Thank you for tuning in and welcome to Carentania Public Broadcasting.
These are the news:

The crisis between the Jurzan and Carentania is finally over, with Carentania announcing to have reached a "conclusive agreement" with Jurzan. Investigations revealed no fundamental ties between the Jurzani state and Mezhist terrorists, albeit "corruption on a local level can not be ruled out", the Workers' Republic was quick to emphasize that this is an analysis that could hold true for "any European government". Carentanian forces in the south have returned to a normal level of readiness, as the Jurzan has managed to assure Carentania it does not seek to support any kind of reactionary aggression against the Workers' Republic. "We have reached an agreement with the Jurzan that includes mutual assurances of non-aggression and the Jurzani promise, not to allow further deployments by third powers on its territories," Commissar Sitar commented. Currently, Danmark maintains a small fleetbase at the Jurzani coast.

Security analysts predict "violent winter months" in Solaren, as the conclusion of the work of the interim government approaches and elections have been promised to be held before the end of the year. "We expect numerous militant groups affiliated with various political leanings to leash out in violence," the analysts working for the Revolutionary Army said. Additionally, the cold season is expected to bring increased social tension and unrest, especially within the cities. "As much as the European community has done to ease the plight of the Solaren people, the destruction of the war, the unsolved social question and the long shadow of Pope Urban are a dangerous combination." The Commissariate for Defense refused to comment at this point whether this means an increased deployment of forces to the Carentanian occupation zone, but noted that Carentania will maintain an adequate presence to respond to any security threats, however ultimately seeks to establish Solaren independence in all matters of politics.

The Union of Communist Workers, Carentanias largest labor union and most influental political group, has adopted a resolution calling corporal punishment in schools a "barbaric, reactionary and bourgeoise practice", whose ban is "long overdue". During a press conference following the general summit in preparation of the All-Workers Congress in December, a spokesperson commented that "our schools should seek to raise our kids as independent, free and happy members who can strive and achieve the vision of Communism. A free association of free individuals, as Marx has envisioned it, is logically impossible with children who have learned to fear their teachers." Past initiatives in the All-Workers Congress had failed repeatedly in the 1920s. However, with the proposal being launched by the UCW, many experts predict it to gather the necessary amount of votes this time.

We commend the government of Carentania and the Jurzan for resolving their conflict. The tensions of the past month were in nobody's interest. We are glad that they are over.

This is Carentania Public Broadcasting with breaking news:

A train on its route to Cazma central station has derailed, causing what can already be called the worst accident in Carentanian history. The train, which was running at full speed on the edge of the city, was filled completely with travellers from Rijeka who were preparing to depart on their final destination in Cazma, when it left the tracks for unknown reasons and hit a concrete bridge. During the collision, bridge and most of the train were completely destroyed and several cars using the bridge to overpass the railtrack were drawn into the desastrous accident. Eyewitnesses report that a large fireball immediately followed the crash and set most of the surroundings ablaze. As we are speaking, hundreds of firefighters are still working to contain the fire and additional reinforcements from surrounding communities have been called into action. Militias have secured the area in a radius of several kilometers and evacuated nearby houses for security reasons.

There is no final number of victims yet, but the deathtoll already stands at over 300, with many more injured. "We have everyone at our disposal working to help those involved in the accident," a spokesperson of the City Assembly said, stating that hospital staff and fireguards throughout the city are working overhours, supported by countless volunteers. "As the situation changes by the minute, we will not be able to make any final comments at this point and we ask those who knew that they had friends or relatives on the train not to make our work harder. Albeit I understand your concerns, flooding our workers with questions about the fate of individuals is only serving to delay their important work and will not reward any answers, as we simply don't have them at this point. We will inform you in the upcoming days and hope that you can endure your understandable worries and uncertainties."

The havoc caused by the crash will take days to clean up and all trains headed to or coming from Cazma will face delays, as not only the track directly involved in the accident will be blocked during this period, but also the neighbouring ones. Travellers on the Highway No.2 will also face traffic jams and the exit Cazma South is completely blocked for the duration of the reconstruction effort. As the emergency personnel is still involved in the rescuing operations and the fires not yet extinguished, it isn't predictable how large the damage done really is and the duration of the reconstruction could range from months to even years.

To the attention of: The foreign office of Carentania

To whom this does concern:-

The High Kingdom of Ivernia is shocked at distraught at the terrible accident that has happened today and wishes to express it's condolences towards Carentania on the loss of so many of it's citizens. Today shall be marked as a black day in the annals of history over such an awful tragedy as this one.
Ivernia's thoughts and prayers are with the lost souls of the Camza route accident and also the families of the fallen and Carentania as a whole.
The High King of Ivernia recognises the difficulties in rebuilding the damage done, and offers Ivernian State Aid and assistance in the rebuilding process if it is needed. Independant charities within Ivernia, such as Trócaire and NGO have sent admissions to the Carentanian Embassy in Bán Dair Cathrach whether the emergency response in Carentania would wish for both manual and monetary assistance.

May God be with you in this most dark of days.

We do not have much to add to the words from representatives from other countries in the light of this sad event. We send our condolences to families and friends of the deceased people and wish the wounded survivors a speedy recovery. The most severely injured people will be welcome in Eiffelland for treatment, afdter they have been stabilised.

These are the news:

Investigations into the traincrash of early december have finished and found the desaster to be result of an unfortunate combination of a technical failure and damage to the railtracks. However, the investigation also raises severe criticism of the emergency services of the Workers' Republic. "The majority of the deceased were still alive when ambulances arrived from the hospitals on the scene," the report of the investigation commission reads. "Many of them had died on the way to the hospitals." The investigation compared the events of Cazma with the experiences of injured soldiers during the liberation of Solaren and found that soldiers, receiving their first treatment on the battlefield by trained army or guard medics, managed to survive far worse injuries than many of the deceased of the traincrash. In response to the investigations report, the Commissariate for Public Health has announced a deep reform of the national emergency service, seeking to centralize the ambulance services by seperating them from the hospitals and furthermore to introduce a training program in emergency medicine for ambulance drivers.

The crisis on the eastern Himyari peninsula of Zamosk worsens as Talemantine forces fight to prevent reunification of the illegally occupied territory with Parthava. Analysts warn that this conflict threatens to draw all of northern Himyar into a deep crisis as the Talemantine governments expansionist policies of the past and present have brought it into conflict with all of its neighbours. "There is only one way the crisis can be contained," the Commissate for Foreign Affairs outlined Carentanias stance on the issue. "Talemantine soldiers must withdraw and return Zamosk to the Parthavans. Carentania will not tolerate Talemantine imperialism to escalate this war even further and if the Talemantines should mobilize their forces even further, we may be forced to coordinate with other regional powers to bring about a regime change in the Empire." In response to the lingering threat of war in Himyar, several units of the Carentanian military along the eastern coastline have been placed on alert.

As protests grip large numbers of cities in Yujin, Carentanias Commissariate for Foreign Affairs issues a travel warning for all of Yujin. It is advised to avoid the nation for the time being, unless you are a capable revolutionary fighter with the resolve to aid the oppressed and poverty-stricken people of Yujin. The Commissar for Foreign Affairs expressed his hopes that the crisis in Yujin is resolved soon and a more benevolent government legitimated by the Workers' of Yujin can assume responsibility.

These are the news:

Mobilizations in eastern Carentania continue, as the war in Zamosk escalates. "We need to be prepared should the war expand to involve greater parts of Himyar," the Commissariate for Defence commented. According to its press release, units of the Revolutionary Navy Aviation are monitoring the waters north of the Talemantine Empire and are aware of any troop movement in the area. "We once again warn the Talemantines that any expansion of the warfare against the Parthavans means aggression against the Workers' Republic. To maintain peace in Himyar, the Talemantines must withdraw from Zamosk and end their illegal occupation," Commissar Sitar from the Commissariate for Foreign Affairs said.

A protest march in Sisak brought about one-thousand Farmers from the Vrbas Kraj to the regional capital. The protestors demanded an end of the increased military province in the province since its return to the Workers' Republic and also criticised the agricultural policies since the re-integration of the Kraj. Farmers in the Vrbas Kraj had been expropriated in favour of large-scale industrialized farms after the re-integration, the protestors demand a reversal of this decision in favour of service cooperatives, but individual land ownership. "Transition phases like these are always tough," the provincial government commented. "Cooperative agriculture, however, has great advantages we can't ignore simply due to romantic attachment to the soil. We have a national responsibility as part of the economy." However, the Commissariate for Defense promised a decreasing troop presence in the near future, as the Mezhist threat in the Vrbas Kraj is on the decline.

Cinemas throughout the Republic announce a new visitor record, as "Lost in a Sea of Fire" draws millions of viewers. The Carentanian western is currently competing in the International Film Festival in Vesper, Cantignia, and tells a compelling story of oppression, revenge and social revolution in the Franken-occupied near Himyar of the 19th century. Critics had praised the work of director Anej Hribar before, but few expect such an overwhelming success with the audience. "We still can't believe it," the director was quoted recently and it is rumoured the entire production crew of the movie will gather in Rijeka this weekend to celebrate.

These are the news:

Disturbing reports from Yujin have reached us as the soldiers of the imperial forces have massacred thousands of peaceful protestors in the city of Liangang. Protestors had called for the abolishment of the Empire and social change for weeks now and violent crackdowns had been common. The recent attacks, however, still mark a new degree of violence by the government. A great number of Yujinese citizens, fleeing from the massacres, have taken shelter in the Carentanian consulate. The Commissariate for Foreign Affairs has affirmed Carentanias right to offer shelter and asylum to foreign nationals and expressed its will to protect the refugees from violent persecution.

The reform of Emergency Services in Carentania is making good progress, the Commissariate for Public Health reports. Reform plans were put forward after investigation into a devastating train crash in Cazma, which costed hundreds of lives, indicated severe failures on behalf of the Emergency services. The reforms foresee centralized emergency calls, specialized emergency providers and the standardization of professional training for ambulance drivers. "We foresee the creating of a paramedical profession, which allows for on the scene first aid provided by ambulance drivers or a second person," the Commissariate has commented. Meanwhile the Workers' Watch has indicated its willigness to organize specialized ambulance services in several Carentanian cities.

Navy and Army aviation units have begun a training manouver in the eastern Long Sea. The operation was scheduled on short notice and the Commissariate for Defence admitted that the manouver has been organized to elevate combat readiness of these units in face of growing tensions in Himyar. Military experts have speculated that Carentania is preparing for an invasion of Talemantine territory, should the Talemantines continue to defend their illegal occupation of Parthavan territory, but the Commissariate for Foreign Affairs has dismissed these speculations as unbased. "We stand by our allies in Parthava, but we do not harbor aggressive sentiment against the Talemantine population."

The situation concerning Zamosk is complicated. We urge the Carentanians to consider all options, also the peaceful ones. We repeat our offer to host a conference on this matter and ask Carentania to help us in getting the governments of the countries involved to the negotiation table.

The Grand Duchy would like to remind all nations involved that she is remaining neutral in this conflict, and that any attacks against the Potenzan Merchant Fleet bringing supplies either to the Parthavans or Talemantine will be considered attacks against Potenzan sovereignty.

These are the news:

According to our consul in the Yujinese city of Liangang, troops of the Imperial government have assaulted the Parthavan consulate and massacred both the diplomatic staff and all refugees who had taken shelter within the premises. The Workers' Republic of Carentania has officially condemned this act of aggression against a socialist brother state and reaffirmed its commitment to offer asylum to all those who have sought protection within the Carentanian consulate. "We must consider the eventuality of a similiar massacre against our own diplomatic staff," Commissar Sitar has warned the public. "Such an attack will be considered a declaration of war." Carentanian militia forces have meanwhile surrounded the embassy of Yujin in Rijeka.

A bomb in Solaren has killed a Potenzan soldier. The Workers' Republic has sent the family of the victim its condolences and stressed that all occupational powers must stand together, despite political differences, to prevent a resurgence of clerical dictatorship in Solaren. "The violence we experience right now can only be fought if we unite all progressive political factions within Solaren and lend them the support of the liberating powers," Commissar Sitar said during a press conference. Carentanian troops in Solaren have likewise experienced an increased intensity of attacks by religious insurgents.

The International Film Festival in Vesper, Cantignia sees Carentania as only country to have two movies earn prices. Both "Red Moon", a dark science-fiction piece featuring starlet Maja Kosi on her last appearence before she went missing during a trip in the Haemians, as well as the war-movie "Riders of Liberty" about the efforts of the second cavalry brigade during the Solaren war have earned a price. However, the wildly popular western "Lost in a Sea of Fire" has failed to succeed in the popular choice category against the Havenite horror-flic "White Fang Rock".

These are the news:

A succesful attack on an insurgent camp in the mountains of Solaren killed fourty-two insurgents and led to the arrest of an additional twelve reactionaries. The Commissariate for Defence has extended an official recognition for the efforts of the third infantry brigade, which located and eradicated the encampement. "Today marks a turning point in Solaren and the begin of succesful counter-operations against reactionary violence. Let it be known that the days of Pope Urban and his regime of terror are over once and for all and will never return. Attempts to force a return of these days of oppression with gunfire and bombs will only incite our fiercest response," Commissar for Defence Matija Dracar commented in a public speech earlier today. Throughout the attack, the involved Carentanian units suffered no losses and only a few injuries.

The Academic Office of the Commissariate for Education, alongside spokespersons from Goldstein Motors and Aviation as well as the Board of Civilian Research, Science and Industry had called for a joint press conference today. Representing influental figures and organizations within the Carentanian scientific establishment, the joint spokesperson announced their intention to ask the next All-Workers Congress to begin a space research programme. "We will present the Congress dedicated evaluations about the feasibility of such an undertaking in their next session in may," it was announced during the press conference. "And we hope that Congress will share our optimistic goal of sending man-made objects into space by the end of the decade and a human before the end of next decade."

While reports from the war in central Sarmatia are hard to come by, eye-witnesses have now reached Carentania who testify that the Mezhist forces have made excessive use of chemical weapons during their campaign against Miroslavl. It is likely that millions of civilians have already been killed across the entire length of the frontline by aggressive chemicals and that the fanatical Mezhist goal of exterminating most of the human race is now pursued openly with these destructive weapons. Experts on Mezhist ideology working at the famed Sorokin Insitute in Rijeka have commented: "This murderous ideology follows no rational logic anymore. The land deemed inhospitable by extensive bombardement with chemical weapons can never be reclaimed, but the ultimate goal of the Mezhists is not territorial expansion or economic wealth, nor national welfare: it is the destruction of those deemed worthless by matters of race, ideology and faith."

We must give some degree of recognition and support of the efforts of the Carentanian forces in sequestering the die-hard Urbanite reactionaries in the Carentanian zone. This can only be something deserving of congratulation and support, alongside the other occupying forces of Potenza and Eiffelland. All three deserve credit in different manners for their actions in the bloodied lands of Solaren which we can vocalise and offer open exclamation and logistical buttress towards. Even so, it requires sensitivity from all and not bullheadedness from any side in their future operations and we can only hope and desire that all three nations can at least ensure certain common agreements and overlap in many regards.

Regards the issue of Mezhist operations, we can only demur in support of the opinion expressed over the use of chemical weaponry used in systematic fashion against Miroslavs. It is our sincere opinion that the Mezhist Union maintains immense courtesy, despite war, in its approach that has not at once been deflected towards the a policy of deliberate extermination of the Miroslavan population either en masse or in limitation towards selected minorities of the nation and usage of the term 'millions' is most definately wrong, a scandalous attribution and one deserving of deep thought. To suggest contrary strikes directly into our understanding.

The Department of Foreign Affairs of Ivernia is shocked to hear the allegations put forward towards the Mezhist Union, relating to chemical weaponry, and the deaths of the alleged ''millions of civilians.'' As Ivernia and the Mezhist Union are close trade partners Ivernia would never condone such an action by a partner and would cease trade, at the very least all military trade.
The Department of Foreign Affairs of this High Kingdom is extremely interested in viewing transcripts of these eyewitness accounts or perhaps stronger evidence (such as photographic) that these atrocities are being committed.
Failure to provide adequate evidence however will lower this departments opinion of all future 'Public Broadcasts of Carentania' and dim our view of the governing body of Carentania, for pushing ''information'' upon the Carentanian people without proper proof.

The Ivernish Department of Foreign Affairs finds the accusation that the Mezhist Union wishes to destroy almost all peoples of the world to be a scandalous and extreme one. Not to mention a thoroughly incorrect one.

As stated in the broadcast in question, our reports of massmurder through extensive use of chemical weapons by the Mezhist Unions are based on eye-witness reports. Transcripts of the reports are available, but contacting the eye-witnesses in person can only be made possible if the individuals in question agree, which they are unlikely to do for supporters of the criminal Mezhist regime.

These are the news:

As the consulate in the Yujin city of Liangnang was evacuated, the Emperor of Yujin withdrew his promise of safe return and declared war upon the Workers' Republic of Carentania and the People's Republic of Havenshire. "The situation is very messy right now," the Commissar for Foreign Affairs explained during an emergency press conference. A large number of ethnic Yu people who were Carentanian citizens were apparently massacred, but an emergency intervention by joint socialist forces under the leadership of Havenshire managed to rescue the majority of refugees as well as the diplomatic staff. "Meanwhile, we have reports that the city of Liangnang is in open revolts and several military units who had been dispatched to engage Carentanian ships sent to retrieve citizens from the besieged Consulate have deserted."

In honor of those who have died to defend the Yujin refugees in the Parthavan, Havenite and Carentanian consulates, as well as to reward the Havenite Marines who rescued over a thousand men, women and children today, the Commissars Assembly has decided to issue a new medal titled "Rose of Liangnang". Additional, those who died will be awarded the "Order of Socialism", one of the highest honors the Workers' Republic can bestow upon civilians -and which is awarded exclusively post-mortem. The majority of these orders will consequently go to Parthavan citizens who died in defense of the Parthavan consulate in Liangnang, where Imperial troops massacred hundreds just days ago. The awards will be received by close family members of the deceased in a great ceremony to be held in Rijeka.

In regards to the Yujiner declaration of war, the Commissar for Foreign Affairs has commented that Carentania will "not consider ourselves at war with the people of Yujin." Commissar Sitar has called the declaration of war a "temper tantrum by a neurotic royal, removed from the actual affairs and everyday concerns of his people." Regardless, the Commissar announced to consider its options in the next day under the premise of aiding revolution in Yujin to end the violent, oppressive and hostile rule of the Emperor and to cooperate with regional partners like Vangala in securing its existence in the face of threats of warfare by the Empire.

These are the news:

Engineers of the Commissariate for Economic Planning have joined their colleagues from Carentanian Telekom WO. in the planning stage of a new undersea telephone cable across the Long Sea. The cable which is to connect northern Carentania and southern Solaren, likely through the city of Mazara, is destined to move the two countries closer together. Furthermore, it will serve as backbone of telephone communications between central Europe and Himyar in the near future. "We seek to at least double the total capacities currently available for phone calls across the Long Sea, including not only Carentanian infrastructure but those of other countries as well. This will put us on the forefront of technological developement," a spokesperson of the Commissariate said. If the cable network is expanded beyond Solaren and into its neighbouring countries, the Carentanian sea cable may provide numerous new jobs for the Solaren post-war economy.

Revolutionary Navy units are reported to have started patrolling the Long Sea and several Navy Aviation units along the northern coast have been placed on increased alert. Asked to comment on this issue, the Commissariate for Defence announced its intention to intercept ships flying the flag of Yujin in the Long Sea, given the nations recent declaration of war on the Workers' Republic and their attempts to murder diplomatic staff and Carentanian citizens in Liangnang. "The Workers' Republic will utilize the tools at its disposal to force the Emperor of Yujin to back down and take responsibilities for his crimes against Carentanian civilians," Commissar Matija Dracar said.

Ema Zupan, recently awarded "best director" at the International Film Festival in Vesper, Cantignia, has announced his intention to make a movie about the Consulate crisis in Liangnang. With his latest two movies - "Wolves of Haemia" and "Riders of Liberty" - being warmly received by critics, several Carentanian studios have already expressed their interest in supporting Zupan in his endeavour. If production proceeds smoothly, the new movie by Ema Zupan may reach cinemas at the end of the year. Zupan is famed for his portrayal of war and most of his movies revolve around the topic.
