The Serbovian government feels obliged to note the irresponsible nature of the IRB in organizing exercises in an area that already has become destabilized as a result of provocative and widely condemned actions on behalf of the Vangalan government.

The Batavian government also feels obliged to note the dangerous and provocative rhetoric coming from neighbours of our IRB ally, Vangala, which call for nothing short of planned, organised and reasonable exercises of a military capacity.

Kommissaris Arjan van Vliet wishes to personally assure the Oikawan government that troop numbers and approximate locations during the planned exercises will be reported ahead of time to Nokanawa. This will be done in order to prevent unnecessary mistakes made by both sides in regards to guessed calculations. These games are an exercise and are not intended to provoke actions from our LFS counterparts. If formally requested, LFS military attachés will be allowed to observe certain parts of the exercises.

The communist propagandists of the IRB will not fool the free world. These military exercises are a direct provocation towards the LFS, especially the Oikawan Empire and the Kingdom of Ratomkira. These acts only show that the IRB wishes to further destabilize a region already in turmoil.

We demand that the nations involved in this exercise intermediately cancel their plans, thus showing a true sign of goodwill.

There will be no cancellation in plans which were made months before the rise of tensions between Ratomkira and Vangala. The offer for an LFS military attaché to observe the exercises still stands.

Despite Fascist Rhetoric, IRB Congress Shows No Signs of Cancelling Military Exercises

Roerganger (Supreme Leader) Jaap de Graaf addressing the IRB Winter Congress

Although rhetoric and criticisms from LFS states has caused some to question whether or not IRB military exercises will continue in Vangala, it appears that the alliance is set on keeping them on schedule for this December. Noting the uncivilised and unprofessional remarks by some countries, IRB analysts also pointed out much more prudent remarks from states such as Oikawa. 'The Oikawan Foreign Ministry was very professional with their language.' cited one IRB analysts coming out of an afternoon meeting. 'They stated that they will be closely observing the exercises but did not release blind and foolish threats like Ratomkira did.'

The Batavian Foreign Commissary has sent out an offer for an LFS military attaché to observe parts of the planned exercises. The wargame exercises will take place in a variety of IRB countries. Although the exact dates and locations are not yet known, sources say that the international community will be 'notified ahead of time' to prevent misunderstandings. Troop and equipment numbers will also be announced.

Meeting of Francophone States Begins in Belmont

Leaders and royalty from many different areas of Europe, but mostly the Frankish lands, have met in Belmont. The meeting of Francophones is based on reviving and repairing ties between French-speaking states in Europe. Most of the French-speaking states border each other and some political analysts have wondered why they have not formed a more solid alliance or economic community already. While many point to the EDF taking up that role, others say that this meeting could bring a bout a gradual change and shift towards a Francophone-based community of some sorts, whether it start with economics or not.

As for Belmonti-Batavian relations, the CoBuZa was recently informed that the Batavian People's Military will be permitted to purchase military equipment. A small military delegation has been despatched to Paris to observe military equipment demonstrations and place an order for this winter. Small arms, light armour and possibly aircraft are on the winter shopping list. Officials say that the purchases will be paid for with future expected oil and natural gas revenues once production is increased later this year. Until then, purchases will be made half with cash and half with instalment payments secured via long-term loans from undisclosed sources.

Comrade,

As the IRB is in the process of organizing military exercises, the Volga Republic, though not a member of the IRB at this time, asks permission to send a military attaché to observe the maneuvers.

Students Protest in Spa Against Capitalistic Enslavement

Riot police dealt with overly excited protesters in Spa

Spa, Northern Batavië
Over one thousand riot police were ordered into the streets of Spa yesterday when students protesting the enslavement system of capitalism turned violent. Spa, lying in the far northern reaches of the country, is a large university town and has been known in the past for its unruly and active student population. Students were shouting anti-capitalist slogans and clogging the streets. They did not seem to have a specific target country in mind but simply threw out slander against the plight of the proletariat stuck in a mostly capitalist world.

Many of the students, at least two hundred say the police, resorted to violent measures to show their anger and frustration with the faults of capitalism. Some students, armed with molatov cocktails and bricks, set parked cars on fire and blocked some roads with hijacked lorries and cars. Even one city bus was hijacked and parked horizontally on one of the main streets, supposedly symbolising the dead-end mentality of capitalism in the eyes of a commoner.

Over seventy arrests were made and many students were hauled away in lorries packed with people. They were being brought to detention centres where they will be processed and likely released within a matter of mere days. While no one in the country denounces their enthusiasm, most will agree that civility is necessary during protests and order must be maintained. As protests are likely to be continuing throughout the week, the riot police force is set to double and Ground Force soldiers have been put on standby. No order has yet been given to the Ground Force to move in on the city.

November Explosion in Vlaanderen Grocery Store Was Act of Terror: SV

Vlaanderen, Batavië
Contrary to initial reports, Metropolitan Police and the Staatsveiligheid have announced that the explosion which killed five people in a grocery store in Vlaanderen last month was an act of terror, not a gas leak. After a full investigation and parliamentary panel, SV and Met Police spokesmen said that the Batavian Republican Army, the illegal and violent rebel group, planted a bomb intending to kill innocent civilians, which they unfortunately succeeded in doing.

'Now that we all know the truth we can see that the BRA is not, in fact, a movement for the people, but against the people.' stated an SV spokesman. BRA instigated protests and riots have put the northern city of Spa into chaos and the riots have spread to Hilversum and Vlaanderen. Police and military presences are high and the authorities are warning people not to participate in these illicite events. Arrests are being made daily and throughout the nights. Three men were arrested in Hilversum yesterday after assaulting police officers with molotov cocktails, injuring one officer. Ground Force troops managed to put out the flames while the police detained the perpetrators with necessary, life-saving force.

We condemn this despicable bombing attack against innocent civilians by the terrorists in the Batavian Republican Army and demand an immediate end to their illegal and immoral campaign of violence. Vangala also wishes to make clear its support for a swift and firm end to the rioting in Spa and beyond.

The announcement that the November bombing was perpetrated by the BRA is most worrying. The situation in Batavie is of the most sensitive nature and we shall continue monitoring events closely.

While the loss of innocent lives is always a tragedy, many questions arise with the new allegations made by the Batavian regime. It would not seem unrealistic that the authoritarian communist government would pin this attack on the BRA in order to take the focus away from the crimes of the Batavian dictators. If this was indeed an attack of the BRA, why have they not claimed it and why has it only now been confirmed?

We believe that the release of evidence against the BRA will clarify many questions. In the meanwhile our sympathy continues with the no doubt still mourning family and friends of the victims.

Investigation of December Assassination of Police Official Involves BRA

Hello and welcome to BPO News. The top story today: Staatsveiligheid and Metropolitan Police joint investigations have concluded that the assassination of a Deputy Police Chief in Vlaanderen last month was the work of the rebel group known as the Batavian Republican Army, or BRA. Bullet shells found at the scene of the crime were examined and analysed in police laboratories. After extensive tests it was determined that the bullets came from a gun of foreign origin, not manufactured or used within the People's Republic. The same gun, a rifle common in AGE armies, has been the staple weapon of BRA insurgents in Spa and elsewhere.

Rioting instigated by the BRA in Spa and cities in the south has calmed during the last few days, but these latest developments have given reason for the military to begin counter-offensive manoeuvres, said a spokesman at Military High Command. The operations to take back Spa and other insurgent-held areas are time sensitive and involve risking the lives of soldiers, therefore no timetable has been published to the media. Military officials did say, however, that citizens should remain indoors and off the roads this week if possible. Residents of Spa have been warned to seek shelter in basements and other underground areas in order to avoid collateral damage from Air Force precision strikes against rebel strongholds in the city. So far the operation has not started.

Meribian Nuclear Test Invokes Outrage at CoN

Days after Meribian authorities detonated a nuclear weapon in an underground facility, governments across the world have expressed their condemnations and outrage, especially at the CoN where a Carentanian-led debate is discussing possible further international action. The Batavian delegation to the CoN today suggested that the CoN commission a permanent nuclear observational agency which would despatch observers to all nuclear powers that are CoN member states. The suggestion is likely to receive opposition from many countries.

Batavian delegates proclaimed that this could happen anywhere at any time and that all nuclear powers should be subject to observation, not select countries. 'This will prevent unfair treatment of countries with differing political ideologies. All nuclear countries should be observed. This will only lead to a safer and more informed European community.' said a spokesman for the Batavian delegation at CoN headquarters in Augsburg, Wiese.

Batavian Proposal to Meribian Nuclear Fiasco 'Largely Ignored' in Augsburg

Vlaanderen, Batavië
Working around the clock at his offices in Augsburg, Wiese, Ambassador Hans Rembrandt of Batavië has been trying to convince his foreign counterparts that there are alternatives to sanctions and embargoes against Meribia for its New Years nuclear test. Mr Rembrandt and his delegation have been in the General Assembly every day since the news broke last week that Meribia, an IRB ally of Batavië, had tested a nuclear warhead in a remote underground facility. Nearly every CoN member has condemned this test and even the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs in Vlaanderen expressed its surprise and concern.

Ambassador Rembrandt proposed a few days ago that the CoN establish a permanent nuclear observation agency which would send international observers to countries using nuclear technology for power and weapons purposes. Quoted from the General Assembly today, he said that 'if we as a civilised world want to prevent unsafe measures such as this happening again we need a system in place to monitor the use of nuclear technology. It can be very dangerous but also very important, especially when developed for peaceful purposes. Every CoN member should have no problem allowing international inspectors to regularly monitor nuclear usage if they have nothing dubious to hide. It will allow everyone to keep an eye on each other and prevent dangerous situations such as arms races, escalations in tension and provocations.'

A spokesman for the Batavian delegation in Augsburg stated this morning that Ambassador Rembrandt's proposal would remain on the discussion table indefinitely. He is also open for suggestions and amendments.

Jaap de Graaf, Supreme Leader of the People's Republic is Dead

You must be registered for see images

General Karel de Graaf addressing the Centraal Comité, announcing his father's untimely death

Vlaanderen, Batavië
Official reports from the headquarters of the Bataafsche Arbeiders Partij (BAP) have confirmed that on 29 December, 2009, our Supreme and Eternal Leader, Jaap de Graaf, died after suffering a sudden illness from spinal cancer. The best doctors were not able to save him. Our Supreme Leader died in peace without any pain. His son, General Karel de Graaf, addressed the Centraal Comité in Vlaanderen and formally announced the Supreme Leader's death. Jaap de Graaf died 12 days ago. General Karel de Graaf says that the information was withheld to prevent public unrest caused by the great concern. A state funeral service will be held tomorrow in Vlaanderen. The Supreme Leader will be buried in the Government District in the Tomb of the Eternal Leader.

Meanwhile, General de Graaf said that new threats face the People's Republic. The Batavian Republican Army has schemed to collaborate with neighbours and other far-away enemies. Military intelligence announced that Scania and other AGE countries are gearing up to invade Batavië, fabricating Staatsveiligheid assassinations.

'We will triumph. We are prepared. If they want to bring war and death upon our people, then they will face the might and vigour of our 3 million plus troops. These brave soldiers are all prepared to die for Supreme Leader de Graaf and the People's Republic. Every citizen is expected of the same. Treat the enemy with no respect or mercy, for they will provide you with none in return.'

Emergency preparations have begun in expectation of a border crossing. All sectors of the military are under full defence mobilisations. General de Graaf also stated that should Scania wish to negotiate instead of fight, he would be personally open to such meetings. In the meantime, the Centraal Comité has indefinitely postponed ceremonies to mark General de Graaf as General Secretary of the BAP. With war imminent, the post can wait to be filled by the Supreme Leader's son and successor.
