Good Evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s evening news, today is May 6, 2010

Today in Senaki, a teacher who taught for seventeen years was arrested for communist propaganda. The teacher, whose name was not released to the press, was reported by a student after he began discussing “problems” with our society that communism, especially after Carentania’s model, could resolve. The student reported the senseless rhetoric to the school administrator who promptly called the police, who sent in the Elite Guard to apprehend the teacher. The student’s name was Otar Gordeli and he has done what was right for the country as a whole. His heroism was so famous that even Councilor Kote Abkhaz met the boy. The boy is only fourteen and he has met a Senior Councilor! What an honor that must be!

In Abasha, people of the Islamic Religion were arrested today for disturbing the public when they openly went into the streets and began speaking their religious rhetoric. The leader of this group of dissenters also turned out to be handing out religious literature as well as opening his house to religious sessions, hanging religious symbols around his yard. The police considered this to be a church, an illegal institution, and promptly took down religious symbols on the outside of the house. People were pleased with the police actions and call them heroes to society, and so are we.

In other news, Council was assembled to discuss funding the military and other military related topics. Then the Executor met with several agents of the Elite Guard, speaking to them on their performances in the last few years. The Executor then made a speech before the National Academy. Executor Saakashvili stated in the speech “Today, Akhaltsikhe is better off than ever before in history, today we can take pride in what we have accomplished.”

And that’s all for today, good night Akhaltsikhe, we hope for a wonderful tomorrow!

The apparant persecution of thought crimes by the authorities in Akhaltsikhe is a truly deplorable fact. We must condemn the arrest of a person who has done nothing wrong but to speak his mind. It is ironic that those countries which decry socialist societies the strongest as "unfree" are themselves mere tyrannies.

Our education system is designed to present our youth with the tools needed to succeed in society. We strive for that goal and we believe we have accomplished it. To have one of our educators bring in political opinion into the classroom and to go as far as to claim that a Communist Society is better than our own goes against everything our education system represents. We enforce no political opinion onto our children, and we expect our educators to represent it. The educator broke the law and was arrested for it, it would have been no different if he preached another political opinion.

We are utterly insulted at the accusations that we are tyrannical. Our Government works to no end for the betterment of our own people. Our Council works day in and day out to ensure that the people of this nation have food on their tables and can sleep with the confidence that it is safe. We have provided jobs to hundreds of thousands of workers, giving them new lives and opportunities. If this is what Carentania considers a tyrannical government to be one that works for the betterment of the people and has supplied opportunity to those less fortunate than others, then we will gladly take the title "Tyrannical."

We will assume that it is pure delusion and lack of better knowledge which guides your words, and not evil will and malice. However, it changes little about the fact that your country tries to disguise its tyranny as good intentions and its paternalistic intrusion into its citizens life as in the best interest of these people who are kept in thrall by an authoritarian, anti-democratic government.

How can you punish a person for encouraging critical discussion and independent thought? How can you say that you enforce no political opinion on your students, yet expect them to respect your laws, which are mere expressions of your political status quo, or say you "provide them with the tools needed to succeed in society", merely an euphemism for breaking their will and shaping their minds so they mold into your socio-economic system and accept the system of wage-labour without opposition. Your state merely represents a political idea and its institutions seek to reproduce it. Apparently, you perceive the slightest of doubt in the righteousness as hostile attack.

Your government works not for the betterment of "your own people", as that phrase alone hides the fact that your people are no uniform mass with unending loyalty to your state and nation, both merely artificial representations of the underlying power structures. If anything, your government works to no end to preserve a system of repression and economic slavery, the rule of the few over the majority and the work of the many for the betterment of the few.

Your government may adorn itself with borrowed plumes, but its not their achievement there is food on the tables of the people you claim power over: for when was the last time you have worked the fields? Clearly, it is the farmer who is the only one who may take pride in this achievement, as it is his work that guided the seeds into the soil and the sprouts into the light and which freed the fragile plants we humans use for food from the stranglehold of wild grasses and weeds.

You have given people jobs, you say? The truth is: you protect a system in which workers hold so little power and own such a lowly share of the spoils of the earth, that they are forced to sell the sweat of their own brow to a class of enterpreneurs, blessed by heritage or luck with riches beyond their own need, who sell it off for the sole reason of further profit. These jobs, you praise so much, are mere wage-slavery, nothing but the expression of sheer need and no one, would he not be forced by the threat of poverty that awaits those who do not confirm in your country, would willingly sell off his own labour below value.

Yes truly, a blessed country you live in and a wise government you lead. But it is not for the good of the many, but for the good of the few your government truly represents.

While I personally have never been enthusiastic about communism, much less the form that exists in Carentania, I must agree with the Honourable Commissar. It is likely professionally irresponsible for an educator at the secondary level to preach a certain kind of political and economic philosophy, but such is not grounds for arrest. So I must concur that the arrest fits, neatly, the definition of tyranny.

OFFFICE OF THE EXECUTOR

Due to the nature of the communications between our two nations, I have made the decision to intervene personally. I shall make a response by paragraph, starting with; I would appreciate the end of the insults in these communications. I have been in this office for thirty-seven years, I personally fought against a tyrannical government in this nation and I am its replacement, Carentania would do well to hold its tongue, I know tyranny, I’ve experienced it, I ended it. Throughout my time in office I have separated the lives of people and the Government; I have given more freedoms to my people than anyone before me. I do not intrude on civilian life, I embrace their creativity and natural spirit, and thus I do not let the Government get involved.

The educator broke the law of the nation, he was arrested for doing so, Carentania’s opinion on our laws is neither respected nor requested. We do not repress political opinion, we do not care if a member of our society is communist, democratic, or even fascist, but we will not stand for an educator to tell children that our way of life is incorrect and ill, it is against our laws and unethical. The tools necessary for success are mathematics, science, a good work ethic, and the knowhow to obtain a career. We do not teach them how to mindless.

I find it as a personal insult to all I’ve ever set out in my life to accomplish when a nation claims that I do not work for the good of the people. I work for the majority, the majority supports me, if they did not, I would no longer be the Executor. I work for the majority, and I refuse to oppress the minority, that is one of the morals of my leadership. The Council and I have worked to no end to ensure the availability of jobs, to encourage entrepreneurship, and always make it so that the poorest of the poor can go somewhere great in life. I am an embodiment of that, I was born in poverty, my mother killed by Hajr, and now I am the Executor of the nation. Economic slavery is a system that redistributes wealth, punishes success, hinders innovation, and forms a welfare state not designed to aid people in need, but to create a lifestyle.

You have a lot of nerve to question me on the plights of people. I was born in poverty; my father killed for terrorism, I inherited that reputation of treason and terroristic values which still didn’t stop me from working my hands to the bone to supply my sick mother with bread every night. I was a ten year old child that was thrust into responsibility, I know what it is like to be poor, I know what it is like to struggle, do not for a second claim that I don’t know what it is like. The farmers of this nation work hard to keep our people fed, I do not hinder them with taxes, I encourage their work, I am proud of their work.

The Mining Company that I started has employed nearly 1 million people, 1 million brought out of poverty. Poverty levels have decreased since my time in office. That isn’t slavery - that is the beauty of Capitalism. It is typical for a communist nation to attack the intravenous and other businessmen in a nation, the people who create wealth and benefit a society as a whole. We provide opportunity in this nation that is all we look to do for the people in poverty. I have been able to do so much for the benefit of everyone by doing things this way. I suggest you criticize our mining company in front of people whose lives have been saved by the program, see how they feel on your words.

Religion’s hindrance on society is not present here, and yes it is a wise government. Our government works for the majority, but doesn’t oppress the minority. Our government benefits everyone in one way or another. I do not wish for this back and forth between our nations, Carentania has gotten their word through, we find it horrifically misguided and something tells me you feel the same about ours. We would appreciate for this to cease.

Signed,
Zviad Saakashvili

We would not arrest someone for speaking their political opinion; we arrested him because he broke a law that was set in place in the 1980s, not because of political opinion. Call it tyranny if you will, we do not see it as tyranny.

Again, a lot of pathos and drama, but nothing of substance. It is populism with which the reaction tries to sell its politics to the people, for if they would be honest about the underlying goals and principles of their actions, they would risk open rebellion. And Mr. Saakashvili can cite his own fate and story as many times as he wishes, it becomes neither the fate of all the people forced to live under his rule, nor an universal truth of capitalism. As already stated, by mere manners of chance your person has risen to a socio-economic position in which he, thoughtlessly and without fear of having to repay all that is given to him, enjoys the merits of capitalism.

For those merits exist - for selected few. They are the ceaseless expropriation of the working class, the theft of their labor force which make the filthy and corrupt wealth of the capitalist class possible. It is a filthy and corrupt wealth, not for being wealth, but for being based on the coercion of the proletariat, a system of rigid economic structures that allow only the fate of starvation and poverty or the sale of ones own labor force below value. It is here, that you show to us you know nothing about the facts of economic reality - or at least don't wish to see it. Your oh so marvelous jobs have not helped millions out of poverty.

Millions forced by poverty to accept a job in order to survive have helped you acquire your riches. It is their work, from which all the wealth of your person and all the wealth of your nation stems from. And you keep lying to them, saying it is enterpreneurial spirit that created the goods and services that make for a good and enjoyable life. You wanted us to criticize your mining company in front of the people employed by you and see how they feel about it? I am sure they feel a lot better, because we acknowledge their work, we acknowledge the hard days they spend, toiling and toiling just to make ends meet. We do not tell them they have to be thankful for the great gift of an employment. It is not a gift, working is hard, each and every day and sometimes, you rightfully feel like not showing up at all. And still they do it, only so you take the largest share of their labor, term it profit and keep it to yourself.

Alas, let us focus at the issue at hand here. Apparently, your country feels the need to punish "communist propaganda". And encouraging critical thought in children is deemed so dangerous by you, that you go as far as arresting a teacher for promoting it. Such laws stand in direct contradiction to the values of democracy and acting according to them is no more than oppression.

The Kingdom of Belmont and the Carentenian State have long disagreed on numerous matters but the recent arrests in Akhaltsikhe have been seen as a gross violation of the right of self expression and freedom of speech. In both, Abasha and Senaki, cases, those arrested were exercising the rights mentioned above.

The Kingdom of Belmont calls for the regime of Akhaltsikhe to release those arrested immediately. Failure to comply with international laws will result in the increased isolation of the regime and suffering of the people. If the regime of Mr. Saakashvili is truly fighting for liberty and freedom, release those arrested.

The criminal Akhaltsikhi regime has long been known as one of brutal oppression and grave violations of basic human rights. It exists only because of a rigid, inhuman policy of racial segregation and apartheid which has kept tens of millions of Arabs enslaved by the Christian minority for decades. That the dictator and war criminal Zviad Saakashvili claims he "works for a majority" is an insult to the intelligence of every person outside of the racist state of Akhaltsikhe.

The international community must continue to isolate Akhaltsikhe and continue to enact economic and political sanctions against the deeply racist, unashamedly murderous Saakashvili regime. The deaths of over 200,000 Arabs at the hands of Saakashvili's death squads are silent testimony to this.

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTOR

Hajr -

Hajr would do well to discontinue their rhetoric on this issue. Not only is Hajr blatantly incorrect, they are also hypocritical. Hajr has laid down their oppressive nature onto my people for centuries; they’ve instigated two wars in the last 100 years that have decimated some of the largest cultural sectors of the country. Hajr slaughtered families, including my own; they’ve killed our council and stole national monuments. How many innocents has Hajr proudly murdered?

Never in my time in office have I ordered a death squad. I do not believe in executions, I believe in a right to life. Hajr’s accusations against us are only based on what they want to be true and what they want the international community to believe is true.

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTOR

Belmont -

In Akhaltsikhe, religion is almost nonexistent, there are evil laws stating you cannot hang religious symbols on the outside of your house for the fact it may offend some people. There is no law that states religion must be destroyed, it is perfectly fine to practice your religion in the privacy of your home. The man violated this and he was punished by law, he will be in jail for six months, no longer.

The teacher in Senaki also broke the law and was punished for it. It had nothing to do with his political opinions; it was law to not speak of religion in the classroom. The teacher will be in jail for six months as well, no more, no less. We understand that Belmont sees things differently and we respect that, we expect the same treatment.

PBC - New Prison Policy

Good Evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s evening news, today is May 10, 2010

Today, Minister of Finance, Zurab Nadarejshvili went before Council because he believes he has a new plan that could save the Government a significant amount of money. For years the Finance Ministry has been looking into ways to maintain a stable budget with such a low tax burden. One of the problems that the Ministry discovered that National Prisons were a huge drain on the budget. Nadarejshvili said that the problem comes from providing food, facilities, clothes, and other commodities to thousands of people, and the Government isn’t getting a single monetary benefit in return.

Many things have been done in the past in an effort to diminish the costs, including a “lights out” policy which limited the amount of time a Prison could have certain lights on, instead of three meals a day there were two and a snack, the quality of food was decreased, shower times were shorten, and many luxuries were cut. Despite all that, Nadarejshvili says, the Government is still losing a large amount of money, and therefore a new policy has been presented. Under Nadarejshvili’s plan, companies, people, and even the Government will be able to hire the prisoners to do work that they need done. Nadarejshvili states that this will limit the amount of time a prisoner spends in the prison, eliminating even more costs, and bringing into money from the companies who purchase the services.

Council put much consideration to the bill, but ultimately signed it into law by a vote of 10 in favor, 1 opposed. The Executor, one of the in favor voters, signed the bill into law. As soon as the law went into effect, companies from across the nation immediately put in requests. Nadarejshvili stated that within the first few hours, the Government gained the potential of getting A$120,000. Prices vary from job to job, but most are turning out to be in support for this new legislation.

In other news, Barazi’s Rehber and Executor Saakashvili met and are currently discussing foreign affairs in the Council Building in Tetri Tsqaro. Because the meeting is still going on, we cannot provide many details on the meeting. Several nations spoke out against the arrests made on the 6th, but Executor Saakashvili went back claiming that none of the nations understand the conflicts that are present in Akhaltsikhe and what is being done to prevent said conflicts from erupting. Hajr went so far as to falsely claim that Executor Saakashvili had been responsible for the deaths of over 200,000 Muslims. The Executor responded that Hajr was using false information to attempt to incriminate Saakashvili, and made no mention of the countless lives that were ended by the war machines of Hajr’s imperialist army.

And that’s all for today, tune in next time!

Good Evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s evening news, today is May 16, 2010

Today, we have tragic news. Executor Zviad Saakashvili has just suffered a heart attack. The Executor was rushed to Tetri Tsqaro National Hospital where he is currently being treated. Doctors have announced that it may be some time before Saakashvili returns to full health and they’d like him to stay in the hospital until they themselves say he is able to return to his duties. The Council went to the hospital to visit Saakashvili where they spoke to the Executor and gave him the best of wishes.

As is stated in the Constitution, the Executor is unable to hold his office for the time being. Saakashvili will remain the Executor, but an Acting Executor will be chosen to fulfill the duties of the office until Saakashvili can return to his duties. Kote Abkhaz was sworn in as Acting Executor about a hour and a half after the Executor was rushed to the Hospital. Abkhaz sends his best regards and wishes to the Executor and will “Keep the country safe and operating.”

Already Abkhaz called for the Council to convene. Abkhaz stated that it may be necessary for the League of Ten to be assembled, since their last assembly was in 2005. The other councilors agreed that the League is overdue, but they were reluctant to assemble it at this time and ultimately voted down Abkhaz’s request.

We will have more on this story as it develops.

From the Rehber of Barazi

It pains me to write this only so close after our meeting. Barazi is in sorrow as it feels as if one of our own has been harmed. It's with great optimism that I hope my friend Zviad Saakashvili will recover from this unexpected turn in his life. Our hopes are with you.

The Republic sympathizes with Akhaltsikhe's loss, as the President of Jizhou was also recently hospitalized with heart problems. Just as the Republic and the Commonwealth have much in common, so too do the President and the Executor. Both are venerable leaders and fathers to their respective nations, both are pained by recent conflicts among their people.

The Republic of Jizhou sends her heartfelt condolences, the Executor's health is in our hearts. President Zhang hopes he will be able to visit his old friend soon, when both have made a full recovery.

Good Evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s Evening News, today is May 17, 2010

Today, Acting-Executor Abkhaz met with the Council and proposed adding a 12th and 13th Councilor to the Council. The Acting-Executor claimed that in order to maintain the Meritocracy a new Councilor must be added so that the Acting-Executor loses the ability to be the tiebreaking vote. Currently, there are eleven Councilors, including the Executor, meaning, that if the vote is ever split by 5 to 5, the Executor makes the final decision in the vote. The Acting-Executor called this ability “too dictatorial.” He claimed that if a 12th and 13th Councilor was added to the Council, then there could never be a tie.

The Acting-Executor claimed that a 13th was needed because the Council couldn’t have an even number of members, for fear of an all around tie. The Acting-Executor also added that his Council seat was Vacant and requested that the situation be resolved immediately.

The Council debated over the matter of adding new Councilors, a move that hasn’t ever been done before. They unanimously agreed that Executor Saakashvili would return to his post soon so they came to the decision that Abkhaz could hold both the position of Acting-Executor and Senior Councilor. The Acting-Executor was pleased with this and said that he wanted Council to think long and hard about the decision to add more Councilors, because it was an important decision.

In other news, the nations of Barazi, Jizhou, and Cidonia have given their condolences for our Executor. However, no other nation did so. Acting-Executor Abkhaz gave his thanks to the three nations and later stated “it is my firm belief that other nations haven’t sent condolences because they’re hoping the heart attack would have killed Executor Saakashvili and are upset that it didn’t.” The nation of Cidonia reopened their borders earlier today and expressed interests in wanting to reestablish Embassies. Acting-Executor Abkhaz showed support and urged that Akhaltsikhe act friendly towards this nation, but claimed that he wasn’t the Executor and wouldn’t make a foreign policy decision without his consent. Also, the nation’s new Prison Policy has risen a staggering A$2.1 Million since its enactment. The money is being sent to relief efforts in the South.

That’s all for today, tune in next time!

WE INTERRUPT YOUR REGULARILY SECHEDULED PROGRAMING FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE ACTING-EXECUTOR

“People of Akhaltsikhe, recently, Akhaltsikhe and Barazi made an economic pact to commit our nations’ economies to each other, promoting the betterment of our two people. From that day, Executor Saakashvili stated that there would be a relationship with Barazi that Akhaltsikhe has lacked throughout our history. In my time as Acting-Executor, I plan to show that same commitment to Barazi. To us, Barazi is more than just an economic friend; they are an ally of this nation.

On this day, May 19, 2010, Životinje invaded Barazi. Imperialist forces are something that Akhaltsikhe knows well; we know the same these bellicose nations have plagued us since the beginning. I am not this nation’s Executor, but I will not stand for the invasion of Barazi and I have my doubts that Saakashvili would be any different.

I have officially asked the Council for a declaration of war upon Životinje, a nation that is bellicose and unnecessarily militant. This nation has attacked an ally of ours, and we won’t tolerate it. Whether it is back in 1947 or 1973, we know what it is like to be attacked by a belligerent, bellicose nation and have the international community ignore the blatant violations made against us. We will not stand by as this happens to Barazi. If the Council of Nations is truly an international peace keeping organization, then they will intervene, they will intervene to bring peace to the region, not a political defeat on Barazi or Životinje. The Council has approved the declaration of war and I am here to announce that the nation is at war with Barazi against Imperialism brought on by Životinje. We will fight for Barazi like they were our own. Initially, we will send 30,000 troops to Barazi and will help with defensive measures. Depending on the Council of Nations’ actions in the war, we will either increase or decrease our troop levels in the nation.

I hope for peace, every day I hope for peace, but unfortunately for us, there are those who do not share this goal.”

Good evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s evening news, today is May 20, 2010

A very eventful day today, Akhaltsikhe is at war as Acting-Executor Kote Abkhaz requested that Council declare war on Životinje for their unprovoked invasion of Barazi. So far, only Wiese has spoken out against the invasion. Živtotinje sent out a letter criticizing Akhaltsikhe’s intervention in the conflict to which Acting-Executor Abkhaz replied saying that Životinje is to the villain, as we are the heroes. Abkhaz claimed that the nation will stand in defense of Barazi and do whatever is necessary to ensure their independence. Životinje made mention of possible peace negotiations between the two nations to where Abkhaz denounced them as being “nothing more than talks of Barazian Surrender.” Thirty thousand troops are being assembled for immediate deployment to Barazi, they should be arriving by Saturday if all goes as planned.

Also, yesterday, the Sultanate of Hajr announced that they arrested five Akhaltsikhi civilians in their nation on the accusations of drug trafficking and illegally being present in the country. Acting-Executor Abkhaz requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send a message to Hajr asking for the return of these civilians to Akhaltsikhe so that they may face trial in the country of their origin. The Acting-Executor said that relations have never been good with Hajr, and he wished Hajr would comply so that relations wouldn’t be thrown into turmoil.

Another major development is the announcement that the League of Ten will be assembled on May 22, 2010 to talk about the situation with Executor Saakashvili’s medical condition. The Dean of the National Academy said that it is essential that the League be formed because of the failure to do so in 2009 and the recent crisis in Barazi. Acting-Executor Abkhaz said he is happy that the League is being formed.

Good evening, you’re watching the Public Broadcasting Center’s evening news, today is May 23, 2010

Today we have astonishing news. Executor Zviad Saakashvili has stated he will resign on June 1, 2010. Saakashvili said that he had spent 37 years in the office and now the stress of it and age were getting the better of him. Medical reports released by Saakashvili showed that his health is indeed deteriorating. Saakashvili told the League of Ten to choose someone who has the most experience and all around best fit for the position. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but rumors are saying that Miniter Kikabidze and Acting-Executor Abkhaz are the candidates for the position of Executor.

Also, the Minister of Finance announced that the current method in which the Government gets its money is flawed. The mobilization has cost the Government billions, and threw everything into deficit. The Finance Minister said he was concerned over whether or not the Miners would get their paychecks in full at the end of the week. The Finance Minister also stated that the heavy taxes on businesses were adversely affecting the nation. Acting-Executor Abkhaz agreed with the Finance Minister and stated that it might be time for a change in the nation’s financial system.

The League of Ten is also going to choose one more Councilor, to give the Council 12 members and make it so the Executor losses the tie breaking votes. Acting-Executor Abkhaz was pleased with the League’s decision and said that Zurab Nadarejshvili, the Minister of Finance, was an excellent choice for the job.

The Republic understands the need for change, progress, and to look after the Executor's health. But we, the people of Jizhou, will sorely miss Executor Saakashvili, as he was always a good friend to the Republic, and a personal friend to many in our government. We wish the future Executor and the people of Akhaltsikhe well in the future and will continue to provide all the support and bilateral exchanges the Republic and the Commonwealth have historically enjoyed.

To a bright tomorrow for all peoples.

-Guan Zhaoji, Ambassador in Tetri Tsqaro for the Republic of Jizhou
