The Sultanate's offer to host negotiations between the two parties still stands. We are still awaiting an official reply from the Carentanian government.

This is incorrect. We have already declared our willingness to attend such talks.

As for the Talemantine decision not to increase its already threatening border presence: we applaud it, but reject any notion that this makes Carentania the aggressor. We wish to point out that our forces at the border do now have about equal strength and that it was still the Talemantine Empire which declared that a state of war exists and expressed its intention to shoot any Carentanian soldier coming within their reach.

Senate Convenes as Senior Senator Passes Away

Something that has not happened in over a century in the Talemantine Government is expected to happen next week. The Talemantine Senate is scheduled to convene in Talemaniki on orders from the emperor as Senior Consul. The call for the Senate comes as elections in many major cities, including Talemaniki, near that will determine thirty of the 300 seats in the Senate.

It is said that the Senate will be undertaking discussions on major reforms of the government and other aspects of the empire. This coincides with the emperor's previous plans to enact reforms and restructuring of the Talemantine government to make the bureaucracy more efficient. The last major reforms undertaken were under Theodore VIII, which set about the present organization of government.

Also to be announced this week before the Senate convenes will be the replacement for Senator Fulvio Cospito. Cospito has been serving in the senate since 1942 and was the most senior member of the Senate at the time of his death a few weeks ago. Senator Cospito served on several senatorial committees and chaired the Senate Executive Committee for the past fifteen years.

"Senator Cospito was a pillar in the Senate and in our government. Since my time as chancellor Fulvio has been an inspiration to me and this administration. His guidance and leadership in the Senate will be missed and will be irreplaceable." Stated Chancellor Alexis Florioli.

It is expected that Emperor Waylon X will appoint a member of the Cospito family to replace Fulvio Cospito.

Other News: Alert Level on Carentanian Border Lowered

General Ezio Laconi, Secretary of War, announced that the Talemantine forces in Seleucia on the border with Carentania will be downgraded to a lower alert status. This was done as the Secretariat assessment that the Carentanian threat had passed. General Laconi did stress that the current number of troops would not be reduced and will remain as they are.

Other News: Secretary of State Heads to Marquette

It has been confirmed that Secretary of State and Vice Chancellor Carmine Gavallo will be traveling to the Kingdom of Marquette. The State Secretariat didn't release the agenda for the discussion, but most certainly economic relations and the present troubles in Marquette will be on the table.

Talemantine Empire joins Hajri and Axumite Criticisms

Before he left for Marquette Secretary of State Carmine Gavallo announced that the Empire agrees with the concerns and objection voiced by the Caliphate* of Hajr and the Empire of Axum. "The Talemantine Empire as one of the oldest native states in Himyar we cannot condone nor support this new attempt a colonialism in our continent. Talemaniki will work with our regional partners to prevent colonialism from reviving in Himyar."

Late Senator's Daughter Appointed as Replacement

In a stunning action Emperor Waylon X appointed Lady Aurelia Sciorra to take her late father's seat in the Senate. Auralia Sciorra is Senator Fulvio Cospito's eldest child. Lady Aurelia Sciorra had the support of the entire Cospito family, where more usual candidates were passed over such as Senator Cospito's younger bother or his son Stefano.

The Emperor made the announcement on the steps of the Senate Building with Aurelia Sciorra standing behind him. "Senator Fulvio Cospito and the Cospito family have given much over the years and their sacrifice cannot be diminished by the lost of a man. Lady Aurelia will be an excellent addition to the long tradition in the Senate. I am sure Mrs. Sciorra will serve her father's memory and legacy well and to serve the people of this realm with honor"

Lady Aurelia's appointment to the Talemantine Senate breaks through the gender barrier in one of the world's oldest gentleman's club. There will be a special service at St. Andrew's Basilica by the Patriarch where Senator Sciorra will swear oath before the church before being seated when the Senate meets on Monday.

Outrage over Akhaltsikhe Sparks as Empire Opens Borders to Refugees

Uroduahan groups through out the empire have taken to the streets of the capital. These protests are related to the latest actions of the Akhaltsikhe government. Earlier this week Secretary of State Carmine Gavallo condemned the apartheid regime. "The oppression and abuse of a group of people for their culture being different than yours is irresponsible. The Talemantine Empire is a majority Christian nation, however, we have a significant Uroduahan minority and a large muslim minority. Unlike Akhaltsikhe in the empire all cultures are free to flourish and worship as they wish. Muslims are not oppressed and Uroduahans are not regulated to ghettos."

"Allah will protect our brothers in Akhaltsikhe and he calls for us to liberate our brethren from the Georgian oppression." shouted Uroduahan Imam Abdullah Al Nubi. Al Nubi is the leader of Free Uroduah an organization that campaigns and protects the rights of Uroduah citizens in the empire. Al Nubi along with his FU compatriots led the protest in Talemaniki to the steps of the Senate door. "For too long have the vile Tetri Tsqaro regime raped the Uroduah people of Akhaltsikhe and this travesty must be stopped. Someone needs to step in now."

In the same day Chancellor Bishop Alexis Florioli announced that the empire will open its borders to Akhaltsikhe refugees. "Any Uroduahan or Georgian that wishes to escape the regime of Tetri Tsqaro will be welcomed into the arms of the empire."

Emperor signs Alliance with Fulanistan

Today following final review by the Consistory the Alliance between Fulanistan and the Talemantine Empire was signed by Emperor Waylon X making the alliance official in the empire. The alliance between the two Himyar states has been in the works for several weeks with several meetings between both governments. However, the issue was strained when Fulanistan applied for membership in the European Defense Federation and suspended talks, but resumed talks and representatives from each government signed the agreement only days before the EDF rejected Fulanistan’s application. Shortly after the alliance treaty was signed Fulanistan ratified the treaty and now the empire has done the same. To commemorate this new alliance between the two states there will be a series of war games in Southern Talemantros.
