity in the vicinity of Sab' Shakur, though we will immediately be validating these records," military spokesman Coronel Salvador Becerra stated, suggesting the possibility that the attack was launched by a rival tribe attempting to undermine government authority. Coronel Becerra stated that guilty parties would be punished under the full authority of their respective jurisdiction, but did not acknowledge Banu Amarat requests for tribal retribution.

We are shocked by the news about the massacre in Sab' Shakur. The people of Cadim can count on our help with bringing the culprits to justice, when needed.

Sikandari journalist in trouble with Government
AP Shahdara

Asfandyar Ferozi, a prominent young journalist working at the Shahdara Tribune, has drawn the ire of the Sikandari government for publishing an article, which is said to be the first in a series, on the situation in Osmaniye. That city, following 1954, has seen a brutal crackdown on radical political forces present in the city and the Sikandari government has rigorously controlled the kind of press coverage the city has received in the past. Mr. Ferozi's article, despite not being subversive in of itself, has challenged the government's monopoly over information. While speaking with reporters, the official spokesman of the Chancellor stated that such trends in journalism should not venture into irresponsible reporting.

The Sikandari government, in the past, has been known for its fervent support for the freedom of the press. However, the situation is Osmaniye has been a rare area where this support has been patchy. Several human rights groups, led by the Idarah-e-Insani Huqooq (IIH), have been drawing attention to the plight of many arrested Communist Party members who have reported instances of cruel treatment by some members of the prisons where they are kept. The crackdown against the core membership of the Communist Party was conducted with extreme brutality, according to some observers, and it is alleged that there were excesses on part of some personnel of the police and other law enforcement agencies. The IIH has brought petitions before the Osmaniye High Court to review these claims, a task which is currently in its early stages in the slow moving Sikandari legal system.

Quintus II in 10th year of reign

The religious and political leader of Gouw Marken, Quintus II, has been in power for 10 years.
As leader of the Dominican Catholic church in the country, he has all power.
Not much is known though about the very isolated country of Gouw Marken.
Due to several international developments, the country has closed its borders 12 years ago.
Visiting Gouw Marken is almost impossible - strict regulations are to be followed by those few tourists.

Jarl’s Council of Svellfjall: The King’s Shield applies only to the fair skinned
AP Rangarrike

A year ago, the newly named King Erlingur I announced before the Alþing his legislative agenda. His agenda proposed the largest spending plan in the history of the country with an increase of nearly 75% from the previous year’s budget. The plan is extensive and provides for infrastructure projects and promises of educational standards that, in some ways, exceed the standards of any other nation. The largest – and most controversial – aspect of the plan includes creating a human services system that is extensive enough to make even the communists of Auraria pleased. He proclaimed that “The Shied of the King shall guard all of Heilagrheim.”

However, the Jarldom of Svellfjall denies that. Controversy struck over just who should be able to receive the benefits proposed by the state: Universal healthcare, free public education, guaranteed housing, just to name a few. The King proclaimed that all should have access to these “rights” but then delegated the responsibilities of managing these plans to the various Regions and Jarldoms. The promise of freedom in administering the King’s Shield, Jarl Magnus sought the approval of the Jarl’s Council to only offer the benefits to those of fair skin and righteous faith. The Council approved the Jarl’s request.

On September 1, 1955, the National Health Agency shall officially open its doors to all applicants, providing free health services in exchange for a higher tax rate. Unless the Alþing takes up the issue, those in Svellfjall of the Southerners’ tone and heathen religion shall not be able to get behind the King’s Shield.

Mysterious fires in major Aeronautics Plant in Ivernia
AP Caladbolg

Reports have come in from local towns in Northern Nemedia of sightings of mysterious fires, in and around the Military Restricted Zone which contains the Aodh-Mór Corporation Aeronautics Development Plant. In August 7th, 1954 - the last time fires were spotted around the MRZ-AMC - the Aodh-Mór Corporation reported the failed launch of an experimental ''manned-rocketship'' called ''Aodh-Mór No. 22'' and the death of test-pilot Captain Alexander Fox.

The Aodh-Mór Corporation was not available for comments on these reports.

Whether this is another failed launch, or possibly an event connected to the Ivernish Civil War is still unknown.

While last August the previous Government had been severely critical of the Aodh-Mór Corporation's ''risky endeavors'' and ''flights of fancy'', the current ruling party of the High Kingdom of Ivernia Claíomh Solais has spoken out strongly in support of the Aodh-Mór Corporation and had taken great strides to remove various restrictions and regulations surrounding their testing, in what they called ''removing the barriers to progress.''

AP Wire shall continue reporting on this story when more information is released in the High Kingdom.

Botched anti-terrorist operation in Roazhon
AP Naoned

The fight of the Caledonian government against extreme rightwing extremism continues. Recently, the Police, together with the Woads have managed to put down a terrorist cell in the city of Pennsans, the capital of the Prefecture of Votadinia and of the historical region of Caledonia Proper. The operation was considered a very difficult one, as the authorities were operating in a neighborhood considered to be supportive of the actions of the National Army of Celtic Reunification and Rejuvenation (NACRR), considered an illegal terrorist organization by the Caledonian government. The same line of actions didn't took place in Roazhon yesterday. An action of the Police to search for weapons in the neighborhood of Divis, another part of the city known for it's loyalties towards the National-Corporatist terrorists has gone terribly bad.

While the police were searching for weapons and hidden members of the organization in the Divis flats, a known stronghold of the NACRR, a mass of people living in the neighborhood has come on the scene, protesting against the police and the Woad Guards escorting them. In the chaos that ensured, the terrorists managed to shot two soldiers in the head. It is believed that they were shot from the flats, thus the menace of the snipers has returned back to the city. In a hasty retreat back to their barracks, a police man was killed, again shot from the flats. As the Woads have returned to their barracks, they observed that other than the two killed in action, they were also missing two more soldiers. A second operation was organized to rescue the soldiers, but as the armored cars of the Guards have reached again the Divis flats, they found the body of one of them shot in the back of his head and his weapon stolen. They had to immediately retreat again, as shots started to be heard again.

Today, the Roazhon Local Police and the Deira Prefectural Police have organized a third operation to search for the missing soldier. More news will follow.

Results the Roazhon Anti-terrorist Operation:
KIA: Adair Map Caradoc (Woad Guard), Donovan Map Cardew (Woad Guard), Varney Map Keary (Woad Guard), Moina Ferch Kellen (Deira Local Police), Melvin Map Owyn (civilian);
MIA: Ewan Map Kenneth (Woad Guard);
Captured: Daman Map Cullen (NACRR), Conroy Map Cullen (NACRR), Gaina Ferch Floyd (NACRR);

The death toll of the war against national-corporatism rises to 34, either killed in action or who died in the hospital. Out of those 34, six were civilians.
