An Extension of The Queen-Empress' Statement in Council.
DULWICH, SATURDAY, 5th JANUARY 1953​

TO THE PRESIDENT, MINISTERS AND COMMONERS OF THE REPUBLIC OF FRESCANIA
I am instructed to DELIVER on behalf of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty;​

I write this letter to express the Empire of Great Engellex’s entire and unqualified concurrence in the proceedings of the Republic of Frescania, and his Excellency, President Manuel Rodriguez’s, cordial approbation of the concerns held by her Majesty, with which a naval deployment was also found necessary by Frescania.

From the reasoned and appropriate manner in which the government of Fortaleza Real had acted upon this occasion, it was impossible that any truly responsible nation could refuse the republic deserved praise and recognition. Frescania has, indeed, conducted itself with a firmness so judicially tempered with conciliation, as to maintain the dignity and resolution with which Dulwich and Fortaleza Real have reached unreserved understanding; and, at the same time, not to shut the door against an opportunity of an amicable adjustment, if the Danish Crown were so disposed. Indeed, under all the circumstances, her Majesty could not see how it was possible for Great Engellex and Frescania to have taken a different course. The Kingdom of Danmark, in becoming the instrument of the Danish Royal Council of State to take hostile measures against the Kingdom of Agderike and Fey, to adopt the course of harassing us diplomatically and frustrating the Liberty of the North that the Danish Royal Council of State had pursued, left us no other alternative than that which had been taken.

Her Engellexic Imperial and Royal Majesty had especially commanded her First Lord of Aldwych d’Evercy House to express her appreciation of the vindication, by the Coalition of the Willing (those opposed to the Royal Council of State), of the resolution to resent the Danish acquisition of Agderike and Fey, and to express her Majesty’s confidence that Ministers, in evincing such a solicitude for her Majesty the Queen Inger Lise of Østveg’s Agderike and Fey Realms, but acted in unison with the feelings of their own peoples, who must ever participate in the feelings and wish of their elected governments.

As to the arguments used by the Kingdom of Danmark, which the Empire of Great Engellex observed as recently as the yester-day, they appeared to her Majesty to be obviously untenable upon any principle of justice. The Ministers of Christiansborg state, that the Danish Crown holds Agderike and Fey by right of natural monarchist succession, and under that right assumed to dispose of it. But, without any reference to the forcible and outrageous manner in which the Danish Royal Council of State originally determined to negotiate the matter, and which the Danish Ministers appear quite oblivious to, it was clear that, at the time they undertook to transfer it to Danmark, they did not hold popular consent from the people of those realms, for there exists great disagreement toward the conduct of the Danish Crown and their agents in the Agderike capital. And unless the Danish Class of several hundreds could be argued to imply a possession of a majority of the entire population, it would be absurd to attempt the maintaining, upon any principle of public justice, that the Danish Crown held a popular welcome at this time of the transfer so justly complained of.

Therefore, the main ground of justification upon which the Danish Crown seemed to rely for the validity of this transfer, must fall to the ground. Indeed the declaration of the Kingdom of Danmark, made yester-day to her Majesty of Great Engellex, distinctly supported this argument, and recognised the principles of justice and popular consent, which the Empire of Great Engellex and the Republic of Fortaleza Real asserts.

Frescania Continues Quarantine

During a press conference, President Manuel Rodriguez stated that Frescania will continue its quarantine of Agderike’s waters.

The statement comes as nations throughout Europe react to the Frescanian initiative.

The Navy has positioned itself throughout Agderike's waters. ​

This morning, President Rodriguez stated that Frescania “will continue the established quarantine by the Republican Navy until the people of Agderike make a decision about their government. The Government of Danmark has stated that the crown has passed, constitutionally, to their Monarch. While this would be acceptable in the age of Monarchism, no people should be forced to be ruled by a non-democratic leader.”

The Frescanian quarantine has drawn support and condemnation from numerous governments, demonstrating the deep division regarding the country’s action. When asked about the recent condemnations, the President calmly explained that “numerous of those nations have no bases for such statements. Some call on our navy to withdraw, yet similar governments argue against other foreign nation interfering on their sphere of influence. Others claim to have the

However, let be known that the Republic will continue to maintain friendly relations with all nations that have issued statements as we have no reason to see why bilateral relations should end due to this crisis.”

The situation has changed as Admiral Braaten of the Agderike Navy, has stated that it will support the Navy’s quarantine. Similar statements have come from the governments of Great Engellex and Sylvania.

President Rodriguez welcomed support and mentioned that “the Republican Navy will fully support Admiral Braaten and his cause. We also welcome Engellexic and Sylvanian support for the quarantine.” The President also re-stated that the Navy will prevent military ships from entering Agderike.

Sources within the government have stated that all Frescanian embassies have been given warnings in case of possible assaults. Although unlikely, it is unknown how citizens will react to the continuation of the quarantine policy.

We have to remind the foreign ministry that it should know better by this stage as to the constitutional reality over the Accession and we wince to discover that like the other three nations engaging in the blockade, there is a distinct preference of truth-twisting to suit self-serving ends and the belief of a myth over sound reality.

The myth insists that the king was imposed and that my country is some sort of threat to the order of the Scanian Archipelago. The reality could not be further away. The reality is that there was never an imposition, that the Crown has acted in progressive manners even with the right of the people - done properly and above board - for even a legal removal of the succession of the King and a democratic approach from the very start - all the things all the other three nations supposedly believe in. I remind all that we led the vanguard on change whilst others slumbered.

A threat to the region? My nation has not even moved any forces to the region yet we see three others do exactly that.

The actions of the three may be deduced in several ways:

the extensive use of smoke and mirrors in an outward pretence of cooing doveish platitudes over Agder and Fey but in reality engineering their own regional expansionism and carving out their spheres of influence - Agder and Fey treated more as an excuse for bounty hunting, glorification, and spheres of control;

[ii] that there exists a hyper-paranoia on a level taken to extremes that is all too revealing by this actions;

[iii] that friendly nations and nominal allies are dispensable and that there exists a supreme malignant dishonour from some of the blockade states, forgetting the assistance and alliance that my country has provided to two of the blockade states;

[iv] the decision to gather together is laughable as it is based on a phantom menace. Three navies align but there is no threat from this country and that the issue of twisting the remit of the original blockade from one against my country into one against peacekeepers is the act of the slippery eel - the prime goal of spheres of influence and control must remain sacred, it appears;

[v] that all three misread the actual situation or tried to hammer square pegs into round holes to create a case for action that holds no water, indeed that case leaks waters everywhere.

Despite all this, we judge the Engellexians and the Frescanians as the more temperate and, to some extent, more responsible of the three, even though all are condemned by us. There exists a respect for Old World values which we all share that despite the current impasse are the more important, irremovable and civilisationary bedrocks which has been adhered to by all we three nations for a time far longer than the current crisis has existed.

However, I am not so sure that the bandwagoning, blowhard glory-seeking opportunists of Sylvania are entirely in belief of this in the way we mean, and the black ogre amongst all the three of the blockade nations surely has to be that Occidentian nation's government which specially exists as a threat to Engellex, though not so much Frescania.

I believe that my judgement, in the round and looking far beyond this crisis, will be correct and that once the Agder and Fey crisis and the unholy marriage of convenience passes, that we will all see the menace directed from that part of the world.

West Antilles Formally Applies for Statehood

This morning, a delegation from the Frescanian territory of the West Antilles arrived in Fortaleza Real with the task to formally apply for statehood.

The delegation comes after last November referendum in which the citizens of the territory voted in favor of joining the Federal Union.

The Frescanian West Antilles are a link to the former Terrastanian Empire. ​

Diego Martinez, the head of the delegation, told reporters outside Parliament that “the people of the West Antilles are fellow citizens of this great Republic. Although it has taken us longer than our fellow countryman, we are here to petition Parliament for our statehood.”

The Frescanian territory of the West Antilles was acquired by the Empire of Terrastania back in 1602. Since then, it has played a pivotal role in the country’s role in Zulia-Santander. In 1942, the Frescanian Parliament granted the archipelago territory status. The citizens of the territory voted last 11th of November to change their political relationship with Frescania.

Mr. Martinez confirmed rumors that the government in San Cristobal plans to call for a referendum for a new name of the archipelago. “The territorial government will put forward to the people names that experts believe are natural for the islands. Whichever one is approved, will become our official designation.”

According to the Constitution of Frescania, a territory can join as a state once its population has reached 2 million. Although the clause is vague, the National Assembly has mandated that the citizens of the territory must approve any application for joining the Republic.

The Democratic control Assembly is expected to approve the entrance of the West Antilles. However, it is unknown when the vote will take place.

Frescania recognized the Kingdom of Østveg. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry called for “stability and peace” as the newly constitutional monarchy embarks on the path of rebuilding the nation.

Democratic candidate Daniel Nurman criticized Talemantros as the former launched an attack on Danish troops. The former intern president said that the cooling of Frescanian-Danish relations due to the Agderike Succession Crisis “is of grave concern for Himyarite stability”.

The government of the West Antilles will put forward a naming convention on the 15th of February, the same day as the presidential elections. It is unknown what proposed names would be put forward by the government in San Cristobal.

Ministry of Defense has confirmed that it will begin lifting the quarantine around Østveg within the next few weeks. The Ministry stated that Frescanian forces will continue to be on high alert and will be near in the Gothic Sea to continue their mission.

The economy sees a boost as Chancellor Pierre Chomirac’s stimulus package comes into effect. It is uncertain whether this injection of capital will be enough to re-start the Frescanian economy.

The National Electoral Council begins preparations for the upcoming presidential election, where recent polls show a tie race between former interim president Daniel Nurman (Democratic Party) and President Manuel Rodriguez (Socialist Party).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a Frescanian plane has crashed over the Nordic island of Fey. It has also confirmed that the Armed Forces will take send a force to recover the troops.*

Rodriguez Meets Braaten, Discuss Bilateral Relations

After a long flight from Sylvania, Kristian Braaten, the Austwegian Chancellor, met President Manuel Rodriguez in Fortaleza Real.

The two leaders are discussing bilateral relationship between Frescania and the newly established Kingdom of Östveg.

President Rodriguez welcomed Chancellor Braaten stating that Frescania “welcomes the new democratic regime in Östveg and we will do all within our power to aid in the reconstruction of the country”.

The talks come as Östveg returns to the international arena after the Agderike Succession Crisis, in which Engellex, Frescania and Sylvania decided to prevent Danish King Frederick III from assuming the throne. Chancellor Braaten has just signed a defense agreement with Sylvania, and has suggested a similar arrangement should come to fruition with Frescania.

However, it is unknown whether Rodriguez will agree to such an agreement. Although Chancellor Pierre Chomirac has openly called for an alliance, the Socialist President might be waiting until after next week’s presidential elections before making a decision.

Indeed, sources close to the President have stated that Miraflores will demand military access in the new country as a prerequisite for an alliance. Experts believe that this demand is for Östveg own defense, as Frescanian forces are already stationed in the territory of Ceosrath and Suionia.

The two leaders will also discuss the recent plane crash in Fey, the possibility of a trade agreement, and any modifications to the financial loan provided by Frescania to the new regime.

Speaking with Chancellor Braaten, we feel that this arrangement would be unable to pass in both the Folkting and Førsteting, and much less would I be comfortable signing such an arrangement without their full support. It has been indicated to my offices that my Kingdom would not be opposed to an alternative means to attempt grant increased security opportunities to the Frescanian Republic in the Skandian region. Thus I have been instructed with the blessings of the Folkting to grant Chancellor Braaten that ability to negotiate the allowance of a lease of one-hundred and fifty years to a military base which would employ over one-thousand Austwegians and be capable of holding over 30,000 Frescanian personnel. This military base would exist on the island of Fey and represent a boost to their local economy with the increase in traffic, as well as goods and services and give Frescania the Nordic positioning it so desires. In return, mutual defense between our nations would be signed. Yet the Austwegian people do not wish to feel as though they are being given a raw deal from an imperialistic power in a position to exert power over our newly proclaimed nation. It is our intention and hope that Frescania in this agreement would aid in the defense of all future Austwegian trading companies and colonial ventures. It is the belief that the united response in the defense of our future efforts to expand the powers of democracy and free-market capital across the globe, that then we enter into ourselves a partnership for the betterment of human society across all nations and peoples. This has been communicated to myself via the Folkting and now to Chancellor Braaten and we hope that such a counter-proposal can be deemed as acceptable by the President of one of the most free peoples in Europe. Gerard Discusses Frescanian Operations in Fey

In an unannounced press conference, Secretary of Defense François Gerard devoted two hours to the situation in Fey.

The conference comes as Frescanian forces in the area together with Sylvanian troops are beginning a rescue operation.

Secretary of Defense François Gerard addressed the Fey situation as President Rodriguez and Chancellor Chomirac meet with the Austwegian Chancellor. ​

Secretary Gerard told reporters that the Frescanian air force “had been supplying food and medical materials to the isolated islanders in Fey during the Succession Crisis. During one of the North's infamous storms, one of our planes lost controlled and crashed.”

The Secretary of Defense continued by saying that the Armed Forces were in the process of working together with their Sylvanian counterparts “to speed up the rescue mission.” Sources close to the Ministry have stated that Admiral Garcia’s forces in Ceosrath will take charge of the mission.

Frescanian forces throughout the region continue to be on high alert as the crisis begins to cool down. Although Danmark has stated it will not recognized the new regime and that a government-in-exile will exist in Christianborg, sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs state that Östveg will fully join the international community.

Gerard finished by stating that although Frescanian forces were moving into Fey, "our men in uniform have been ordered to withdraw as soon as the rescue operation is finished. We respect the sovereignty of Östveg over the Fey island. The Republic only station troops on foreign soil with the permission of the sovereign government."

The situation comes as President Manuel Rodriguez and Chancellor Pierre Chomirac continue their meeting with Auswegian Chancellor Kirsten Braaten. The talks, which are believe to include a defensive pact, have been taking place in the presidential palace of Miraflores.

:!: The National Assembly is scheduled to vote on a new reduction of import tariffs by 10 percentages while the Senate has announced that it plans to introduce a bill deregulating the financial sector.

:!: The National Electoral Council has released a statement calling on all Frescanians “to exercise their right to vote this Friday the 15th.” The government of the West Antilles will also be putting forward a referendum on the name of the archipelagos before it joins the Federal Union.

:!: When asked if Frescania would intervene if either Jurzan or Pathava evoked the Himyar Partnership for Peace's defensive clause, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Henrique Maduro has stated that Frescania "will not get involved in the current conflict in eastern Himyar. We do not see the recent actions by the main parties as defensive acts that requires our involvement."

As the self-anointed bastion of Grand Republicanism, which it otherwise stands in good stead and is exemplary and illustrious, the Frescanian government lets itself down considerably, as I myself have raised before, in forays towards lands not intrinsically in its own inherent sphere for ease of capture and domination whilst casting an eye wayward on issues that directly effect its own national integrity and direct sovereign interests which prove commensurately more difficult and intractable.

The northern Himyar is the direct concern of the Frescanian Republic for quintessential reasons yet the current government of the Republic turns its back on the region for the vainglory of trumpets and drums in distant lands and, if I may say, is lamely recumbent lazily plucking the strings of its harp whilst the Himyarian tinderbox in its own backyard has only for some nation or some person to carelessly throw an unspent matchstick in order to generate an inferno.

From my own perspective, the Republic has an onus of responsibility that it appears it will shirk for mere difficulty and fear of the mire and is tending towards supreme national and international negligence for which it shall reap the rewards for its folly. The leader of the Himyar Partnership clearly does not support its valiance with action and we can only say, in direct result, that either the Republic is a paper tiger or that the very brainchild of Fortaleza Real is.

Even so, the Himyar Partnership is increasingly burned and smeared and it is not worthy of continued membership as some of its members do not support it and even though others do, it is still spent. It requires replacement and alternatives in this, the new era, and as such, the Kingdom and Imperium of the Great Danish nation does hereby retract membership from the said organisation in a support of an alternative approach with significantly more backbone.

President Manuel Rodriguez and Chancellor Kristen Braaten signed a defense pact between Frescania and Östveg. The treaty provides clauses in which the armed forces of the two nations will work together “to secure the peace and stability of the North.” Similarly, the Frescanian armed forces have been given access to an Austwegian base in the island of Fey.

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Henrique Maduro has stated that Frescania “will strongly object to any foreign intervention in the current eastern conflict. This is a situation that must be resolved by the Himyarite nations only, namely, Jurzan, Parthava and Talemantros.” The Secretary also lamented the withdraw of Jurzan and Danmark from the Himyar Partnership for Peace, "an organization created for stability in Himyar, which is unfortunately being dismantled by its own signatory members."

Frescanian and Sylvanian forces have rescued the three soldiers lost during a humanitarian operation in the island of Fey. The Ministry of Defense has released a statement thanking their Sylvanian counterparts “for the solidarity between our two great Republics.”

Socialists announce that they will do “everything within our power” to stop the passage of a possible deregulation bill in the Senate. Although the Democrats control the upper chamber, its powers are restricted by the Frescanian Constitution.

Manuel Rodriguez Wins Re-Election

With 95 percent of the total ballots counted, the National Electoral Council (NEC) has announced that President Manuel Rodriguez has won today’s presidential election.

Rodriguez’s re-election has given hope to the Socialist Party, who lost last November’s parliamentarian elections to Chancellor Chomirac’s Democrats.

President Rodriguez will have to compromise on foreign policy with a Conservative government. ​

With 55 percent, Rodriguez has been declared the victor of today’s elections. The NEC also stated that Democratic candidate Daniel Nurman got 40 percent of the vote, while 5 percent abstained. This is one of the lowest abstention rates in Frescanian history.

Celebrating with his supporters, Rodriguez thanked the Frescanian people “for giving me another chance at leading our wonderful Republic. I promise you that I will be the president for all Frescanians.”

Chancellor Pierre Chomirac congratulated the President and stated that the government “will work closely with president-elect Rodriguez so that our Republic continues its path of righteousness.” President Nurman has also congratulated Rodriguez and called on the Democratic Party to “begin the process of consolidation and take its position as a loyal opposition with President Rodriguez.”

Experts predict that now with the election behind him, Rodriguez will steer Frescania's foreign policy back to the center. Although the conservative government will attempt to make moves to dominate the agenda and continue the recent shift towards a more forceful use of Frescanian power.

President Rodriguez will take the oath of office on first of March, starting his second term in office.

:!: With 65 percentages, the citizens of the Frescanian West Antilles have chosen Catalina as the archipelagos’ new name. With the referendum over, Governor Arturo Gallego will send to the National Assembly an application for statehood on the 1st of March.

We note the announcement of the Frescanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs but we need to remind it that Danish intervention into the unveiling potential conflict in the northern Himyar is due to obligations and agreements with the sovereign state of Parthia and, as such, not the preserve nor under the dictat of whoever directs the government from Fortaleza Real. In essence, its concerns should be directed towards working relations with those that harbinger peace and stability than mere rancour towards fellows that seek to plough the same trough.

The Empire shall uphold its obligations to Parthia and to those beyond upon bilateral agreements and to do otherwise would be an exercise in supreme scurrilousness.

Whilst the Republic of Frescania has largely turned a blind eye to actions in its own very backyard whilst preferring to stretch its arms across other portions of the world in manifest operations of Empire building, one likely refuted by those that engage in it, the Realm has maintained its consistency in upholding stability. It is interesting for a nation that has so far largely ignored its own backyard in favour of squalid forays into territories far beyond its remits that it now suddenly and belatedly discovers its raison d'etre if only to figleaf its forgetfulness and also convenient striding into its own backyard, which it sees as its own playground to splash around in, driven by opportunism and the disguise of the creation of empire, the Himyar seen as a mere playground within which to create a Frescanian Empire.

The Danish government can tolerate cooperation but not engrandisement of Frescanian ambitiousness. This would be utterly wrong and it would totally trespass upon the nations of the region in terms of their own direction which is, to be direct, not the business of Frescania and trespass incurring immense resentment.

From the pronouncements, Fortaleza Real may involve itself if foreign nations involve themselves. Whilst ignoring the fact that there are several nations involved which have their own right to direct their own policy, conveniently ignored in the desperation of Fortaleza Real to remake its stance, this is also an exercise in grandstanding. Indeed, as we have stated on many occasions, the Republic is lacking in dedication towards its own region and it is somewhat rich for it to ride up in such a cavalier manner to stake claims it otherwise ignored.

Whilst Fortaleza Real may u-turn if it wants to, Christiansborg definately is not for turning.
