Chancellor to put before the National Assembly an increase in the military budget

Chancellor Carlos Martinez told reporters this morning that his Government will be asking the National Assembly for an “comprehensive and general increase” of the nation's military budget. With the end of AGE, the situation in Wazistan stabilizing but still fragile, and the current troubles in the East, Frescania's ability to defend herself are “not enough” said the Chancellor.

The budget is expected to be around $39 billion, which would be an increase of $25 billion from the current $14 billion. The National Assembly is expected to have a heated debate regarding the increase, which will probably lead to higher taxes.

The Chancellor told reporters that he did not “like to increase our citizens' taxes, but our national security must be one of our main priorities now that the Alliance has been dismantled.” The Chancellor's party is expected to vote in favor of the increase, but the opposition is already looking towards November, when elections for the National Assembly are set to take place.

Government recognizes Eastern states

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Julio Valdez told the press that starting today, the policy of non recognition of the Eastern states will be abandoned, stating that Frescania will welcome ambassadors from those nations.

The move comes days after the disbandment of AGE and the proposal increase in military spending by Frescania. Mr. Valdez said the move came after “intense review of the non recognition policy.” The change also comes after the recent crisis between Oikawa and Jizhou continues to grow over the latter's invasion of Tenzing.

The Foreign Ministry is already looking for ambassadors for the states of Aryana, Sarmantian Republic, Polatsk, Kyzyl, Bashiristan, Chokako, Tenzing, Jizhou, Kokuryuko, Dravidpur-Tatastan, Seikokou, Transpurgistan and the Lanur Free State.

The Foreign Ministry will be sending the list to the National Assembly for approval within the week. Even with this, Secretary Valdez told reporters that Frescania “wishes the situation in the East comes under control and we call on Oikawa to solve the problem”.

National Assembly Passes Increase in Military Budget.

This afternoon, the National Assembly voted in favor of the Chancellor's proposal for an increase in the military budget. The vote was 375 in favor and 240 against, showing a strict political voting by the parties.

The increase was presented by Chancellor Martinez after the president proposed him the idea. In a statement by the Chancellor's Office, Mr. Martinez was “happy the proposal was passed” and that he will soon ask his Secretary of Defense to “begin all preparations so that our armed forces can begin to see the benefits of the bill”.

The voting showed how politically divided the situation has gotten for the Democrats in the Assembly. All their members voted in favor, and to their surprise, the center-leaning Liberals sided with them, thus making the majority more clear. But the other parties, lead by the Socialists, were against the voted.

The budget increase will make Frescania's spending one of the largest in Europe at $39 billion.

The Republic of Jizhou finds the President's statements on the Republic's legal police action in Tenzing hypocritical while Frescania ignores the atrocities being committed against Jizhou by the Empire of Oikawa. It appears as though Frescania prefers terror bombing to counter-terrorism.

Chancellor visits border with Wazistan.

As the situation in Catamarca and Andaluz continues to increase and pressure is put on the Government, Chancellor Carlos Martinez visited the region for the first time since the situation began today.

The Chancellor, together with the Governors from both provinces, visited the sites that have been created for the people that crossed the borders. The shelters are meant to be temporary, as Fortaleza Real begins talks with the new Wazistani administration on the situation, which has closed the border with Frescania to prevent more refugees towards the country.

The Chancellor told reporters that the steps taken by the provincial governments were “excellent and well planned out” and said he is doing everything within his power to “reach an agreement with our southern neighbors on this situation.”

Many want the Government to take immediate actions, but the Chancellor can only do so much before taking unconstitutional steps. For now, the Government is acting accordingly, even though not fast enough.

Frescania and Tyskreich sign Hertha Accord.

Minutes ago Chancellor Martinez and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Valdez returned from an unknown visit to the Republic of Tysreich. The arrival caught many by surprised, with everyone believing the Chancellor was running the Government.

The Chancellor told reporters that Frescania had signed a treaty with Tyskreich, a northern republican state. Mr. Martinez said that the Treaty of Friendship, Collaboration, and Common Defense bonded the two Republics into “a new democratic alliance that will rise from the ashes of the Alliance for a Greater Europe.”

The Treaty, which was signed in the Tysken city of Hertha, will make Tyskreich and Frescania close allies. The treaty bonds the two countries to cooperate for the mutual security of the states and has many other parts were cooperations with Tyskreich will be done.

Frescania's National Assembly will have to ratify the Treaty. Many also believe this was a master stroke by the Chancellor. By re starting a democratic alliance, the Chancellor has told many that the hopes for a democratic Europe is not lost, and that Frescania, together with its newest ally, will do her best at promoting the democratic values of the countries.

National Assembly ratifies Hertha Accord.

In another victory for the Chancellor, the National Assembly has ratify the Treaty of Friendship, Collaboration, and Common Defense signed by the Chancellor and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Hertha, Tyskreich.

The Hertha Accord signals the entrance of a new democratic alliance into Europe. Both Tyskreich and Frescania have made it their priority to advance their interests through a united front, which was one of the missing blocs in Frescanian foreign policy after the dismantle of AGE.

The vote was a victory for bipartisanship, with the Democrats and Socialists voting for ratification. The Liberals also voted in favor, with a few exceptions. The only opposition were the members of the Freedom Party.

Chancellor Martinez told members of the press that the ratification by the National Assembly signals Tyskreich and friendly states that Frescania “is committed to the secular, democratic values we held dearly.”

The two allies have already began cooperation, with the Tysken ambassador meeting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Valdez yesterday night for talks.

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Blasts Akhaltsikhe

This afternoon Secretary of Foreign Affairs Julio Valdez blasted the recent law passed in Akhaltsikhe as “racist” and a law that “oppresses fundamental human rights”. The Secretary also stated that Frescania will lobby for the appeal of the law.

The law, formally named Wholesome Values Act, will modify Akhaltsikhe's religion's practices. The act makes it an offense for Mosques to be in the northern part of Akhaltsikhe and it calls for racial separation between the two communities.

Mr. Valdez told reporters that while Frescania has a strong secular view, the violation of religious freedom was “appalling” and even worse was the “apartheid part of the act. Nothing should prevent a person from being who they are. This act violates this by promoting discrimination and racism, which we cannot tolerate.”

Rumors have come up that the Department of Foreign Affairs will begin talks with Hajr and other Himyar states regarding the situation. It is also rumored that Tyskreich will be contacted regarding the situation. Whether these rumors are true or not, the Secretary asked nations of Himyar and Europe to “condemn this racist act and come together to end it. We cannot live in a continent that continues to be rule by such laws.”

National Electoral Council Begins setting up for Assembly Elections.

The National Electoral Council announced this morning that it will begin to set up voting booth throughout the country. The chairman of the NEC, Teresa Palerma told reporters that the NEC was “ready to once more help the people of Frescania cast their votes in a safe, and secure location where no one will interfere with their decision.”

The NEC was created by the National Assembly in 1904 to oversee all electoral process at the national level. The NEC is an independent government body that is lead by a 5 member Committee. The committee makes sure everything is set up so that the voting process is as independent and secured as possible.

The elections for the 2010-2011 National Assembly will be taking place the 9th of November. The Democratic Party, lead by Chancellor Carlos Martinez, is expected to win another term, but whether his party will acquire a majority or not is still debatable. The Socialist Party is expected to make major gains, while the other parties are all in the balance.

What is certain is that the recent Hertha Accord and the situation throughout Europe will play a major role in the foreign policy sector. In the domestic arena, the Wazistani Problem is the number one issue.

March in Leon against Situation in the Wazistani-Frescanian Border

This afternoon, hundreds marched to the Governor Palace in Leon to demand the Provincial and National governments end the refugee camps in the border with Wazistan. Many of those marching were members of the National Frescanian Party, the far right wing party of the nation.

The marchers demand the camps set up by the Catamarcan and National governments are “brought down” and that the Wazistanis living in those camps are “deported immediately.” Tensions have decreased with the new Wazistani government taking power, but many of the refugees have either stayed or left to Batavia.

Catamarcan authorities have said that they are, together with Fortaleza Real, working with Wazistani authorities in the border regions to begin the return of those refugees, but while talks have began, the situation in Wazistan is still shaky.

While this is the first big march supported by the extreme right and while the situation continues to pressure the provincial and national governments, many believe the National Frescanian Party will not acquired much support if it concentrates only in the southern parts of the country, yet the fear is there that there could be a small, yet relevant minority of seats in the incoming elections taken by them.

Chancellor Calls for full withdraw of Jurzan by Talemantros and Fulanistan.

Minutes ago, Chancellor Martinez called on the governments of Talemantros and Fulanistan to “completely withdraw from Jurzan and stop the instability of the region.” The Chancellor stated that Frescania will review ties with both nations and will keep all options “on the table.”

The statement comes as both nations unilaterally invaded the civil war torn Jurzan. The unilateral invasion, as the Government is calling it, has been claimed by both Talemantros and Fulanistan as a stability reason for the region, but many in the Government are not believing it.

The Chancellor continued by stating that Frescania “fully agrees” with previous statements issued by the governments of Hajr, Carentania and Belmont. Martinez also called on the other countries of Himyar to “condemn this aggressive action” and to re evaluate their relations with both states.

What it is not clear is what exactly the country will be doing if the withdraw is not fulfilled. Many experts do not rule out military action, but they doubt such stance due to the situation in the Freedom State.

Ambassadors from Talemantros and Fulanistan are Asked to Leave Within 24 hours, Frescanian Embassy Staff Already on Their Way Home.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told the media that the ambassadors from Talemantros and Fulanistan have been asked by the Government to “withdraw within twenty-four hours” from Fortaleza Real following the failure of their governments from withdrawing their armed forces from Jurzan. The Ministry also announced that the embassies in the mentioned nations have been closed and the staff “are on their way home right now.”

The closing of the embassies follow messages by the Martinez Government to both nations to withdraw from Jurzan, which has felt in deaf hears. The Government's move come as news have arrived from Hertha, Tyskreich, where the Northern government has also closed down their embassies in Talemantros and Fulanistan while also expelling the ambassadors of said nations.

Many experts have began to talk about what would be Fortaleza Real's next move. Relations with both nations have reached a historic low, and while trade is doing well, cutting off trade would further isolate both nations.

For now, the Ministry has stated that relations with both nations will be returned to normal once all armed forces have withdrawn from Jurzan. It also calls on the Security Council to prevent Resolution 13 from passing, stating that it will only “give a green light to imperialism not only in Himyar, but throughout Europe” and that it will under mind the status of the Council throughout Himyar.

We would like to offer our embassies and consulates in Fulanistan and Talemantros as neutral offices from which to provide both emergency assistance to Tysk and Frescanian travellers/expatriates as well as diplomatic fronts for any necessary communications between Tysk/Frescanian and Fulani/Talemantran governments.

This offer will stand indefinitely and has been made to keep the windows for communication open so as to avoid greater conflict. Times of low relations, we believe, require more communication rather than none. We do, however, understand why this protestation has been placed.

Chancellor “deeply worry” as Resolution 13 Passes in the Security Council.

This morning, Chancellor Martinez told news reporters that he was “deeply worry” the Council of Nations had “actively supported Imperialism in Himyar without regards to the sovereignty of the region and her nations.” The Chancellor's comments come as Resolution 13 of the Security Council, which blesses the invasion of Jurzan by Talemantros and Fulanistan, has been approved in a 3-2 vote.

Mr. Martinez told reporters that due to this event, Frescania would not be taking part in the Coalition the Council had put together for the Freedom States: “We cannot send our men in uniform to a dangerous location across the seas mandated by the Council when they also approve Imperialism in our own region.” The Chancellor also told reporters that Frescania will be cutting trade ties with both Talemantros and Fulanistan, saying that the invading states had “yet to withdraw and seem to have no intention whatsoever of doing so.”

Rumors have also come out of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Frescania's relations with the European Defense Federation, or EDF for short, will be reviewed in the light of Resolution 13. Sources confirm that the only country which relations will not be review will be Belmont, but the rest of the EDF will be question. “This should worry the EDF more than Jurzan” said Gabriel D'Ormelle, professor of European Politics at Francoisville University, “the EDF is hurting its relations with not only Frescania and the rest of Himyar, but also damaging its image abroad. It doesn't help the current elections for the Security Council seem to be 'rigged' by the EDF.”

No comments were issued regarding this rumor by the Chancellor or anyone from the Ministry.

Chancellor calls on SEEDTO and Belmont to end diplomatic row.

Minutes ago, Chancellor Martinez holded a rare night news conference where he called on the Kingdom of Belmont and the members of SEEDTO to “not scale the current situation as it will only hurt any efforts that are being done to solve the Umbazi-Ascalon Crisis.”

The situation comes as Belmont ended its summit with the SEEDTO members after accusing Carentania and Hajr of accusing the French Kingdom of imperialism. The situation has become more complicated as Belmont has also ended its financial supports to the war torn Jurzan, which has just survived an invasion by its Talemantric neighbor.

The Chancellor told reporters that Frescania wishes peace and stability to be restored to Himyar, but that nothing will lead to that unless “everyone begins to cooperate.” The Chancellor also told reporters that if Ascalon accepts the offer of mediation, he will make sure “ the Umbazi-Ascalon Crisis.”

The Government has also announced that it is ready to help Jurzan rebuilt, stating that Jurzan is now in need of more aid that during the war. What exactly the Martinez Administration will offer it is not known.

accusing Carentania and Hajr of accusing the French Kingdom of imperialism

This is a wrong statement. Nowhere have we said that Hajr and Carentania have accused the Kingdom of being imperialistic - that insult was dealt to us only from the Cakistani delegation.

Protests Continue as Government denies involvement in Jurzan War.

Barely weeks after the end of the Jurzan War, protesters have taken to the streets calling on the Government to clarify whether Frescanian troops were involved in any way in the war. They claim that Talemantine force did not win the conflict due to have the involvement of Frescania. “It is clear that the government took some sort of actions which allowed the Coaltion Forces to defeat Talemantros” said Frederico Grizman, the de facto face of the recent protests.

The Government has stated that Frescania had sent advisers to Jurzan, but that they did not take actions in battle. “Our military advisers helped the Jurzan forces organized, but they did not fight in battle” said a statement release yesterday afternoon.

If the Government does not bring the situation under control, it could hurt them in the upcoming Assembly Elections, which already predict a small majority for the ruling Democratic Party.

Elections for the National Assembly are scheduled for the 9th of November. All seats of the Assembly are up for grabs.
