In the interest of common archaeological and historical value, UCLA's Centre for Abrahamic Research requests access to this presentation. Several of our professors have expressed a significant interest in learning more of this first hand account that possibly confirms the claims of the previous 1902 expedition by Mr. Badeaux. Having extensively studied the former expedition, the CAR's faculty is eager to learn more about the details of the matter. In addition, the Centre's faculty request that a representative be allowed to accompany Dr. Blumer and his UT team for the possible 1957 expedition to Kashtan, should it come to pass. In such an event, the Centre would be more than happy to secure funding to help shoulder the expedition's expense.

Warmest regards,

Faílend Shoshan (nee Mahoney)

Massacre of Mourners draws International Muslim Outrage
AP Sagrado

A recent Funeral Procession for murdered Tizonan Muslim Sheik Ahmed Ibn Muktar, nicknamed the "Desert Hound", was brutally cut short by the sudden intervention of Tizona's Armed Police. Although the procession had been lawfully registered with local authorities, the presence of thousands of mourners from all over the Deep Hinterlands, the contested desert/scrublands that make up most of Tizona's interior, clearly disturbed the Armed Police.

After gathering for several hours, the procession was interrupted around midday, just as the procession stopped for midday prayers, with a sudden charge of mounted members of the Armed Police. Several volleys were then fired, breaking up the crowds, as the AP moved to disrupt the procession. Once the funeral bier had been secured, the family and the body were then marched under armed escort to the final resting place.

Some statements were then released, mostly for the benefit of the Tizonan Catholic/Andaluzian settlers in the area, and the number of Armed Police in the area remained significantly higher than usual, and have still not dispersed.

Word of the seemingly unprovoked attack on the mourners has spread throughout the Deep Hinterland, but with the figurehead of the nascent Islamic Hinterland Resistance now dead, it is unclear if or when there will be more dissent or unrest from the muslim Urodah and Nethian populations.

Of course the professors from the Centre for Abrahamic Research of the UCLA are welcome to Dr. Blumer’s presentation in the aula of the university. Representants of the Government of Kashtan, which I thank from the bottom of my heart to allow me to conduct this magnificent journey with such a beautiful result, will be welcome as well.

It will be the decision of the Government of Kashtan to allow me entrance again next year, for which I will apply. It will also be the decision of the Government of Kashtan to allow a representant of the Centre for Abrahamic Research of the UCLA to join me if I am allowed entrance again. I myself, however, look forward to cooperating with the UCLA.

Dr. Blumer.

We are puzzled about the events during the funeral of Sheik Ahmed Ibn Muktar. We understand that the situation is quite tense in Central Tizona, but this action did nothing but increasing the tensions according to us. It would have been better to let the procession continue without disturbance and in the meantime call for reinforcements for the case that things would escalate.

We are most alarmed to recieve such an inquiry from a friendly nation such as yourself, and about such a trivial matter. We would be happy to welcome representatives from Eiffeland to see for themselves that they have nothing to be concerned about. All matters concerning Tizonan domestic security are fully under control, and are handled by the various municipal branches of the Armed Police. We are sure our friends in Eiffeland have seen similar disturbances and occasional, regrettable outbursts of violence from its own criminal underclasses, and we would never presume to suggest that the actions of Eiffeland's own Police forces was ever deficient in dealing with that.

Prime Minister-Designate Farrukh Attends Vigil in Karak for victims of Tizonan Massacre
AP Karak

“I am honored and humbled to have been invited to join all of you,” the Prime Minister-Designate stated “However, I do wish that we could have met on happier times.”

Imran Farrukh was recently elected to replace Anwar Khattak as Prime Minister, leading the first non-Prometheist Government in Jurzani history. On the night before his official inauguration, the Prime Minister-Desginate visited the City of Karak, located on the southern Jurzani shore to join in a candle light vigil being held for the victims of an attack by the Tizonan Police on the funeral procession of Sheik Ahmed Ibn Muktar.

“The prophet’s words are clear. All Muslims are brothers and today we will stand in solidarity with those who fell victim to an oppressive regime. Words cannot properly assess the sadness I feel for those who showed no aggression, yet were met with the full, brutal force of the Armed Police in Tizona,” Farrukh spoke.

Coincidentally, the Prime Minister-Designate has also begun juggling the ethnic tensions that very much so remain an issue for Jurzani Governance. While the Jurzani ethnic group dominate 76% of the overall population, political movers and shakers have been varied in their response to the political representation of the other minority groups.

“It is not always easy for people of different faiths, ethnicities to live together. It is regrettable, but it is true. However, in the Jurzan, we do not guarantee peace by threatening to murder our citizens and this stands as a testament to our resolve to be better. I know there is anger here tonight, but let us show the world that Tizona’s insistence on violence is a remnant of an old world that no longer has a place in our lives.”

Public Statement

6th of December, 1956
To whom it may concern.

While the Empire knows the scourge of religious fanaticism and terror all too well, as the quite recent Augousto-Septemvriana can attest to, we have to wonder whether breaking up an otherwise peaceful funeral procession was necessary in any way but to possibly spark further unrest. We will monitor the situation in Trizona closely.

MESSAGE DELIVERED JOINTLY BY THE DIRECTORATE REPUBLIC

The Mendiak Peoples stand jointly by the governors of Tizonia in their police action. The people of Mendiak know all too well the foulness of a snake among the sheep with the active guerilla war waged on our soil. The sovereignty of Tizonia should be respected by all world governments.

"While we remain the chief defender of the international working class and will monitor the situation closely trough a proletarian perspective, it is the opinion of the Kadikistan People's Government that the actions of the Commonwealth of Tizona-Colada are well within their sovereign rights. It would seem that our age of modernity is currently waging war with one of its most dangerous enemies, political Islam. We must all deal with this threat lest we fall back into a backwards era of religious dominance."

NAVAL CRUISER STORMED AND COMMANDEERED
AP WIRE GETXO

Raiders under the flag of fascist revolutionaries from the Boko Islands of Mendiak have seized a large military naval vessel from the 1st Defense Fleet, prompting a large-scale debate in the Directory's chambers for action. Naval Base Asajuan was mobilized entirely by the Admiralty of Mendiak in preparation for searching for the vessel.

After the long-term civil war of Mendiak, the ardent fascist revolutionaries under the flag of Koldobika Paxtar fled into the shadows and declared a guerilla war on the functionally democratic Directory. Declared a terrorist group by the Mendiak government, Director Bigar Matxia has claimed that "[T]his seizure is the biggest threat to trade and peace in the Varden Sea and beyond."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Public Statement

6th of December, 1956
To whom it may concern.

The Imperial Government is most concerned at the recent developments in Mendiak. Whilst it is unknown to us how the fascist rebels were able to seize a military vessel, their danger to regional and global peace, and especially to shipping through the Pillars of Pytheas (commonly referred to as the "Varden Straits" outside of the Empire) and the Long Sea in general, should not be underestimated. The Empire's fleets are ready to assist Mendiak is neutralising this threat to peace in the Long Sea if necessary, while the Empire would like to make it clear that She shall take all necessary measures to protect maritime trade and shipping in the Long Sea and the nearby Thaumatic Ocean. We call on all sides to remain calm and return to peaceful means of settling their socio-political disputes.

Official [and Public] Correspondence from the High Kingdom of Warre & its realms to the People of Tizona

The threat of radical separatists in the Tizonan Hinterlands are something that is not new to the world, and while we believe that a slight larger amount of caution should have been placed by the hinterland regional police, Tizona was entirely within its rights to prevent an idolatrous parade for a dead criminal. The mere fact that they allowed him buried by his clansmen, as opposed to barred from being beneath sovereign Tizonan soil; should have been enough to keep people from massing into a dangerous mob. Only the immediate family and clan of the Desert Hound should have been allowed to the funeral at all.

Official [and Public] Correspondence from the High Kingdom of Warre to the Mendiak nation

We firmly support any action by the legitimate Mendiak government in regaining the naval ship that was taken rebels; but do not believe a wider response from highly Decadent nations such as Pelagsia, should be allowed to assist the Mendiak Republic. Accepting their help is an offer for them to attempt to force control over Mendiak within no time, and likely over the True Tibur, as well.

Warre suggests that the nations of the free world support the Mendiak government by offering slight drops in tariffs on export of goods to Mendiak and Import of goods from Mendiak, to allow for greater cash flow and stability for the people. We also suggest that the Mendiak nation correspond with our cousins in Tizona about the best methods of counter-insurgent fighting within that region.

The Office of General Douglas McGowan

To The Nation of Mendiak

We echo the warnings of other nations. Although the rebellion is surely unfortunate for the bourgeois lawmakers of Mendiak, we remind the world at large that whatever the outcome, this is Mendiaki business. The people of Mendiak have the power, and the responsibility to create for themselves the government they desire! As well as that which they deserve. Revolution never seems appropriate for those outside looking in, but we do not know the inner workings of this sovereign nation. Only the Mendiaki know what is an appropriate response to this violence. We await the outcome with baited breath, and intend to ensure that no outside force sways the will of the people one way or the other.

Signed; Douglas McGowan General of the People's Organized Defense Force.

We are quite alarmed about the capture of a Mendiaki cruiser, not only because of the impact on the security of the Varden Strait, but also by the mere fact that an ambush strategy developed by 17th century pirates was enough to capture a large war ship. We strongly recommend that the Mendiaki Navy thoroughly investigates this event, not in order to blame people (unless treason was the cause) but in order to learn from it and take action so that such an event won't happen again. As a response, the Eiffellandian Navy will immediately investigate the security on board of its own vessels w.r.t. small-sized ambushes to take over the control of a ship; part of this investigation will be that such events will be exercised.

Apart from that, we agree with our allies in Pelasgia that this ambush implies a serious risk in an important sea strait. Also we offer our assistance to the Mendiaki Government to restore security in the Varden Strait; we will cooperate with Pelasgia for this.

Regarding the suggestion from the Government of Warre to reduce trade barriers with Mendiak, we will investigate this.

The Combined Anointed Realms show concern for this bold and successful attempt by terrorist elements to seize control of a warship belonging to the Mendiaki Navy. The First Shore Fleet offers its assistance in hunting down the terror elements responsible for this attack and retrieving the stolen vessel. Additionally, Congress has voted to offer a decrease tariffs for the export of goods to Mendiak, and the import of goods from the same. This action should help aid Mendiak's long-term economic growth and assist in its increasing strength as a free nation.

INVESTIGATION INTO CRUISER CONCLUDED
AP WIRE GETXO

After a week-long investigation by the National Gendarme of Mendiak into the whereabouts of the naval cruiser, Commissioner Gotzar Patxo has announced today that the missing naval cruiser was discovered to have been purposefully scuttled off of the port of Basajuan. Diver teams from the Admiralty of Mendiak have been periodically cycling shifts of diving for evidence off of the tropical coast, attempting to determine the cause of the scuttle.

Director Bigar Metxia has offered his view of the events based on the collected evidence so far, stating "Loyal seamen apparently were captured or hid themselves during a mutiny in order to stop the Koldobikan menace from attacking international shipping. The Captain's corpse was discovered in his office, so it leads most of our investigators to lead to the conclusion that there was a mutiny from high up in command of the vessel. This still leaves the question open of how high up this mutiny has gone in terms of staff and command. Therefore, today I commission the Admiralty to do a full inspection of all naval officers within Mendiak.

To our friends who have offered support in this grave time, we thank you. However, Mendiak is able to fend off this issue itself - we fought for years to a stand still with this menace, and now we are simply sweeping them off of our deck. In terms of economy, we appreciate all assistance offered by our democratic friends."

While we are relieved that the cruiser has been neutralized before it could be used for piratical purposes, the revelations of a mutiny in the crew opens up a number of concerns. The Combine hopes that the investigation is able to solve the mystery behind this incident, and that any terrorist sympathizers within the chain of command are quickly apprehended.

We hope that the reduction of tariffs for goods to and from Mendiak will aid your economic growth. It is the least we can do to assist a fellow free nation.

Whistle blowers show the realities of the Becker dictatorship
AP International

After he was brought down and the Internal Settlement was declared null and void by the coup organized by General Roman Becker, ex-Prime Minister of Saaremaa Koit Sokk, a former member of the Vasakspartei, the Party of the Left, now called Workers' Communist Party, the sole legal political party in the People's Republic of Saaremaa, together with the former Prime Minister, Kristijan Sisask, an important member of the Prometheist movement, have disappeared from the Saare scene and reappeared a few weeks later in Maseru, the capital of Loago, bearing warnings to the whole world about what is happening in Saaremaa.

Koit Sokk and Kristijan Sisask delivered to Affiliated Press a series of papers in which it is documented the plight of the Saare people after the military coup d'etat that brought Marxism-Leninovism in power in probably the world's most anti-communist country. The papers presented by Sokk and Sisask show reports of the Directorate of People's Security, presenting the construction of a series of prison camps in the marshlands near Oru and in the frozen lands of Kalju and Vendra. The DPS reports show that there were more than 6000 Saare citizens arrested since Becker came to power. The documents also show the plans of the Becker regime to send back to Kadikistan the emigres that escaped in the aftermath of the Kadiki revolution and also a sorting of the Ivernian refugees that escaped from Milesia, the non-political ones being prepared to be sent in special isolated villages in the extreme north of Pohjamaad, while the ones politically affiliated, to be sent to Kadikistan.

The two were received by the Marshall of the Loago Host and the strong man of Loago, Mihkel Vaino. They discussed and talked plans for the future, the most pressing one being the creation of a government-in-exile of the Kingdom of Saaremaa based in Maseru. For this, Mihkel Vaino pledged his allegiance to King Alvar V of Saaremaa and declared that now that the south has been stabilized and cleansed of any dangerous threats, Loago returns into the fold of the Saare Kingdom.

In a press conference organized in Maseru, Koit Sokk and Kristijan Sisask asked the nations of the world not to support the People's Republic of Saaremaa as it is just a pawn of the "Rogue Empire of Darkness, Kadikistan". They also sent insurances to the Engellexian Republic and the Engell States of Camden, Otho-Eam, Mary-Le-Bone and Somer Isles saying that there will be no communist influence of any sort coming from Loago and that the Kingdom of Saaremaa and it's Himyari State wants to be a partner of the Republic to keep Marxism-Leninovism at bay.

The Combined Anointed Realms is appalled by the oppressive activities resulting from the Kadiki-installed regime in the nation of Saaremaa. Principal Büche has vowed to cooperate with the free nation of Loago in growing its strength as a bastion of democracy, that it may one day liberate its mother state of Saaremaa. While we differ somewhat from the Kingdom of Saaremaa in the manner of which we believe government should be run, let it be known that the Combine does not believe in the violent transition of power unless absolutely necessary. But we most especially believe that a tyrannical dictatorship, whether by the one, by the few, or even by the many, is contrary to the divinely appointed rights of all men to freedom.

From the Office of General Douglas McGowan

We are shocked and appalled by the blatant lies attempting to be spread by the shamed government in exile of Saaremaa. To insist that the revolution that occurred there is anything but that of the will of its People, is an insult to working class conscious world wide. The disgraced members of the Monarchy should be hunted down and hanged. I am equally shocked and appalled that the Loago government has bowed to monarchists and silenced the will of its own people. I demand the people of Loago arrest these monarchists, and return them to the people of Saaremaa, where they should be rotting in prison!

In a slight change of tone, we applaud General Roman Becker, and his effort to enforce the will of his people! Why should the fine people of Saaremaa hide enemies of the people within their borders? It is outrageous to think that there is any other option for this leader and his people. We salute the true and patriotic peoples of Saaremaa, and stand in solidarity with both them and their brave leaders. May the enemies of the Proletariat find a slow and merciless end!

Signed,
General Douglas McGowan,
Leader of the People's Organized Defense Force of Sheridan.
