Public Statement
23th of December, 1956
To whom it may concern.
Kadikistan has no right to dictate to other countries what nations they are free to recognise and which ones they are not. While this commanding, belligerent attitude is nothing new from the hypocritical neo-Imperialists of the far Left, its magnitude and bluntness are so unprecedented that it warrants a clear and direct response. Let us then deliver it unto the Right Honourable Commissar Leninov: the Koinvoulio's legislators shall vote as they see fit, according to their own conscience and to the interests of the Pelasgian Empire, regardless of the empty threats of Kadikistan's oligarchs, as per their oath. Indeed, the only thing Kadikistan has achieved is to push even more legislators in favour of the proposal, by blatantly disrespecting Pelasgian democracy. Furthermore, there is no grounds whatsoever on which Kadikistan can somehow base the claim that recognising a sovereign, independent state is somehow a "path to war," or that sanctioning a criminal regime, which is not part of Kadikistan's territory or under its jurisdiction is in any way a legitimate casus belli.
All countries have the right to their own independent diplomacy, including Saaremaa, though judging by the fact that Kadikistan has released a statement on the matter, whilst Saaremaa itself has not, we would further question just how independent Saarema is. If Kadikistan fails to recognise this basic fact and chooses to go head first into global war, then it is its own choice to start an unjustified and unjustifiable war, and claims of our sound diplomacy and parliamentary democracy being the "path to war" are nothing but pathetic excuses and propaganda. Pelasgia is forcing nobody's hand; Pelasgia's obligations to come to any compromise with Kadikistan with pertinence to the fashion in which the Empire chooses to conduct its diplomacy begin and end in the the Kalahari. Neither Saaremaa, nor Loago, two different, sovereign states, are in that area, and thus our conduct towards them is not restricted by the Status Quo Treaty. Alas, we are forced to reiterate in the strongest terms that which we have said time and time again: Pelasgia's wish for peace and diplomacy to prevail in Europe should not be mistaken for weakness or even the slightest willingness to appease any and all countries breaching customary international law and blatantly disregarding basic human rights.
Signed and Sealed,
Ikaros Dragases
