:!: FO: Anglia is promoting terrorism within Belmont: The Foreign Office has announced that the Kingdom of Anglia, a longstanding nemesis of Belmont, is financing criminals and spies to work within belmont to disrupt the lives of average citizens. The Foreign Office has also said that the Anglian spy agency, RIA, wanted to tarnish the Belmontien image across the world and its spies were caught using fake Belmontien passports.

:!: Continued ISE vigilance in Orleans: With the Government of Anglia being linked to the criminal and spy rings of the southern city, the ISE has increased its vigilance in the city. Already three additional, reported, raids have taken place and arrests have been made. The details of these new raids have yet to be released. So far no word on the issue from Anglia.

:!: Paris Subway to be upgraded throughout next year: The country's capital's subway is going to be upgraded and enlarged, says the Lord Mayor of Paris. The increasing amounts of people using the subway has led to the decision by the city government to expand the city's underground train system.

:!: Parliament security perimeter breached by protestor: A minor lapse in security allowed a 17 year old protestor to breach the first security perimeter around the Parliament. The protestor has not been charged with anything, since he is a minor.

The Kingdom of Anglia finds the claims made by the intelligence of Belmont to be absurd. The Minister of Foriegn Affairs denounces any claims made by Belmontien officials tieing the Royal Intelligence Agency to the infiltration of the country. The lack of security within the nation of Belmont is not the fault of Anglia, and should be dealt with in a more professional manor that does not promote a long standing hatred torwards Anglia created by corrupted officials in the Belmontien government.

The Kingdom of Anglia's involvement in criminal activities in Belmont clear to us. The Kingdom of Anglia's involvement has been well documented and conclusive evidence has been gathered that those arrested in Orleans had links and funding coming from the Government of Anglia.

Claims that Belmont has a "lack of security" are preposterous. The very reason we discovered the Anglia sponsored criminal ring was because of the dedicated work of our intelligence community. The Kingdom of Anglia, in our opinion, is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism.

Additionally, we would add that hatred is not being promoted by Belmont and its government, but by the rogue government present in Anglia and we would like to announce that special visa requirements will be required for all Anglia passport holders, failure to get said visa will result in immediate deportation.

:!: NDI given go ahead to accept Batavien orders: Sources have informed us that the NDI have been given authorization to process orders placed by Batavie at anytime in the future. The source went on to say that the People's Republic of Batavie would be given a LEVEL Two status.

:!: Wiese creates tensions across world, thinks of dropping neutral status: Wiese, an ally of Belmont, has ruffled many a feather in AGE member state capitals by announcing that its Deputy Foreign Minister would be attending the EDF summit, something which implies that Wiese is considering joining that alliance. The Foreign Office has said that Belmont would support Wiese, were it to join the EDF. The issue has opened up debate in Parliament whether or not Belmont should join the EDF.

:!: Millerand in Marseilles, election campaigns pick up pace: The Prime Minister has arrived in Marseilles and will be speaking to a crowd of 245,000 people at a massive PCB rally in the vicinity of Marseilles Port. The Prime Minister plans on staying on the road for a week to campaign for his party.

Imperial Ministry for Foreign Affairs

"I would like to lodge a formal complaint on behalf of the Imperial Cabinet of Ministers, concerning the recent publication which highlights the Empire of Wiese as "thinking of dropping [its] neutral status." The Empire is, at this time, solidly standing by its unaligned and neutral status.

"The current participation in the EDF summit is taking place following an invitation by the EDF for the Empire to take part as an associate and observer in the organisation's Council. At this time, in light of the country's close commercial and political links with various EDF member-states, Wiese has graciously accepted the invitation and is ready to take up the mantle of permanent observer.

"This, however, does not mean Wiese is ready to join a military coalition, or abandon its sovereignty and independence in any matter, especially in the fields of security and foreign policy. The Imperial Cabinet assures its Belmontien friends and the international community that we stand by our unaligned status despite the increased cooperation with the European Defence Federation, and we hope for promoted cooperation with other unaligned countries and other multinational coalitions, such as Belmont, AGE and LFS respectively, to take place."

BELMONT ELECTIONS 2010

When Prime Minister Plantard resigned, the nation was just two months away from holding the general elections, in which Plantard's chances of defeat were high. Support for the PCB was at an all time low. Areas once traditional strongholds of the party were, according to polls, going to vote for PPL or the PDSB. The slip of the PCB, which had been in absolute control of the Parliament since 1990, was imminent. But under these circumstances, Premier Plantard, for whatever reason, declared that he would be supporting insurgents in communist nations. That move cost him his office. Under intense international and domestic pressure to step down, Mr. Plantard did so and Charles A. Millerand, also of the PCB, was asked by the Queen to form her next government.

Upon assuming office, Premier Millerand hastily abandoned many of Plantard's more militant policies and started a course of rapprochement with some communist nations, mainly Batavie. The 180 degree about face by Millerand awarded the PCB with a slight gain of support among people across the nation. The PCB also started to soften its harsh policies towards communists and Millerand completely reshuffled the cabinet and, basically, formed an absolutely new government. That, again, allowed the PCB to gain more support as more and more people saw that Millerand was more of a moderate Conservative.

And now, with elections just one month away, the PCB's support has increased to such a level where analysts are saying that the PCB will be able to maintain its majority, although by a very narrow margin. The news has brought a sigh of relief to the PCB leadership, who are looking forward to another five years of rule.

Although the PCB has, according to nearly all polls, almost recovered from the damage inflicted upon it by the Plantard government, the PPL and PDSB have vowed to keep the PCB out of office. Both parties have formed a Grand Coalition and have increased their efforts to win over more and more voters to their side. Were they to succeed and form the next government, it would be the first time a non-PCB government has been formed in almost thirty years.

Anglia is state sponsor of terrorism: Prime Minister Millerand

The Prime Minister has said that the kingdom of Anglia is working against the Kingdom of Belmont and the ISE had arrested over 50 RIA agents operating in Belmont. The Prime Minister said that the ISE had determined that the Anglia was also preparing for a minor war against Belmont in an effort to damage Marseilles Port and deliver a blow to the economy of Belmont. Prime Minister Millerand said that such accusations were serious and he would like to meet with his counterpart at the earliest to resolve the situation before it got worse.

The Prime Minister assured Parliament that Belmont would not hold peace talks with Anglia, a state sponsor of terrorism, until it stopped its illegal activities and the talk that he proposed was just to make sure that the current status quo is maintained between the two nations.

:!: Navy increases vigilance of Belmontien coasts: Seeing a rather militant Anglia emerge, the Navy has been ordered to increase its vigilance on the western coasts. The airforce, as well, has increased its patrols. The Ministry of Defense has said that once the Kingdom of Anglia tones down its harsh and antagonistic rhetoric against Belmont, the military will go back to its normal preparedness.

:!: Parliament tables Climate Change Bill amidst harsh opposition: The PPL and PDSB have tabled a new bill which, if passed, will work to make Belmont's heavily industrialized economy more environmentally friendly and to keep a check on the carbon emissions of Belmont. The two opposition parties have said that Belmont's lawmakers had to make a decision which would affect the generations of the future.

:!: NDI officials look to Wiese for expanding defense industry: Sources have told us that that NDI, a consortium of all the Belmontien arms contractors, would be looking to hold talks with KIW. The purpose of any such talks would be cooperate with the Wieser arms industry.

General Elections 2010 Update

:!: Parties spending millions on advertising: The election advertising is earning media outlets millions of Francs, says one analyst. According to him, the parties are spending at least 30 million Francs in each province just on advertising. The figures are higher than in past elections. Many believe since the upcoming election will result in a Hung Parliament, the political parties are doing everything in their power to gain support to avoid that possibility from materializing.

:!: Election Commission puts electorate at 45 million: The EC has announced that the electorate now stands at 45 million and polls were showing that the voter turnout would be high in next month's election. The EC estimated that the turnout would be between 80% to 95%. The EC said that in the past few months, five million additional people had registered themselves as voters. Most of these people were in the 18 - 25 age bracket.

:!: PCB dirty ads may hurt the party, says commentator: Lucille Sant Avril, a leading political commentator, has said that the PCB's aggressive ads, in regards to the PPL and PDSB, could potentially hurt the party in its results. She said "Lets not forget, the PCB was very unpopular a couple of months ago. The recent boost in popularity should not make them think that they can alienate people by using dirty ads."

The accusations of Belmont towards Anglia are false and are found to be very hypocritical. It was not too long ago that Belmont publicly funded Communist "guerrillas" that can be classified as terrorists, for personal gain. The King of Anglia along with the Prime-Minister will be awaiting your decision to meet them, and are very excited to start discussions with Mr. Millerand.

The Kingdom of Belmont will only attend any such talks after the Kingdom of Anglia expressly states that it would be halting its subversive activities against Belmont. This is our only request.

Pre-budget report shows aggressive spending by government

Yesterday in Parliament, Finance Minister Christine Lagarde announced the pre-budget findings to the people's representatives. According to the Finance Minister's speech, the country had fully recovered from 2006's Banking crisis and the economy had grown by 7 to 8 percent throughout 2009 and by next year, thanks to CEPA2009, would grow at an average of 10%. Ms. Lagarde also said that the unemployment rate was down to 3% and the government would further lower the rate by .95% within a year. The Finance Minister's speech also covered the exports, which according to her had slipped by €M30,000,000 and she alerted the Parliament to the drop in arms exports. Ms. Lagarde also pointed out that the country could stand to make €M150,000,000 were it to export its electricity surplus to neighboring countries.

When asked by her counterpart in the Shadow Cabinet, how much money the social service sector was to recieve, Ms. Lagarde said that the sector would be given more importance in the coming year and the coming budget would increase spending on schools, hospitals and police and fire stations by €M1,500,000,000. The Finance Minister also said that the government would lower the taxes for middle classes and keep the current rate for people earning over 150,000 euromarks per annum. The finance minister also said that the defense budget would remain at its current level. When asked about continued government support of the arms industry, she said that the government would be increasing its financial support of the arms industry by 5%.

Then when the Leader of the Opposition, Shahrazad Martinque, asked what the government planned to do to provide security to the Port of Marseilles seeing the current antagonistic relationship with Anglia and the threat that country could pose to Marseilles and its port, the Finance Minister said that the navy would be increasing its patrol fleet and the coast guard was being given an undisclosed amount of money to increase its strength on the western coast.

By the end of the session, the opposition deemed the pre-budget report adequate but said that the amount of spending was far too much and would result in public debt rising even more.

Minor Parties to play bigger role in next Parliamentary seating, say analysts.

Several analysts have said that since polls point to a hung parliament, minor and regional parties will undoubtedly be of major importance to the bigger national parties and some have started calling the smaller parties the Kingmakers of the next elections. It also means that the national parties will almost constantly be on the edge due to the threat of the minor parties to defect to the other side. Rumors have it, that the major parties are talking to the many, many minor parties and making agreements for the post election set up.

It is very disappointing that after the Anglians had graciously accepted the invitation, the Belmontian government would then place conditions on a meeting that has the potential to bring a peaceful and satisfactory conclusion to the long standing animosities that have existed between the Kingdoms of Belmont and Anglia. Is it the Belmontian government's wish that the Kingdom of Mayaland come to the conclusion that the Anglians have a greater desire to bring an end to these disagreements than do the Belmontians?

 Pressure up on FO to decline Mayaland sponsored talks for Anglo-Belmontien ties

The major political parties of the nation (PPL, PDSB, MD, PdJ) have all issued statements where they have called on the government to decline the Mayaland initiative to bring some sort of understanding between the Kingdoms of Anglia and Belmont. The parties, in their separate statements, have said that Anglia was actively funding terrorists in Belmont and was trying to ruin Belmont's image on the international stage. The PPL, in its statement, went on to state that the government would lose its legitimacy in the eyes of the people were to it to sit down and talk to representatives of Anglia, who, for many, are sponsoring terrorist and other criminal activities within Belmont.

The statement by the PDSB, a centre-left party which had been in favor of normalizing relations with Anglia before the Anglia sponsored crime ring was discovered in Orleans, also said that the government would receive full support of the opposition parties were it to decline the invitation to talks.

With elections barely a few weeks away, it is most likely presumed that the parties want to show the PCB as a weak party and want to make full use of the Anglia/Belmont hostility. Now, the ball in the PCB's court. Will it decline the talks and increase the chances of winning the election? Or will it take part in the talks and lose credibility and, ultimately, the general election? Only time will tell.

Election campaigns using prostitutes to buy people's vote by offering sex

I would like to bring a serious offense by some campaigns to the public's attention. Last night, while I was out with friends in Marseilles, several of my friends, and myself, were approached by several prostitutes claiming they were working for the campaigns of respected politicians such as [names withheld for substantiation process] and also for campaigns of candidates seeking election for the first time to the hallowed halls of Parliament. The prostitutes, some of whom were male, offered to sleep with us in return for our vote to their campaigns. Of-course, we all refused. But after returning home, I did some research on the internet and discovered that such incidences were common across Belmont and I would like to get this in the public's eyes to stop this perversion of the democratic process.
