The areas that have been selected for the planned communities are sparsely populated. No ethnic displacement happens as a result of the plans agreed upon by the Touzen government and the World Zionist Congress. Not only are we concerned by the open display of the People's Republic of Vangala's anti-semitic agenda of hatred, but also by its implied call for ethnic cleansing on a large scale through the removal of ethnic Touzen populations from the Western Provinces in a fashion akin to the crimes against humanities that happened during the Great War. The Constitutional State - to an extend like no other statehood on the globe - recognizes the intolerable and inhuman crimes of fascism and the implication of Imperial authorities in crimes of genocide and attempts at ethnic restructuring of entire landscapes. The Post-Delegationist revolution is the global attempt at ensuring that these crimes can never happen again, as they must never happen again. One wrong can however not be rectified by committing another wrong, which is why the Constitutional State firmly rejects any notion of renewed population displacement in the Western Provinces, feeling that mourning, education and remembrance of the crimes in question are the more humane approach to coming to terms with fascism's criminal history in Touyou.

The Constitutional State welcomes the People's Republic of Havenshire's Aid Co-Operative's offer at assisting the plans carried out by the World Zionist Congress and the Constitutional State. We will gladly welcome material assistance and workers from Havenshire that seek to assist these settlers. The Constitutional State wishes to stress however that the 'relocation' in question is part of a voluntary program of community building and all individuals in question are partaking on their free accord. The people involved in the program are coming from countries from across the world, giving the entire project the internationalist outlook it aims for. International help for the Jewish settlers in question is therefore a clear sign to the international Jewish community that their struggle for recognition is being valued, and both the Touzen government and the World Zionist Congress are giving their explicit approval to the Aid Co-Operative's plans.

The Republic of Yujin notes that the requirement for increased border patrols of these Zionist settlers implies that the native population itself may not be entirely satisfied with the proposal. The failure of the Constitutional State to initiate a regional plebiscite concerning the issue suggests that the relocation of foreigners may not be welcomed by the general populace, and the proximity of the settlements to the Republic of Yujin's ally, the Seoran Free State, suggests that the Constitutional State may be pursuing alterior motives such as the destabilization of the free, independent and sovereign Seoran Free State.

We recognize these intrusions upon the self-determination of the Seoran people as another benchmark in an effort to supplant the racial integrity and independence of the Seoran people in favor of Touzen neo-Imperialist policies and an aggressive regional objective. This cultural genocide is a stain upon both the honor of the Constitutional State as well as the dignity of the East as a whole, and because of this the Republic of Yujin voices its disapproval of the Constitutional States domestic policies in the strongest possible terms. The Republic of Yujin has, and will continue to, pursue a police of Seoran reunification and independence, and will support our friends and allies in the Seoran Free State in their struggle to create a nation by the Seoran people, for the Seoran people.

It is widely known that the policies of ethnic cleansing and genocide enacted under the rule of the National-Collectivist Party until its defeats at the hands of the united citizenry of Touzen in 1949 have significantly impacted upon the demographics of the former Imperial Province of Seora. Settlement projects enacted between 1925 and 1949 have contributed to a status quo in which an ethnic Touzen populace constituted a significant majority on the Seoran peninsula at the end of the war. The failure of the Republic of Yujin to accept the roadmap for the establishment of a Seoran statehood based on the principles of democracy and neutrality in 1950 as laid out by the Constitutional State at that time has created the intolerable limbo for the Seoran people that they still find themselves in, with the legal fiction of statehood that exists in the northern part of the former Imperial Province of Seora after the resettlement of remaining Seoran population by the Republic of Yujin acting as an active hindrance to a final resolution to the question of a lasting post-war order in Touyou.

Likewise, millions of Touzen citizens and their families still seek justice and compensation for their forced expulsion from Northern Seora in 1949 and the rape, abuse and murder they endured under the yoke of victor's justice. It is the same fate that the Republic of Yujin is threatening to impose upon a community that has now settled in the Western Provinces for over 90 years and which for all intents and purposes can now be considered native to the region. The Constitutional State is aware of the criminal circumstances that led to the establishment of these populations in what used to be the Imperial Province of Seora in the first place, but at the same time will not tolerate threats against innocent people that nowadays have the same right to claim the Western Provinces as their home as the Seoran population did 90 years ago.

The Constitutional State will continue to utilize all its available assets to live up to its moral obligation and sacred duty to Touzen's history that the crimes of fascism and its heirs will never again be reproduced in Touyou. We are calling for the establishment of a Seoran statehood based on the values of life, liberty and equality, a statehood that recognizes the rightful claim of the population in the Western Provinces to its native soil, their home.

The Citizens' Industry Association has expressed its fears of a long-term economic recession due to the continuing economic crisis in Götarike. In a paper released to selected journalists ahead of a press conference, the Association states that the "staunch denial of any economic hardships by the authorities of Götarike and the refusal to rectify existing economic errors while waging a military campaign will perpetuate the economic decline of Götarike and destabilize the Western European markets to come, with the real possibility of the world's economies slipping into an even greater recession than the on they are experiencing right now."

The Ministry of Revolutionary Defense and Foreign Affairs has expressed the Constitutional State's "non-approval and criticism of" the racialist policies introduced by the government in Vesper. "The Constitutional State stands amongst the legions of the righteous that reject the dogma of race. The policies that have been enacted are an not unexpected step towards a less healthy, more dangerous and revolutionary future in Oceania."

A border clash in Aresura has left the world reminded of the strained situation on the peninsula. Coupist forces tried to move into parts of government-controlled Aresura this night, where they were apprehended by Aresurai armed forces. The ensuing 20-minutes firefight led to the withdrawal of coupist forces. Lord Protector Okazaki condemned the incursion, calling them an "unprovoked act of aggression aimed at furthering the strategy of tension employed by the insurgency and its supporters."

Maeda Electronics today released its long-anticipated FourVision (4V) game console. Thousands had camped in front of shops in Nokanawa and other
cities to be amongst the first to be able to buy the 4V. Police had to disperse crowds in Yamagawa after a young man carrying one of the consoles was attacked by would-be customers unable to attain one of the products. The 4V is the biggest launch of Maeda Electronics yet: for the first time, a console by the company will be released near simultaneously across the world, with a release across Touyou tomorrow, Oceania on Monday and the rest of the world on Tuesday.

Although the recession has forced us, and many other Havenshire-based Co-ops, to tighten our belts, we are confident that the popularity of the FourVision Game Console will appeal to the younger generations, and thus help us overcome the current aversion to consumer purchasing. We would be willing to place an order for 100,000 consoles plus a suitable assortment of games with Maerda Electronics. If Delivery can be guaranteed prior to December 26th, we will ensure all tariff concerns are waived.

Okazaki: "Democracy Must Be Our Priority"

With political division in Aresura and the looming threat of civil war in the country, the fear of a destabilization of the entire Western Hemisphere is a legitimate concern. Complicating the rivalry between the Aresurai government and the rebel faction is the fact that several key regional powers have decided to cast their lot with the 'Reformists' - to increase their influence and control over the country's political process and economic assets, critics say. At present, three Continental Navy carrier groups and a reportedly up to two divisions of the Continental Army are helping defend the marginalized Republic of Aresura against aggression from the western part of the island, currently under control by insurrectionist elements. The many sorties flown from the airfields hastily constructed by Continental Army troops this summer are a display of strength and of the resolute commitment Nokanawa has displayed towards Aresurai. Only recently, Nokanawa had announced its intention to construct additional missile defense systems on the archipelago to further embolden it against any would-be assailants.

Lord Protector Okazaki now however has insisted that a military deployment to the island could not be a permanent solution and insisted that democracy in Aresura must remain the Constitutional State's priority. "I believe that the future of Aresura should not be determined by our military commitment in the area. The rifts apparent in the country now will only be healed through a democratic process initialized and carried through by the people of Aresura. National healing will only come about in an environment of democratic participation of all Aresurai citizens, and it is such a process that I hope to accompany in the near future", Okazaki said. "I seek to reduce the Constitutional State's military presence in the area, so that hopefully only minimum Touzen presence will have to be displayed in the country one year for now."

The Lord Protector would however not have his remarks interpreted as abandoning Touzen's assistance for Aresura. "What I am envisioning is not a retreat, nor are we abandoning our Aresurai allies. On the contrary: Touzen boots will stay on the ground for as long as they are needed, and I am fully intending to continue the policies of my predecessor in this regard, who has shown a remarkable commitment to the cause of international freedom and the defense of democracy. What I seek is an united Aresura that can defend its people on its own and respects the democratic aspirations of all its citizens. If and when such an Aresura will come about - and it will come about - the Constitutional State will have no reason to remain militarily involved in Aresura beyond the scope of bilateral defense agreements. This is the plan our Aresurai friends and the Constitutional State both endorse."

Okazaki also announced that his government would provide 15 Million Euromark for the creation of start-up enterprises in Aresura. Bundled with a 5 Million Euromark package intended to assist the restructuring of the national police force and 10 Million Euromark for the assistance of democratic groups and organizations, these funds form the first stage of the "Democratic Friendship Package" plan announced by the Constitutional State to further the creation of a stable and democratic society in Aresura. Negotiations are also underway between the Constitutional State and the Republic to give the latter access to Touzen military knowledge as part of a modernization program of the national armed forces.

Touzen's exceptional and unique code of ethics remain to be an inspiration to the under the former Lord Protector and the contemporary Lord Protector Okazaki. In pursuit of its self-defined noble and democratic goals, the Post-Delegationist use of military force has escaped widespread criticism in a fashion National Democrats will never achieve.

In this spreading spirit of democracy, P.O.U.N.D. shall attempt to rally the likes of Lord Chancellor Felix Ilchester, despite the Touzen Nations incessant criticism of the Democratic Leader, to endorse the aims of the Constitutional State far across the Implarian and away from Toyou.

The Aresuran government has reduced the nation-wide curfew currently in effect to a time window from midnight till 5 AM from its previous duration of 9 PM to 6 AM. Capitol Hill described the move as a step towards the normalization of the security situation in the country in preparation for new elections currently scheduled for April 2012. The Constitutional State welcomed the step as "an important sign to the international community that democracy can only be defended by the legitimate Republic of Aresura."

John
Browning, Acting Foreign Minister of the National Unity Government, today welcomed Zhang Zenyu, the Foreign Minister of the Jurchen Republic, in the temporary capital of Axiflos to celebrate the establishment of the Jurchen Republic's embassy in the Republic of Aresura. Both countries had previously maintained diplomatic relations through the embassies of Touzen in Smyrna and Fengtian respectively. With the fall of the Aresurai capital of Smyrna to insurgent forces however, Jurchen authorities have decided to establish an own representation of the republic in Aresura to intensify diplomatic relations between the two countries and express solidarity with the struggle of the Aresurai people. The Touzen embassy in Fengtian will continue to represent Aresurai interests for the time being.

The Freedom Foundation has announced its intention to expand its operation in Far-Western Europe. The directory of the Foundation said that it aimed to support "critical and independent" voices in countries such as Guiana, Anglyn or Sorlandeten and assist domestic democrats in these countries in articulating their agenda. The Freedom Foundation is also planning to establish an own radio and tv program, titled "The Western Voice", geared at the Far-Western Market. Current plans seek to establish the headquarters of the program in Aresura.

Lord Protector Okazaki is to hold a keynote speech on the foreign policy plans of his administration on New Year's Eve, sources close to the Lord Protector say. According to an unnamed informer, the Lord Protector intends to outline his government's plans for the Greater Touyou area in particular.

Arakaki Highlights Problem Of Structural Global Oppression

Recent statements uttered by Minister of Industry, Finance and Commerce Arakaki Kenji in a hearing before the All Citizens' Congress have renewed the debate inside Touzen about the role of global capitalism and exploitative trade for the country's economy.

Arakaki said that "the problem of global capitalism is that we cannot approach it from a singular perspective. We say that we have abolished capitalism in Touzen, but at the same time international players like Maeda Electronics or Takeda Heavy Industries are perpetuating capitalist structures inside Touzen. By operating on the international markets, they are contributing to structural inequalities that exist in the capitalist world. But that is not all, Touzen is participating in global trade and enterprise, and thus also is subject to the rules of the market as defined by the capitalist world. We are mistaken if we think that economic liberation can be achieved on an one-country basis. Bringing about a change in the economic system is a global process, and we are currently working against our own goal of overcoming economic oppression by perpetuating it. Those cheap electronics, shoes, designer articles - where are they created? In places like Vangala. How are they created? In exploitative, capitalist conditions."

The remarks by the minister have sparked a lively debate inside the All Citizens' Congress. Ever since Okazaki Takuma was voted into office by a grand coalition of MCs under the impression of the global economic crisis, voices have become more critical inside the Constitutional State about the participation of Touzen in a global system that runs counter to the visions postulated by the Post-Delegationist Revolution. Yet Arakaki speaking out marks the first time a member of the new government - or any government in recent history indeed - has openly criticized the role of Touzen multinationals by going so far as to question the way these corporations run their global operations, a topic thus far sacrosanct in the political discourse. Only earlier this year, when former Lord Protector Kaname was still in office, the Touzen government had refused to impose economic sanctions on Solaren following its increased international isolation after the theocratic regime's sponsorship of terrorism came to light. Arakaki quickly made clear that he did not intend to impose restrictions upon the behavior of Touzen companies on the international markets and that he had no problem per se with the Touzen business community, saying that he "did not believe that limiting freedom in any way is in the spirit of the constitution or our permanent revolution, and any attempt at regulating the way citizens operate economically would be a step back towards delegationism", but his remarks have brought to the surface a problem that Touzen society seems to have conveniently ignored for the longest time - how, or if at all, a free society with a free market economy can exist in an international system based on structural oppression, both political and economic in nature. The traditional answer is clear: it can't, and only world revolution will bring about true freedom. Yet with world revolution not happening today or tomorrow, Touzen seems to have arranged itself with the fact that it has to participate in a global exchange of goods with countries producing under unfree conditons.

The minister has now elaborated on his remarks and proposed an alternative to the current system while presenting his new book "Freedom Unchained" at a gala this Thursday. "The Constitutional State must decide whether it will walk the revolutionary road till the end or whether it will partake in the crimes of global exploitation. Change cannot happen overnight, this is the very nature of structural unfreedom existing in today's world. Even if the Constitutional State wanted to abandon all foreign trade today, ignoring all its sacred principles of freedom in the process, it would not be able to do so without crippling its economy. Rather, other steps could and should be taken. We have to look back no further than the earliest writings on Post-Delegationism. By integrating closer with existing liberated markets, first and foremost the Jurchen Republic, and encouraging specialized production for the respective other market as to reduce the overall dependence on imports from unfree markets not belonging to this safe haven of freedom, we can take concrete first steps towards a revolutionary future. This is a concept that was brought forward by the earliest thinkers, including Yamagata himself. The idea of trading inside liberated confines is simple and sound. Only if all markets within a system are free, and produce under non-coercive conditions, can the products be traded freely. In a mixed system of free and unfree markets, societies producing under unfree conditions will always have an advantage over free economies as they produce under conditions of control. Right now however, we are lacking a truly united free market, which is why the reaffirmation of our revolutionary roots is a neccessity. Owing to the change in the global economic structure that happened in the almost 100 years since we first postulated the goals of Post-Delegationism, we might have to conceede that semi-free markets will have to be included in our economic safety sphere, and further theoretical elaboration will have to be done on the subject of economic freedom and its application. As freedom spreads to semi-free areas, an ever-growing part of the world will free itself from the shackles of exploitation, aggravating the merciless struggle of the monopolists amongst each other in the remaining areas of the global coercive markets now deprived of the liberated markets and prepare the ground for the world revolution."

Regardless of how the discourse in Touzen will develope, it seems clear that critical voices have reached the highest echelons of the government. This gives us hope for the future and certainity that critical thinking, which stands at the center of our revolution, remains appreciated in the revolutionary society of tomorrow. Self-reflection does not end with the revolution - it is the beginning of the permanent revolution that begins in every one of us, every day anew.

Allegations Of War Crimes Cast Doubt On Karlskrona War

A video that has now emerged from war-torn Bantyr has the potential to cast doubt on the Karlskrona Accord's version of the invasion of the Northern state.

The video which was uploaded on the Touzen Times' whistleblower system, but which by now has also emerged on popular video sharing platforms such as MyTube, shows what the original uploader described as "racially motivated hate crimes by armed forces of Götarig [sic]." The clip, around 1 minute and 37 seconds long, seems to have been shot with a cellphone, judging from the quality of the images and the way the clip is shot. The person wielding the phone seems to be hiding behind some sort of bushes, with several branches covered in snow shown in the beginning of the video. The scenery then changes as the camera spins around to show what appears to be a residential area in Bantyr, judging from the design of a nearby traffic sign shown at the right edge of the clip. Sounds, possibly gunfire, can be heard in the distance. The camera returns behind the bushes, we hear heavy panting, shouting. Again, the image spins, only to focus on the residential area again. This time, we can see several uniformed men with what appears to be assault rifles, violently knocking on the doors of a residential house, kicking against it. In the background to the left side, we see other armed men escorting away several men, women and smaller children while screaming at them in the process. One of the armed men pushes one of the captive men, who is shown wearing just his underpants, before ramming his rifle against him, making him fall down into the snow. We here somebody screaming "Out! Out! No tricks!" in Swedish as the camera flips over to show snow again. The next scene in the clip seems to have been taken before or after the first part of the clip. In these last 17 seconds of the video, we see several uniformed men beating an elderly citizen. The camera is shaking as the holder seems to approach the men. The clip then ends.

The Karlskrona Accord and the Republic of Bantyr have been in a state of war ever since the nationalization of Götarike economic assets in the latter and the failure of both sides to resolve their outstanding trade disputes. Adding to the dubious nature of the war is the fact that independent journalists have not been granted the right to report from an embedded position within frontline units. Götarike military units are therefore efficiently operating under unaccountable conditions, with only the official press releases of military authorities of either side of the conflict as a source of information about the war. A war that has already been sharply criticized for its openly economic motives is now coming under criticism for the way it is conducted as well, with several Citizens in Congress already having called upon the government to launch a full-scale investigation of what is happening in Bantyr. Meanwhile, several more clips have appeared on the internet, depicting scenes similar to the one described above, with civilians forced from their homes or houses being vandalized. Their authenticity could also not be verified by the Touzen Times. In a first reaction to what appears to be an unfolding humanitarian and political scandal, Member of Congress Tanaka Ken from Kawasaki has sharply criticized the war in Bantyr, saying: "The war itself and the way it is being waged is a scandal. The world, preoccupied with other hotspots of crisis across the globe, has turned a blind eye on the war in Scania. Aggressive regimes operating in a dubious manner are causing sever suffering amongst the civilian population in Bantyr. The international community must act and bring about an immediate end of human rights abuses conducted by the warring parties in Scania."

The government in Nokanawa has said that it will release an official statement shortly.

The Touzen government has asked the Götarike ambassador to Nokanawa to take position on the allegations of human rights abuses leveled at his government by means of grass-root journalism and published to a greater audience by the Touzen media. The Ministry of Revolutionary Defense and Foreign Affairs expressed its position that that it was crucial for the world to know whether the government of Götarike had any knowledge of the alleged crimes or whether rogue military elements were responsible for the alleged abuse of Bantyr civilians.

The
Ministry of Education has announced its plan to increase the amount of foreign students in the Constitutional State. Citizens' Universities are to receive additional funding to establish foreign language programs and expand upon existing Touzen language acquisition programs. Touzen embassies across the globe are preparing for a campaign of dedicated information and recruitment events at foreign universities to encourage students to schedule a stay in Touzen during their studies. Preparations are also underway for a labor exchange program intended to establish short-term exchange possibilities for young people currently undergoing an apprenticeship.

Economic growth in Siyang has declined to a megre 0.45% last year, figures released by the republic now show. Considered a rising economic powerhouse in Touyou due to its liberal market laws, highly trained workforce and proximity to major trade hubs, the small state bordering the Republic of Yujin has been harshly hit the economic problems caused by the Western Continental War. Government figures do not forsee growth figures returning to previous level until a trade-friendly international enviroment is reestablished.

Aresurai authorities have apprehended a suspected terrorist trying to cross into territory still under effective control of the republic. The would-be assailant was carrying weapons and explosive devices at the time of his capture last night and has been taken into custody for questioning.
Aresurai authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances of his arrest.

Touzen Celebrates Year Of The Revolution 63

All over the country, the people of Touzen have celebrated the arrival of 2012, or the 63rd year of the 1949 Revolution. Fireworks displays could be seen all over the country, and the traditional ringing of the bells at Buddhist temples for 108 times, meant to purify people of the last year's sins, could be heard at midnight.

Like each year, millions of people flocked to their local shrines at midnight for the customary
hatsumōde, or first shrine visit of the year, and many millions more are expected to take the trip in the morning hours of the first day of the new year. Like every year, the current Lord Protector paid his visit to Constitution Shrine in the center of Nokanawa near the empty Imperial Palace. Constitution Shrine is host to the original copy of the 1949 Constitution, which since the death of the last known member of the Imperial Family is seen to have taken over the role of intermittent between the heavens and earth that the Emperor used to fulfill. Lord Protector Okazaki Takuma made the trip to the shrine on foot, having opted not to arrive at the shrine by car escort. He joined with the crowd to wait for his turn to pray at the shrine, waiting in line for nearly one hour while shaking hands and engaging in conversation with his fellow citizens. After having prayed at the shrine shortly after 1AM, the Lord Protector said that he had prayed for the favor of the divinities and ancestors and their continued guidance and blessing. He also made the traditional request for the revelation of a new son of heaven "at the right time."

Afterwards, the Lord Protector gave his New Year's Speech in front of the still crowded shrine, an event anticipated all over the country and a cornerstone of Touzen New Year Celebration that is also broadcasted on TV.

"First and foremost, it is my deepest desire to see a 2012 in which the suffering of uncounted millions will end and peace will be restored to families suffering from war and persecution. All too often we take the tranquility of peace we enjoy for granted, but keep forgetting that many others cannot personal security and happyness for granted. New Year's Eve reminds us of our shared responsibility for one another and the world which we inhabit. Regardless of what creed you follow, what your politics are or your nationality, I reach out my hand tonight and tell you: you are not alone. Together, we must see this new year as an opportunity to unite as a common humanity and to settle the disputes dividing us for the sake of our children and their children.

[...]

To those suffering from persecution and war I call out to not give up hope and to be reassured by the support of the free world, for she marches with you. But I also tell you to not rely on hope alone. Change does not come from hope, but hope can be a powerful catalyst for action. Hope not for a better world tomorrow or thereafter, but work towards it today! I appeal to the tyrants and dictators: aspire to human greatness! It takes a strong man to dominate a people, but it takes an extraordinary man to renounce an erroneous past.

[...]

To my fellow citizens I extend greetings as we step forward into the 63rd year of the revolution. Our ongoing revolution is a project that unites us all. We know that freedom is the greatest good, and never since 1949 has it been more under threat than now. The liberation of the Touzen people from fascism by their own hands was a historic step ushering in a new age, the age of absolute democracy, of Post-Delegationism, of the beginning of anti-rule. Today, we are not ruled, but free men and women. We stand in international solidarity with those around the world that still have to free themselves from the yoke of tyranny, and our struggle continues both at home and abroad. Abroad, we are facing new challenges and have to assert old rights. In Aresura, the revolutionary state has rallied to the defense of democracy even in the face of grand opposition. In Touyou, we stand in solidarity against tyranny, ready for the defense of democracy with the allied citizenries of Siyang and Jurchen. We will have to continue asserting the right of freedom especially in Touyou, the nucleus of the revolution. We cannot tolerate neo-colonialist oppression and segregation, nor ideologies based on the false notion of racial superiority. We shall not allow the imperialist conflicts and systemic failures perpetuated in other corners of the world to spread to the Eastern Ocean and beyond. This will be, amongst many other things, our revolutionary mission for the year to come.

Time however also remains for our friends and families, whom we treasure and value deeply. It is with these wishes for a shared time with your loved ones that I leave you all with the best wishes for 2012. Happy New Year!"

Sir,
Götarike finds the latest video clip to be abhorrent to the beliefs of our people and the goals of the Götisk war effort. Her Majesty's Government intends to fully investigate the video and review policy in Bantyr. It is our full belief that these outrageous video clips shown on the internet shall be prosecuted to it's highest level. This sort of action by members of our nation is dishonorable, and will not be treated lightly.

We thank you for your highest interest in human rights and human dignity.

Democratic Realism: The Art Of 1950s Touzen

Matsunami Hiroshi (松浪 浩): Ascend of the New Man (1951)

In this article, Director of the Freedom Foundation Kasai Ariake explores the legacy of Democratic Realism in the Touzen art scene while critically analyzing the messages behind the movement.

When Matsunami painted his "Ascend of the New Man" in 1951, the Constitutional State was barely two years old, and the revolution of the free man had only been finished a year ago. The Constitutional State, the New Touzen, was a country destroyed through war, the excesses of fascist - delegationist - tyranny having ravaged a country in the pursuit of world domination. The greatest crime in the history of humanity, the Seoran Extermination, had profoundly changed the foundation of all moral concepts society thus far had been based upon. Touzen, and the world, were no longer the same place. The old world had died with the last bullet finding its target in this surreal bloodletting, a bloodletting we can only begin to attempt to comprehend now in this modern world we are in.

Thrown into the uncertainty of the Permanent Revolution, the Touzen art scene tried to adopt to the dynamic realities of Post-Delegationism. Drawing inspiration from western art sources and combining them with the background of a new radicality in its infancy, Democratic Realism deliberately rejected the depiction of the suffering and misery of the post-war period, true to the future-oriented nature of Post-Delegationism's philosophy. Ascend of the New Man in many ways exhibits the qualities that art was expected to have at that time: depicting idealized forms in vivid colors, abstracted and rationalized backgrounds, in short, the reality not of man's present trouble or a postulation of his inability to advance, but rather a staunch vote in the affirmative for the reality to come, a Nietzschean vision of the collective ascend of an entire people to the aloft state of the Übermensch, the superior man. Democratic Realism has been charged with endorsing crypto-delegationism and fascism, and perhaps the confusion of the post-war years introduced some of these elements in the early works of the movement. Far more, however, Democratic Realism tried to produce a counter-reality to the existing. In that regard, Democratic Realism was live-affirming, had a positive outlook of a future to come, based on the solution of all of man's problems in a rational and scientific way. As we see in "Ascend of the New Man" however, Democratic Realism did not shun away from toying with the irrational, the perfect, the unattainable - the very qualities of the Permanent Revolution and its foundation: only through the constant re-invention of man can he advance, can he become great, can he become a superior being, cast off his status as a slave and servant.

The rugged individualism at the center of Democratic Realism is also vividly displayed. In a society that until previously had been imprinted with the dogmas of collectivism, of racial arrogance and false pride into the totality of the state, Democratic Realism issued a radical response that made it the target of scorn and rejection at the hands of those that still clinched to the old ways. Democratic Realist works such as Aoshima Ichiro's "The Factory" (1952) or Kamikawa Kido's "The Farmers" (1955) show several figures working the machines or toiling the soil, yes, but they also show individuals. The figures have character, differences, and a sense of pride surrounds them, pride in their own work, their own advance. The notion of "Collective Individuality" was the attempt at postulating the thesis of an anti-society, in fact, society as itself was criticized as having become obsolete in the new world of individuals. Critically analyzed, the attempt to deconstruct society into individuals, relieving them of the guilt they had accumulated through participation in the crimes of Touzen fascism, was a rejection of the very individual responsibility that Touzen citizens had to cope with. The "New Man" phase of 58-62 distanced itself from the notion of Collective Individuality, instead focusing on the citizen in the new Constitutional State and the realities of a Post-Delegationist society.

Ascend of the New Man still touches us today in a serene manner. It reminds us of past hopes for a future to be. Democratic Realist sculptures and pieces of art from the period of the Founding Fathers can still be seen throughout the nation and they give us a crucial daily insight into the genesis of the mindset of a young democratic nation in a turbulent world, a turbulent world not unlike our own. Wherever the road will take us, art will have a response no doubt.

The Constitutional State welcomes the statement by Her Excellency Minister Öqvist and her staunch commitment to addressing the human rights concerns raised by the international media. We are confident that the issues in question will be addressed adequately through a process of critical inquiry by the authorities of the Götarike state and its people.

Liberty Update
The Headlines of the Day. Precise, Informative, Independent.
The Ministry of Revolutionary Defense and Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Eastern Ocean Convention has been agreed upon with the Covenant of Cantigny to "reaffirm mutual beliefs in freedom of commerce and travel in the Eastern Ocean". The step is seen as a first move towards rapprochement between the estranged countries that had clashed in recent years over issues such as Anglyn Imperialism in Oceania.

The
global economy continues its descend into crisis as ongoing conflicts and the fear of a new conflict in the Long Sea perpetuate existing lack of investor confidence. The recent downgrade of Götarike's credit rating by Breotonia-based rating agency Shaw-Sterling was represented on the TOUKEI by a -2,4% hit this morning. Mounting international concerns about the Scanian state's government's lack of ability or willingness to address outstanding fiscal concerns have fueled a downward trend already in progress. Perilously, Carentanian bonds have also been downgraded, adding to speculations that also the until now relatively stable socialist economies might be caught in the turmoils of the global economic crisis, enhancing it in scope in the process.

A vocal group of All Citizens' Congress members have called for the government to press harder on the human rights issues Götarike has been confronted with after a controversial video published by the Touzen Times went viral on MyTube. The members of congress said that the Okazaki administrated "ought not to relent and trust the good will of the Götarike government, but pursue own, independent inquiries into the issue".

Aresura has issued new passports with electronic chips. All citizens are required to receive their new passports by next Wednesday at their local town hall. The Aresurai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the new passports would help defending against terroristic elements trying to infiltrate the country as the passports are more difficult to illegally reproduce than the previous, non-digital ones. Citizens will until further notice require to carry these passports with them for identification purposes at all time

It is quite interesting that the Touzen government fails to mention Cantigny's own brand of Imperialism as well as its long record of racism as two possible causes of the estrangement....or does that not matter any longer to the Constitutional State?

Unlike in delegationist societies such as the one the Euskadi Socialist Party seeks to build, the Constitutional State does not seek to exercise control over the media, this includes the Liberty Update. The opinions expressed in our media are the opinions of free men and women, free from the chain of state opinion monopolies. Nevertheless I can assure you of course that the Constitutional State continues to reject the policies of racial discrimination and continues to affirm its determination to separate inter-state issues from the free pursuit of enterprise and travel by its citizens. As a Post-Delegationist I will never put the interests of the citizen behind those of the government. The Post-Delegationist understanding of government leaves no room for the policies of denial, but operates under the maxim of providing the maximum amount of liberty to all Touzen citizens.

The Constitutional State of Touzen continues to lecture other nations about freedom yet continues to maintain friendly relations with the racist regime in Cantigny, whose segregationist ideology denies many inhabitants of Cantigny their full and deserved rights.
