PM PLANTARD: "Pragmatic solutions must be found to revolutionize our standing on the international stage"

Yesterday, at a press conference in Grosvenor House, the Prime Minister announced to the Belmontien media a new foreign policy which, by even the most conservative estimates, is very ambitious. The new foreign policy, made almost single handedly by Foreign Minister Shahrazad S. Martin, is more hawkish, compared to the previous Villepin Doctrine, and more proactive. The Sherry Doctrine, as we are choosing to call it, calls for supporting regimes across the world devoted to the preservation of democracy and human rights. The Sherry Doctrine is also noted for its harsh stance on communism, although not much detail is given related to this in the Press Copy.

The Prime Minister, after explaining a few features of the new doctrine, went to state that he supported Belmont joining either the EDF or AGE but said that he himself was in no position to decide which one was better. He expressed his intention of keeping Belmont as a bridge between the two alliances and to cooperate extensively with the members of the alliances and the alliances as a collective. The Prime Minister also said that he would maintain Belmont's embargo on the IRB member states.

The Prime Minister announced, triumphantly, that he would be embarking on state visits to Montelimar, Lorraine, Wiese, Franken, Frescania and Austurland. The Prime Minister said the purpose of the visit was to "meet up with old friends and discuss plans for a stable and secure future." The Prime Minister said that the Foreign Minister would also embark on her own tour to Oikawa, the Levantine States, the Skansige Staatsunion and Arendaal to "make friends in regions we have ignored in the past." It seems the Queen also is taking part in the PR campaign, her Office has announced that the Queen would embark on her own state visit to the Kingdoms of Montelimar, Lorraine, Marquette, Franken and Austurland. The Queen has also indicated she would visit the Papal States and Talemantros for a private audience with the two Patriarchs.

The Prime Minister went on to state that he would invite his counterpart from Marquette to "demolish the lines of division" between the two francophone states which has existed since the 1799 invasion of Belmont by Marquette. The Prime Minister said that the continued occupation of the southern territory of Bilbao, which had been Belmontien till 1799, by Marquettan forces is against international law and he felt that the issue had to be discussed properly and resolved definitively.

The Prime Minister added that he was appalled by the continued suffering of the Wazistani people and he wanted to assure the Wazistani nation and people that Belmont would remain committed in aiding the Ijad government in controlling the rebel movements which operate within the country. The Prime Minister said that he was acutely aware of the dangers posed by terrorism to the Belmontien ideals. In his opinion, religious terrorism and communist terrorism are both equal threats to Belmontien society.

Parliament approves Continued Economic Prosperity Act 2009

The Parliament has approved the Continued Economic Prosperity Act 2009 (CEPA). The act, which was introduced by the PCB late in July, is devised to guide the economic policy for the country for the fiscal years of 2010 and 2011. The CEPA was approved by a large margin, with 450 yeas and 50 nays, CEPA has been sent to the Finance Ministry for a final review, after which, the Palace would receive a copy for the Queen's signature. The Palace has also welcomed CEPA's approval by the Parliament and the Privy Council's Financial Sub-committee has also voiced its support for the CEPA and have applauded the Parliament's decision.

The CEPA 2009 is an ambitious two year plan which aims for creating up to 548,000 jobs in 2010 and an additional 426,800 jobs in 2011. To do so, CEPA has set out to give businesses incentives, such as tax breaks, to hire more staff. CEPA, also, would inject hundreds of millions for infrastructural development which would provide thousands with temporary jobs. The act also will give the heavy industries a tax cut of 5.65% and the government will be required to grant funds to the agricultural sector for said sector to invest in more equipment. Majority of CEPA is focused on the south, the least developed areas of Belmont. While for the north, CEPA only provides the previous policies which have been so beneficial for that region of the country.

Talks with Marquette, Lorraine proposed concerning Champlain Canal Project (CCP) in Orleans

The Prime Minister's Office has announced that within the end of the month invitations would be sent to the southern and south-eastern neighbors for a meeting in Paris. The purpose of the meeting would be to discuss the feasibility of the project and to resolve some minor tensions with Marquette. The Foreign Minister also issued a statement which made clear that Belmont saw immense economic benefit for all three nations and that a collective, cohesive and cooperative path be taken for the Champlain Canal Project.

The Ministry for Environmental Protection has also raised concerns related to the possible threat to the flora and fauna of the Champlain Lake area by industrial development related to the industrial project. The Ministry has said that it would convey these concerns to the Marquette and Lorraine delegations.

:!: Société Générale seeks to expand itself beyond Belmont: The nation's largest bank, Société Générale, is planning on expanding its operations in the nations of Arendaal, Montelimar, Lorraine and Franken. The bank's decision was announced by CEO Francis Bouton to a shareholders meeting yesterday. The ambitious decision was reached by the bank's Board of Directors earlier in the year and was the result of many years of planning. The decision to expand was hastened by the better than expected Q2 and Q3 figures and increased flow of capital.

:!: FM Shahrazad Martin in Nokanawa: The FM is in Nokanawa, the capital of the Oikawan Empire, to start up dialogue between the two states. The Foreign Office is reportedly very anxious as to what happens in the meetings and expectations are rife that better relations with Oikawa will enable Belmontien ties with other LFS states to improve substantially as well.

:!: Defense budget set to rise: The Ministry of Defense has announced that the armed forces need additional funds in the next budget to continue to provide adequate security to Belmontien interests. The Defense Minister has met with senior Parliamentarian leaders and will be testifying in front of the Parliamentary Sub-committee for Defense to show why the armed forces need additional funding.

Prime Minister Plantard's inflammatory rhetoric and aggressive posturing is an unwelcome move from Paris and we urge Belmont to reconsider the consequences of its foreign policy, which in its current form will jeopardise the peaceful and cordial relations that Vangala and other revolutionary states have strived for.

Foreign Office

Since the Great War, ties between the oppressed, undemocratic communist world and the liberal, democratic bastion that is Belmont have been hostile, the new foreign policy is just a continuation of our longstanding positions on the communist states of Europe. Communism, as an ideology, has stood in direct contrast to the values and traditions of Belmont and, to this day, continues to do so.

Though we are still very sceptical towards the nation of Belmont, which flirts with the AGE, we are glad too see that Paris is still a proud bastion of anti-communism. This last is something both our countries share and we are sure that this could lead to positive co-operation in the future.

PM Plantard's sinister meeting at Grosvenor House

[img2]albumid=85&pictureid=1317[/img2]
Premier Plantard(R) with François Barère, head of the Institut de sécurité de l'Etat (ISE), earlier in the year

Paris | Royaume de Belmont:
A few days ago, the Associated Press' Paris branch first started reporting that the Prime Minister had met with certain senior people within the government on the possibility of financing anti-communist groups in communist countries. The report managed to get every communists country in Europe riled up to a point where arrests were made of, alleged, Belmontien spies in Vangala and in several countries the counter-intelligence agencies had intensified their monitoring efforts. Angry statements from Vangala and Carentania were dispatched to the Foreign Office. Our government has remained rather evasive on the news first reported by AP Paris, which has added to the speculation.

According to our source in the Foreign Office, the new foreign policy, which is called the Sherry Doctrine by the media, does indeed, in its full form, call for "aggressive measures against certain communist states which lie in areas of great interest for Belmont." The source did not identify what the regions of special interests were since he did not know. Thanks to our sources in the Foreign Office and Grosvenor House, we can also confirm that on the 1st of November, this year, the Prime Minister met with François Barère, head of the ISE, George Clemenceau, the Minister of Defense, and General Mazarin, Chief of Army Staff. What they discussed remains a mystery to us.

:!: Domestic Food needs met, farmers get go ahead for export of wheat, corn and maize: The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the domestic requirements have been met and the export of wheat, corn and maize may begin. This is the first time that Belmont has not had to import any food stuffs to meet its own needs. The success of this year's harvests was mainly attributed to the personal involvement of Minister for Agriculture, Julienne Orliac, in the affairs of the rural communities and the government's punctual delivery of fertilizer and other needed chemicals. The government's reform in the irrigation system in the agricultural heartland of Belmont, in the south, has also been credited as utilizing the full potential of harvest.

:!: Leader of banned Communist Party dies, aged 96: Mr. George Monet, the former leader of the banned, and defunct, Communist Party of Belmont, has died. He was 96. Mr. Fillon died in his sleep in the Fortress Belbenoit Prison, his home since 1983. Mr. Fillon was found guilty of treason due to his involvement in the plot to assassinate King Francis VI and Prime Minister Villepin in early 1981. He had served as head of the Belmontien communist party from 1976 to its banning in 1981.

Originally sentenced to death by a ten member bench of the Supreme Court, in 1983. The sentence was commuted by Chief Justice Philippe Mazarin in 1987 to life in solitary confinement.

While we don't approve of Communism, we must ask the Belmont government to not take drastic actions for not only the safety of the country, but also it's reputation on the international stage.

The shown conduct by the Belmonti foreign policy chiefs does not appear in their favour. We will monitor the situation closely.

The continuing silence from Paris over the serious allegations of Belmont sponsoring terrorism is a cause of utmost concern for Vangala and with the recent arrest of Belmontien intelligence officers, we demand Belmont categorically denies any links to terrorist groups and ends any support, or run the risk of becoming a pariah state.

The offer of the archbishop shall be considered by His Holiness. Due to his age, travelling programs have to be carefull examened before schedualed.
On behalf of the Papal States, the pope is always represented by the Secretary od the Holy Office and maybe the President of the Congregation for External Affairs.

AP Paris Bureau in crisis

[img2]albumid=85&pictureid=1316[/img2]
AP Paris Bureau Chief, Arianne Fontaine (C), admitted the mistake on part of the AP Paris

Paris | Royaume de Belmont:
Last night, three flustered officials from AP's Paris Bureau appeared in front of the cameras of Belmontien media and announced that their source at Grosvenor House was "not fully in the know" and the AP failed to corroborate the story from another source since in the past the Grosvenor House source had been "spot on". They said that they realized the mistake had damaged Belmont's reputation abroad and they apologized. Ms. Fontaine, the Paris Bureau Chief, has also tendered her resignation due to the incident.

After the press conference by the AP, the Grosvenor House Press Secretary did one of her own and said that the source, which had supplied AP the information, had been identified and that the source's duties at Grosvenor had been terminated. She went on to give an excruciatingly detailed account of what was discussed, which has been summarized by us.

"On November the first, two thousand and nine, Premier Plantard met with the Chief of Army Staff, Minister of Defense, Minister of the Interior and the Head of the Institut de sécurité de l'Etat to discuss whether foreign communists posed a severe threat for Belmont. The meeting also touched upon providing support to Montelimar for border security.

Nothing was discussed which would suggest that Belmont was supporting any insurgent, terrorist or separatist group anywhere in the world. Belmont is a responsible member of the international community and it realizes its responsibilities. While communism is not best suited for Belmont... we realize that communism in other countries might be the best suited for their people."

:!: Opposition parties call Government liars: The two main opposition parties, PPL & PSDB, have issued a joint statement where they have said that the Government is lying when it says that the AP report was wrong. They said that the AP Paris Bureau chief has been forced to resign due to government pressure and the government was trying to cover up its plans for arming anti-communist groups in communist countries. The statement went on to say that they would be calling for a vote of no-confidence in the government in tomorrow's session of the Parliament.

:!: Grosvenor House besieged by protesters: The Prime Minister's residence is completely surrounded by people who are demonstrating against the Plantard government's plans for sponsoring state terrorism in communist countries. While some people in the protest are political individuals, majority of the people are concerned members of the civil society. The protesters also have said that elections should be called or Prime Minister Plantard should resign.

:!: PCB distances itself from Plantard: The PCB, party which PM Plantard has been in since 1971, has started issuing statements which show that they are not in favor of the Plantard government's extremist views on communism. Mr. Bettancourt, chief of the PCB, said that he urged Prime Minister Plantard to resign or face the no-confidence motion by the Parliament, organized by the opposition parties.
