GENERALISSIMO SERAZIN VISITS BURGO-SERENIEN FRONTIER
Inspections made on frontline defensive positions across the frontier with the northern enemy

The Commissariat for War has announced the visit of the First Comrade Generalissimo Nicolas Serazin to the headquarters of Northern Command of the People's Army. During his visit, the First Comrade visited several locations along the highly fortified defensive line facing the barbarous Grand Duchy to our north, and inspected several new installations which have enhanced the defensive capabilities of the People's Army.

The defensive frontline established by the People's Army has been necessitated by the refusal of the Burgundian Government to stop the infiltration of traitors to the Revolution into the People's Republic. The defensive line which stretches across the border has been constructed over the course of a year and a half, during the period when the relations between the People's Republic and the Grand Duchy were most frought. The defensive perimeter is designed to thwart any hostile advances on part of the nefarious imperialist scum of Chagny and is a vital part of the strategy to defend the Motherland from the dual threats of the Grand Duchy and ethno-Burgundian-royalisme traitors.

The announcement of the defensive fortifications having been enhanced comes as three infantry divisions have been dispatched to the troubled provinces which have ethnically Burgundian populations. The treasonous movements there have been supported by exiled Royalists from the regime of the pre-Revolutionary era. The First Comrade welcomes the steadfastness and resolute approach of the Military and the Commissariat for War.

Provincial Secretary Gagnon of Arriere-pays assassinated!
Shock and horror in Bouenville as Burgo-Nationalists attack motorcade

The nation mourns today as news arrives from our eastern province of the brutal killing of Provincial Secretary Jean-Baptiste Gagnon, 51, late last night as the late Provincial Secretary was departing the governmental compound and was on his way to the Airport. The motorcade was ambushed by a set of armed individuals who opened fire on the motorcade. Killed along with the Provincial Secretary were other senior ranking members of the Provincial Executive Committee and many of the police guards who were escorting the official vehicles. The Commissariat for the Interior has released a statement in which it was said that the National Government was sending a delegation to the provincial capital to take charge of the investigation. The Politburo announced three days of mourning in the country and an official funeral is planned.

Mr. Gagnon had served as Provincial Secretary from 1954 till he was assassinated. His political career was a dazzling gem from the earliest days of his Communist Party membership. He shall be missed by those who knew him and mourned by those who loved him. He is survived by his widow, three sons, and six grandchildren.

As a sign of respect, the flag on the Eiffellandian Embassy in Serenierre will be risen half-mast for the duration of the mourning period. Our condolences to family and friends of Secretary Gagnon, and to families and friends of all the other people who lost their lives as a result of this cowardish assault.

The Pelasgian Empire wholeheartedly and forcefully condemns to murder of Secretary Gagnon, in whose honour our embassy's flag will fly at half a mast. At the same time, we are equally indignant at the executions of "Burgo-Royalists" in and the country and would like to bring the reports of crimes against humanity taking place in Arrierre by the Communist authorities of Serenierre in the final months of the past year, which Villesen has yet to address. One cannot help but be concerned that these actions might be used a pretext for a new wave of repression and mass arrests, kangaroo trials, and executions in Arrierre.

Crackdown on subversive elements!
Military Government imposes martial law on Arriere

The Government has informed the press that a series of raids were launched on the international cabal of traitors and bourgeoisie hooligans early this morning. Traitors have been arrested at the offices of the alleged Associated Press syndicate and at seven international "human rights" organisations. While most of the individuals are traitors, a large number of foreign spies have also been arrested. The Government has announced that speedy trials shall be held for each of these traitors and spies under the Espionage Directive of 1946. The trials shall be conducted publicly and with the jury of public magistrates, as required by the law, monitoring the proceedings. The Government has not stated which nationalities the foreigners belong to but it is stated that there are 36 in total. The Government has stated that it shall pursue all legal means prior to informing the Governments of the individuals arrested.

In Arriere, the Military Government has imposed martial law, upon instruction of the Supreme Presidium of Justice and the curfew has been intensified. The military has taken over command of all functions of the police and the province has been placed under lockdown by the Military High Command. The Military Government of the Province has announced that there will be no clemency for traitors and that summary execution shall be sought under Provision 14 of the Espionage Directive of 1946. The Military Government has further announced that over the past week 2900 subversive individuals have been arrested and 790 have been executed by firing squad.

The Grand Duchy of Nichtstein seeks immediate clarification on the status of eventually any Nichtsteiner and Eiffellander citizens detained in the raids against the press agencies and human rights organisations.

It is in the opinion of the Grand Duchy that Serenierre has allowed the activities of such agencies and organisations through its own regulations. Serenierre then cannot suddenly turn around 180 degrees and start raiding organisations on trumped up charges. Should, given such drastic turn arounds, Nichtsteiner or Eiffellander citizens find themselves at odds with the new policies of the Republic, then it is the opinion of the Grand Duchy that such citizens be expelled to Nichtstein and Eiffelland.

We, then, demand immediate diplomatic and consular access to the citizens of the Grand Duchy of Nichtstein and the Kingdom of Eiffelland held by the Serenierrese authorities, their immediate consequent release and deportation to the Grand Duchy of Nichtstein or to the Kingdom of Eiffelland.

The Commissariat for Foreign Affairs states that it will “not allow baseless conspiracies such as this [continued claims of enemies of the Serazinist Revolution that Serenierre does not respect human rights] to come to fruition”. The best way to prevent such “conspiracies” is to allow freedom of the press and to make sure that foreign human rights organisations don’t have anything to complain about. The Government of Serenierre, however, does exactly the opposite. We also have to conclude that Serenierre is rapidly isolating itself, leaving Kadikistan, Gouw Marken, the remnants of the People’s Republic of Cumbria and two small exclaves that structurally lack the possibillity to survive without the help of Kadikistan the only contacts to the world outside Serenierre.
We re-iterate our demands that all people arrested during the raids on AP and the human rights organisations are released.
