It is with considerable lament that we see our ally retreat into apparent isolation even though, contrary to conventional wisdom and expectation, Kingdom and Republic have woven a friendship of immense fortitude and gravitas through choppy waters and the storms of tumult across the Himyar and further into the immense continental dilemmas that permeate our mutual being across this, a god forsaken planet. The Realm, irrespective of obvious divergences in essentiality with the vouchsafer of Noble Republican values propagated across the continent near and far, deems the Frescanians as an essential ally and joint-plougher of justice in a rough and unjust world, despite the current world order of which both Frescania and Danmark exist as defenders, in all its failure and short-comings.

From the breadth of the troubled Himyar, the innards of imperious Germania, the watery depths of the shared oceans and seas, through to the High East in respect of Boliatur, I am proud to say that we have both stood shoulder-to-shoulder and, with the greatest respect to the politicians of Frescania engaged in expected electioneering, I defy them to argue otherwise. Those in the know and with the greatest knowledge of world affairs and steeped in Frescania's essential role within it, know very well the full implications of what I say, communicated with sincere deliberation.

As the Republic indicates an apparent recession, we take the opportunity to remind the Republic of its essential role within the Himyar and also its valiant place in the international world order. For all the internal dilemmas and debates in Fortaleza Real, let this not be forgotten. Whilst politicians pluck the string of populism and vote-catching, we remind them of their responsibility on the behalf of Frescania and its quintessential noblesse oblige. It has a duty and a role to play and this should never be forgotten, especially with the re-emergence of previously slumbering, but now activist, Carentania and all the woe that foretells.

However, should it come to pass that the Republic should retreat under a bushel of obscurity, take it from me, we shall fill the breach. We for one are not prepared for years of hard work to go to waste and be abandoned. Forthwith, we shall consult with our Himyarian allies ~ Media and The Jurzan ~ and consult with others further afar. The vacuum left shall be filled to the best of our endeavour and ability even if it stretches us, so important is The Himyar to our sovereign well-being and that of the civilised world. In preparation, we shall increase our armed forces and presence to fill the likely void with, in immediate effect, increased preparedness in the military sphere with respect to The Jurzan and a significant, but necessary, buttressing of the Kongelige Danske Marine into the Long Sea and its environs. In this stepping up to responsibility, we shall reevaluate existing arrangements with regional allies.

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
UNITED REPUBLIC OF SYLVANIA

The United Republic commends the Frescanian people for finally realizing the truth in the failure of the "Empire of Democracy." It seems that finally Democracy has struck back for its blatant misuse in Frescanian foreign policy, though the Frescanian people enjoy a "sense" of freedom, those nations who live under Frescanian control and influence are not given the same treatment. Take Bantyr for example, recently there has been praise of the birth of a Republican system in Frescanian Occupied Bantyr, but the Bantyric people still fight against their occupiers. Perhaps it is because they realize what the Frescanian people have realized: that this highly lauded Republican victory is just a product of Frescanaian manipulation instead of a natural creation.

Too much money has been spent in Frescania's attempt to artificially spread democracy through Himyar, too much blood has been spilled in Frescania's attempt to push Frescanian "democracy" in Scania and finally your people have realized that they gain nothing but pain, misery and poverty by supporting Frescania's "Empire." The foreign policies of Frescania have done much to destroy the credibility of Republicanism in Europe, these underhanded tactics are akin to the manipulative and subversive methods of spreading Communism or Fascism.

Now your empire crumbles around your ears and you have nothing to show for it but war medals, blood money and thousands of rotting corpses. The United Republic shall watch with pride as the Frescanian people take democracy back from the thugs in Forteza Real while the "Empire of Democracy" rots away. Only when this "Empire" is dead and the people of Frescania have wrestled freedom back into their control shall Republicanism be clean of the stench of nation building.

An Extension of The Queen-Empress' Statement in Council.
DULWICH, SUNDAY, 23rd SEPTEMBER 1952

TO THE PRESIDENT, PARLIAMENTARIANS, AND COMMONERS OF THE REPUBLIC OF FRESCANIA
I am instructed to EXPRESS on behalf of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty;

The political drawing-rooms of the imperial metropolis are all the same engaged in discussing the probable immediate consequences of an isolationist scheme from Fortaleza Real.

There can be but little doubt that one of the absolute results of a true conclusion of peace in Saamiskavia will be, that the Republic of Frescania will become the predominating power in Himyar without any dispute. The contemporary traditions of the democratic empire of President Manuel Rodriguez will be thereby brought ever more potently into the foreground, although in a modified form determined by Frescanian parliamentarians, and adapted to the exigencies of present times and to the altered diplomatic relations of Europe. It is true we may not be able to apprehend the energies of isolationist fronts, but the continuance of the present intimate co-operation between Great Engellex and Frescania should be expected, agreeably to the traditions of President Manuel Rodriguez and her Majesty the Queen-Empress Charlotte to furnish domestic and diplomatic strategies for the gravest consideration on the part of the Communist monstrosity emerging in Northern Himyar and Southern Preuti-Borussia, as soon as we are both able to conclude the peace for Saamiskavia.

Even now, in well-informed diplomatic circles, I have heard it asserted that an arrangement is upon the table for the speedy and destructive intervention of Boliatur by the Carentanian Army and the troops of Jurchen, and it is added that this arrangement between Carentania and Jurchen is brought to such designs by want of assuming advantages against domestic considerations of true democratic nations – those who actually maintain democratic institutions and credibility, such as Frescania and Great Engellex. I cannot, however, take upon myself to say that this information is particularly entitled to credit. Diplomatic correspondents are doomed to hear a great many things which wear the outward aspect, more or less, of probability; and yet they frequently turn out to be nothing more than idle conjecture. It is asserted, however, by certain would-be farsighted politicians of the Engellexic class, that the present manoeuvres between Carentania and Jurchen are based upon the best possible understanding between the respective countries, to the effect that an unholy alliance would best promote the great interests of Preuti-Borussia, Himyar and Toyou, in their eyes, by placing them under the predominating influence of Carentania and Jurchen. Hints have also been thrown out that such an alliance would enable Marshall Dorgon to attempt an improved re-organisation of Touzen, in conformity with the principles of his aggressive Post-Delegationist policies, with fair chance of success.

The immediate result of such fears must be that the democratic and civilised states of Europe resolve upon a closer alliance amongst themselves, to the manifest detriment of the much desired division by revolutionary regimes. The Republic of Frescania must abandon the folly of isolationism and recognise the necessity of participating in such a worthy enterprise.

His Grace, the DUKE of NONSUCH,

Vizquel: Frescania will maintain its commitment to Himyar and the World

Chairman of the Socialist Party and candidate for the Chancellery, Cesar Vizquel, condemned the recent Democratic attacks on the Government.

The Socialist leader also stated the Frescania will maintain its international commitment if elected Chancellor.

Cesar Vizquel has an uphill battle due to his association with the current government and its policiea.

Mr. Vizquel called the recent attacks on the Government by Minority leader Pierre Chomirac “outrageous and dangerous”, saying that the Democratic leader “is helping the same ‘enemies’ he claims the Government is appeasing”.

The Socialist leader has to convince the population that the Carmelas administrations have benefited Frescania. Vizquel has moved the party towards the center as an attempt to get the independent vote. In contrast, the Mr. Chomirac has moved his Democratic Party far to the right in numerous issues, especially national security.

Mr. Vizquel called on European leaders to “cooperate with the Government of the Republic before taking the actions of a few Deputies as a sign of the entire country”.

When asked what would be his response if elected Chancellor, Vizquel stated that “the Republic will continue its crucial international role. If elected, I will promote the Partnership as a body that is necessary for peace, I will expand our relationship with regional partners, and continue our mission in Bantyr”.

Polls continue to show a divided citizenry, as both parties continue their search for the few independent voters left. Experts predict that the parliamentarian election will have a profound effect in next year’s presidential one. Indeed, it is still unknown whether President Manuel Rodriguez will run for a second term.

Frescania has always played an important role in international politics. Especially the conception of the Hymiar Partnership showed the commitment of the Frescanian government with peace and stability, factors which are absolutely needed to let democracy work well. The current government of Frescania understands very well that peace and stability in Hymiar is also in the interest of the Frescanians. We hope that the Frescanians will understand that.

de Rosa: We Will Stand Against Reactionaries

Chairman of the Liberal Party and candidate to the Chancellery, Rafael de Rosa, told supporters that if elected, his government would “stand against all forms of reactionary forces throughout Europe”.

The Liberal Party is enthusiastic that the current drift within the Socialist Party could provide them with defective votes.

Rafael de Rosa is hoping to resuscitate the Liberal Party’s influence in Frescanian politics.

Mr. de Rosa told supporters that the Liberals have “consistently stood up against all form of reactionary forces in both our Republic and abroad. Our Party’s history shows that time and again, we did not allow them to corner our nation”.

The Liberal Party is Frescania’s third largest, and stands for social progressive and free market policies. The party suffered tremendously when the now dominant Socialist Party was started, and it has been unsuccessful at revitalizing itself. In last year’s parliamentarian election, it took only 30 seats, that is, 4.8 percent of the vote.

However, with recent events causing havoc within the Socialist ranks, many Liberal leaders are seeing a chance from which they can return to prominence.
De Rosa has promised that if his party is elected, the Liberals would continue the Socialist agenda of reform. “Chancellor Carmelas and his Socialist Party have taken a page out of our agenda with the recent economic reforms. We were the firsts to propose it in the Assembly years ago, and only got pushed to the side. Our agenda will propel Frescania forward”.

Cesar Vizquel (SP), Pierre Chomirac (DP), and the Freedom Party’s Alvaro Castro continue their campaign tours throughout Frescania. Polls show a close race for control over the National Assembly.

Castro: The Government Must End Agricultural Subsidies

Alvaro Castro, the Freedom Party’s candidate for the Chancellery, told supporters that the federal government should end all subsidies to farmers.

The Libertarian candidate’s platform consist of minimizing governmental spending and give the free market greater control over Frescania’s economy.

Alvaro Castro has successfully established the Freedom Party’s reputation in local politics throughout the Republic. Questions remind as to whether he can do the same at the national level.

Mr. Castro said that the agricultural subsidies “are destroying our farmers and our well-being. These subsidies are given to giant agricultural corporations and only serve to hinder our democracy. This is Mezhism at its best!”

The Freedom Party is a libertarian bloc that wants to reduce the nation’s government to only necessary functions. Within its platform, the Libertarians call for “expansive decentralization”, a term defined as the transfer of most of the federal government’s programs to the states.

Mr. Castro told supporters that “the nanny-state must be abolished if our Republic is to flourish. The welfare snake will strangle our free market economy and our prosperity”.

In another rally, Mr. Castro agreed with Mr. Chomirac’s decision to end the financial aid to Jurzan and Media, and the calls to end the war in Bantyr. The Libertarian leader went further, stating that if elected, “I will end all of the Republic’s expensive and useless alliances. The first one to go will be the Communist-Mezhist Himyar Partnership”.

Carmelas Introduces New Defense Bill

This afternoon, Chancellor Miguel Carmelas introduced a new defense bill.

The bill comes as war looms in the horizon of Himyar, and conflict erupted in Samartia.

This is Chancellor Miguel Carmelas’ last defense bill.

The Chancellor told members of the assembly that the passage of the new bill was “essential for the Republic’s defenses. Reactionary forces loom throughout our border, even from those that we once called partners”.

The bill comes as Danish forces continue their offensive against Miroslavl, and Carentania tightens its blockade against Jurzan. Frescania has condemned both actions and has called on both nations to constraint further activites.

Mr. Carmelas continued by saying that Frescania “cannot depend on any nation for her security. As reactionaries take the offensive in all fronts, and the civilized world is falling asleep”.

The bill would increase Frescania’s defense budget to ₣885 million, from its current ₣600 million. The Armed Forces has requested for more support since the end of the Northern Conflict, which saw a drastic expansion of Frescanian investment to the military since the end of the Terrastanian Monarchy.

Our Endorsement: Cesar Vizquel is Frescania’s Best Choice
By: Sergio Salinas

With just four days away from Assembly elections, Frescanians will vote for a new government that will shape domestic policy for the upcoming year. Yet, polls continue to show a close race between the Socialist and Democratic Parties, as the Liberals and Libertarians provide an obstacle for a clear majority for either side.

However, the Republic must move forward towards a free and prosperous society. We face difficulties at home and crises abroad, and our government must make the right decisions without fearing political backlash. The Socialists under the leadership of Chancellor Miguel Carmelas have provided Frescania with stable domestic tranquility and international harmony. This paper applauds the three Carmelas’ governments (1950-1953) for its ability to do what is right for the Republic and not for the Socialist Party.

We wish we could say the same for the Democrats, who shamelessly ended the notion of loyal opposition for political gains. A Democratic government will be prone to extreme responses to curtail criticism against it. Frescania cannot afford censorship as the birthplace of Republicanism.

It is with this in mind that we endorse Cesar Vizquel and the Socialist Party for a fourth year in power. Mr. Vizquel has embraced Chancellor Carmelas’ centrist economic stance while promising and expansion of the Frescanian welfare system. Mr. Vizquel has further stated the he will maintain Frescania’s presence in the international arena, in complete contrast from Pierre Chomirac, the Democratic leader.

We must point out that this paper would prefer a Liberal government. However, we are not blind to the fact that the Liberal Party will fail to gain 50+1 percentages of the seats to determine the government. We can only hope that they become part of a coalition with the Socialists and counter the far left’s control over the government.

While Frescanians will choose between Pierre Chomirac (D) [upper-right] and Cesar Vizquel (S) [upper-left] as the Chancellery, if either of their parties failed to obtain a majority, it will be either Rafael de Rosa (L) [lower-left] or Alvaro Castro (F) [lower-right] that will shape the upcoming government.

Furthermore, this paper remains committed to the ideals of the republican system, that is, the belief that compromise between different ideals is essential for the prosperity of our Republic. The Democrats have failed to take this stand, and recent polls show a distinct disapproval of the current partisan division that exists in Frescanian politics. Indeed, “the Chomirac Putsch” that ended financial support on Media and Jurzan is cited as the primary case of the partisan division in the National Assembly.

The Republic cannot survive the partisanship that is dividing our political elite. We must move past this small issues and tackle our bigger problems: an stagnated economy, the expansion of a more firm safety net for all our citizens, and provide a strategy, and an eventual peaceful exit, for our troops in Bantyr.

Lastly, we further endorse the West Antilles’ statehood into the Republic. For too long have our brothers in the shores of the Zulia-Santander continent have been denied their full rights as citizens of this Republic. We also firmly believe that Bitumtania’s eventual statehood will also greatly benefit our Republican family.

Yet, regardless of our ideological differences, this Friday we must all celebrate a basic right that many throughout the world do not enjoy: the right to decide, freely and without fear, our elected leaders and our government. Despite our divisions, the Republic will always be a beacon of inspirations to many under the different shades of tyranny.

Democrats Wins Parliamentarian Elections

Breaking news, we can report that the Democratic Party has won today’s parliamentarian elections.

The results have been announced by the National Electoral Council.

After a hard fought campaign, Pierre Chomirac now has the task to form a government by December 1

Teresa Palerma, Chairwoman of the National Electoral Council, stated that with a razor thin majority of 51 percent, the Democratic Party has taken control over the National Assembly. This translates to 317 of seats in the lower house. The Socialist Party has obtained 40 percent (250 seats). Liberals acquired 8 percent (50 seats) and the Libertarians obtained 1 percent (8 seats).

Talking to supporters, Pierre Chomirac has thanked the Frescanian people for giving him and the Democrats a chance to set forward a new domestic agenda. “We will not fail this chance you have given us”, said the Chancellor-Elect.

Cesar Vizquel has conceded to his opponent and has called on his Socialist Party to “move past our political differences so that we can cooperate with the new Government for the wellbeing of our Republic”. Outgoing Chancellor Miguel Carmelas congratulated Mr. Chomirac, stating that he will make sure that the transition “is as smooth as possible”.

Analysts have stated that while Mr. Chomirac won today's elections, it should not be taken as a mandate. Indeed, the Democrats got a razor thin majority, just enough to form a government.

President Manuel Rodriguez is expected to call upon Mr. Chomirac to form a government later this week. The new Democratic Government will take office the first of December and will govern until next year’s general elections.

In Other News...

:!: The National Electoral Council has also announced that with 55 percent approval, the Frescanian West Antilles have approved entrance into the Republic as a state. The territory’s government will now have to work with the newly elected National Assembly to make sure that statehood comes as smoothly as possible.

:!: With Parliamentarian elections over, political parties begin scrambling for February’s presidential election. It is still unknown whether President Manuel Rodriguez will run for a second term.

:!: The Armed Forces has begun military drills in the deserts of Bitumtania. The Ministry of Defense has been silence regarding the exercise, but source tell us that it has been prompted due to recent events in eastern Himyar and the Far East.
