The Gladsheim Government released a short statement earlier today:

The Gladsheim Government and the people of Gladsheim are deeply concerned about the developments in Agderike. After consultation with representatives of the Danmark government the Infantry Brigade "Harald Hardrada" has been ordered by the Minister of Defense to get ready for shipment to Danmark. If all goes according to schedule the 5000 men and equipment should arrive at their destination within a week. Once deployed the unit, commanded by Colonel Petr Ahnsen, will be assigned temporarily to the Danish Armed Forces.

BY CHARGE AND WARD OF HIS MAJESTY KING FREDERIK III & I
THE REALMS OF DANMARK, AGDER AND FEY, THE TERRITORIES
AND THE COMMONWEALTH-DOMINION OF GLADSHEIM

DIRECT AND PUBLIC ADDRESS TO THE POPULACE OF AGDER AND FEY

Upon us all is a calamity of the foremost magnitude and foreboding and one that has been slowly gathering about us for some time. As the darkness of clouds of storm gather, it is with dread that events proclaim themselves to be in a state that can only be conservatively, but accurately, described as civil insurrection of a level that both astounds and gives people much heartache.

The Kristiania Lagting has acted in a manner that is singularly obtuse, grotesquely unconstitutional, and wholeheartedly egregious not following any sort of moderate dialogue expected of a limited assembly, with emphasis on the constitutional limitation of its remit.

We had invited representatives of the Kristiania Lagting to attend a Grand Conference, in an act of responsible inclusion, to which the response was unequivocal and flat rejection. This is a sad day for all, not least the Kristiania Lagting. This clear illegality, tolerated to a degree, even putting the original dissolution on ice pending the attempt of consensus and a constitutional agreement that would have freed the whole of the realm from the strife that the Kristiania Lagting seems beset on inflicting on the whole of the peoples of Agder and Fey does not seem anymore appropriate to permit and it simply cannot be permitted due to its blatent acts. Not only did it exceed its powers in seeking an alternative monarch and even went to the extreme of inviting alliances, not that it had those powers in the first place, this is still clearly an act of high treason if ever such a countenance of the term was ever used and we urge all lovers of law to stand against this body and show in no uncertain terms their dedication to the honour, the pride, the peace of Agder and Fey under law.

Under the powers of the Crown inherited from the Late King and in the name of His Majesty the King Frederik I of Agder and Fey, King Frederik III of Danmark, and performed in everyday manner by this the Royal Council of State, the Kristiania Lagting is stripped of all and any remaining powers with
immediate effect. Our prior indication of the legitimate assumption of legislative powers, again as a reminder, always on a limited remit pending talks, shall be assumed by the Lagting, now resident in Hammerfest.

The Royal Council is under the sincere belief that the His Majesty's Army in Agderike and the Hammerfest Lagting of Agder and Fey have chosen legality over illegality, temperance over hotheadedness, respect over rudeness, in essence: right over wrong and we urge sensible and decent people to stand beside them. In upholding the legitimate constitutionality, the army, the Lagting assembly ~ resident in Hammerfest ~ and the Royal Council of State, have all acted correctly as per the constitution, though no doubt there are obvious sensitivities heightened by the civil crisis emerging which we all share.

To you all, we commend the Empire of Sikandara, the Grand Duchy of Potenza, the Kingdom of Eiffelland, the Mezhist Union, High Kingdom of Ivernia and the Parthian Republic for their recognition of legitimacy, their nounce, bravery and stubborn faith in due process, the latter two mentioned nations for efforts at peace and we cannot ignore their calls for a peacekeeping force, following constitutionality, to be invited to the realm of Agder and Fey to buttress efforts.

As part of this peace-keeping effort, even though it has expected complications, the Great Danish Imperium, the territories, and Commonwealth-Dominion, have indicated a desire to adhere to this effort with the Crowns held by the joint sovereign.

First among these peacekeeping efforts from the Scanian brothers, has been the Commonwealth-Dominion of Gladsheim which has dedicated the five-thousand strong Infantry Brigade Harald Hardrada and will be transported from the Gladsheimsk capital and port city of Njordstadt via the Kongelige Danske Marine with immediacy. The Kingdom of Danmark has yet to make a decision on this matter but is expected to make a seperate announcement in due course as I expect others to do likewise.

To you all, the peoples of the joint sovereign in the Dual Monarchy of Danmark, Agder and Fey, GOD SAVE THE KING!

The Republic has stated that we will not look favorably upon intervention in our previous statement.

Thus after an emergency meeting of the Republic's High Command, the Republican Navy has been ordered to immediately begin a quarantine around the waters of Agderike to prevent any military intervention in this conflict. We will take action.

We call upon all nations to remain calm. It is in nobody's interest that this crisis escalates into a new world war. However, it is especially in the interest of the people of Agder and Fey that the civil war ends as soon as possible. We call for an immediate ceasefire, and propose Schloss Köpenick in Trier for discussions between both factions.

AGDER NAVY ACTS AS EUROPE SEEKS PEACEKEEPERS

JORVIK— The international community reacted to the possibility a prolonged bloody civil war in Agderike. Discussion on the transportation of international peacekeeping forces to Agderike to end any possible bloodshed was sparked by the suggestion of Parthava (Media), a nation which was often denounced by King Haakon V. The news was ill-received by both Frederikans and Lovisans which both possess a distaste for the communist nation. Additionally, it sparked debate in the Lagting in Hammerfest as they debated if they had aligned the country with exactly what Haakon V had worked against.

The reaction ended up being quite different hours later, when the Republic of Frescania announced that it would establish a quarantine around the conflict. In all essence, the action is a blockade. Quite similar to the Engellexic reaction just weeks ago, when they decided to limit traffic into the Gothic Sea. The action was immediately condemned by Frederikans, but found a very different reaction in the south due to the proclamation of another actor.

Admiral Braaten of the Navy, would announce another hour after the Frescanian statement, that his Agderike Navy would help enforce the quarantine zone with the Frescanians and effectively run supplies in and out of the quarantine zone for the Lovisans. In his radio broadcasted statement he said, "The moment the Army decided it would be best to consolidate itself behind the Frederikan cause, this debate changed from one of political intrigue, to a conflict of military action. The world understood it as such, and when both sides decided to pick up a gun, it became impossible to try to toe the line. The Navy can no longer sit idle. The world is at our doorstep. I do not pick sides, I am not a politician. Yet I am a countrymen. I am a Nord, through and through. This is a conflict for the Nords to solve and solve it we shall. International actors desiring a Frederikan result is not in our best interests. Our countrymen deserve better. We deserve a Constitution, a means to good health and liberty. I do not care what our country is called, which crown is used or if there is a crowd at all. What I care about is that we are free. Our freedom is paramount, and with my power vested in that of the Navy, to which I was given the ability to lead by none other than King Haakon V himself, I will guarantee our freedom."

The speech he gave garnered high support especially in the south as the country becomes more and more geographically divided. His demand for a Constitution played into the recent demands made by the Republican Congress that took place days ago. The Folkting has not yet answered Republican demands, as they wait for the results of their other endeavors and handle business related to it.

The Army is consolidating near Hammerfest, while Queen Inger Lise is scheduled to meet with Admiral Braaten tomorrow. The Lagting in Hammerfest continues to urge Frederik to take the crown as the Lovisan recruits begin training in Ulriken. Protests in Fey in support of Democracy shut down the city square in Festning Ingeborg.

THE WORLD LOOKS UPON AGDER AS DIALOGUE BEGINS

HAMMERFEST— The Danish Crown begins a new policy in regards to the Agder and Fey Succession in which the Royal Council of Danmark is taking a backseat to King Frederik III's brother, Prince Constantine. Constantine has arrived in Hammerfest to attempt to broker a negotiation between the sides. The effort is seen by many in Agder as a last ditch effort to gain acceptance among the entire populous.

Constantine's Catholic roots are being touted as the major selling point for the Dane, and many have suggested that he is more the natural leader than Frederik III has ever been. Yet the move seems too little, too late for the Danish Crown in their hopes to retain a single Agderike. The fact of the matter is that lines have already been drawn in the sand. The fact that Princess Lovisa has converted to Catholicism and embraced her new role as Queen Inger Lise, has enamored herself to her Catholic base. Another Catholic Prince, or King, if Frederik III were to abdicate, with the so-called constitutional backing may cause a few to change their minds, but in essence Catholics (Lovisans) have made up their mind. Just as Frederikists have already given their undying support for Frederik, this in some of their eyes may suggest to them that Frederik may be considering stepping to the side. If Constantine had arrived closer to Christmas or if Frederik had come straight to Kristiania after Haakon's death, that might have been another story though.

Lovisans are calling Constantine's arrival as a signal that their cause is winning, although in reality nothing has really changed other than the Danish Government outright stating that they will not go to war for their King in Agder or Fey. They have hinted that they may send peacekeeping forces though, which the world has only seen as a possible occupation force, as peacekeepers generally attempt to enforce a peace according to their own image of what is lawful. As such, peacekeepers have been vilified by Lovisans, as only nation states who have refused to recognize Østveg and Queen Inger Lise are in support of sending such a force.

Prince Constantine's offer while theoretically still on the table, has again been rejected by the Folkting, which refuses to meet with the opposing Lagting, citing them as illegitimate to the discussion process, as they should be still working in the Folkting. This viewpoint is that the Lagting is leading an open rebellion against the central government left in place by Haakon V. Queen Inger Lise however has been more open to dialogue among leaders, and has suggested she'd be willing to meet one on one with King Frederik III or Prince Constantine to see if they had any real solutions to the problem at hand.

Other actors, which have been stipulated by the Eiffellandan press, have suggested they are not interested in joining talks. Admiral Braaten has stated that he his readying for a potential full scale war and that his faith has been placed in Queen Inger Lise's decision making. The two met last week to discuss his viewpoints on the potential for civil war, and his politics. Braaten has further stated that he did not have time for diplomatic meetings as the Agder Navy was not a political role player, only a defender of the people and their sovereignty.

Frederikists in hopes to calm down their supporters have continued to suggest that a mediation is soon at hand, and if that fails the Agder Army will then force their victory. Yet, the fact that the Army has not marched south from Hammerfest yet suggests that Frederikists do not believe that an armed struggle will solve their problems. Especially as death tolls hit nearly 2,000 due to the Second Great Fire of Kristiania, as rival supporters did not much shoot at each other, but rather burned down the city killing what is estimated to be several thousand innocent civilians.

While they bide their time, the Lovisans have began training for their own volunteer army in Ulriken with the help of Republican supporters. The same supporters who have now staged riots in Festning Ingeborg, Fey. Fey has now seen a massive Republican movement staged in their capital city. Fey has arguably been hit hardest by the economic crisis and now the problems in Agder have effectively ruined their trade with the mainland. This has worried some in both Frederikist and Lovisan camps if Fey will attempt to breakaway and establish their own Republic. The Lagting representatives from Fey, now in the Folkting, have insisted that Fey will continue its support for Queen Inger Lise, but that Constitutional changes will have to be made upon the completion of the conflict for Fey's full support.

The Republican Congress and subsequently, the Children of the Revolution of 1875 has stated that it is uninterested in working with Danish based tyrants anymore than they were interested in working with Agder based tyrants. Their work with Queen Inger Lise is currently of mutual benefit and they will maintain their faith in her work for the time being.

In general, the Agder Succession Crisis has proven complex and mind-boggling. Republicans gather steam in Fey and the City of Ulriken, and Lovisans and Frederikists maintain a frosty relationship. Prince Constantine's arrival seems too late to get the sides to come together, but if he accepts Queen Inger Lise's invitation to Jorvik for discussion, he may have the ability to change the current course of events. ␃ █

REPUBLICANS GATHER TO DRAFT CONSTITUTION WITH QUEEN

JORVIK — As the Continent seems ready to rush off to war, prominent Republicans joined forces with Her Royal Majesty the Queen of Østveg to come to terms on the establishment of a new Constitution. The failure of a successful Constitutional meeting may throw the support of Republicans into doubt and potentially create a new conflict as the soldiers training in Ulriken subscribe to both Republican and Lovisan camps.

The Constitution writing process is using the Frescanian Constitution as a template, but will seek other avenues for influence as well, including the Sylvanian Constitution and various laws found in Cantignia and Engellex among others. The initial day of work has focused more on using other national examples, but the unique qualities of the Constitution are expected to be worked on over the next week.

Constitutional work comes as Lovisans gather steam, as rumors show that Frederik III of Danmark shall leave the region for Oceania. Although an open letter to Frederik III, has suggested that he wasn't allowed to leave the Gothic Sea until he apologized for the actions of his Foreign Minister Henrik Westerveld. As of recent Westerveld has insulted Engellexic conduct during the Great Augustine War and called for the world to rise up and revolt against its Engellexic masters. His words have been found as insulting in Agder and Fey, where they've been deemed as bourgeois and irresponsible.

The Hammerfest Lagting has been trying to deal with much of the fallout as Army members have been disappearing in the night. Especially soldiers who hail from southern Agderike. They also have to figure out how to move forward. With the blockade and a lack of national wide support, their cause is becoming regional in scope. The question is if they are to reboot their campaign to gain the country's hearts, or if they will seek an alternative future direction?

HAMMERFEST RESPONSE TO CONSTITUTION RUMORS

HAMMERFEST— News of some of the results from the Jorvik Convention, where the Queen Inger Lise of Østveg met with members of the Lagting of Kristiania and Republican Leaders from Ulriken made it across the country as the Constitution is rumored to have been finished.

News came to Hammerfest with a great deal of skepticism, but highlighted the fact that action was needed else they'd outright lose their position. This resulted in Hammerfest electing a new President and a vision for the future.

"We are strangled and things seem grim, but I refuse to believe that our cause has fallen," stated newly elected Hammerfest temporary President Niels Barth. In a speech directed to his peers, President Barth highlighted the undesirable state of affairs the King of Danmark and Agderike had left his country in.

Looking to resurrect what appeared to be a lost cause, he made sweep promises that outlined his hopes to reverse the course. Diplomats have been sent to Parthava, where they urge the Communist Nation to direct their forces to the North and support King Frederik III's cause. President Barth has stated that such a commitment to friendship would lead to Agderike committing troops to freeing Zamosk from the hands of the Talemantine Empire. Furthermore he sent diplomats to Danmark and Potenza. He promises Agder troops to aid Potenzan interests in Solaren in return for their aid, while he insists that Agder's cause is Danmark's cause and that should Frederik III not find a way to claim his crown of Agder and Fey properly, it would only be a matter of time before Danish interests would fall across the globe.

Barth wasn't finished on his first day on the job. He petitioned King Frederik III for a Danish Field Marshall to direct the troopsand win any possible incoming civil war. Echoing Danish sentiments, Barth promised that after stability had been accomplished he'd commission an election for the maintenance of the Danish King or a path to Republicanism. His path to Republicanism statement comes after rumors have suggested that a clause exists in the new Østwegian Constitution to build a path to a Republic.

The Hammerfest President has suggested in his speech that Politiken was in the hands of the Kristianian elite, and in the pocket of the darling Inger Lise, imposter Queen.

Hammerfest's announcement has reached Republicans, who ultimately desire the Republic and may not like the idea of supporting a new Queen. Although some Republicans have dismissed Barth's statements as ultimately as a ploy to their interests, there are many who support him now in Ulriken. Rumors of a possible fracturing of Republicans in Ulriken are starting to spread.

Some have suggested this is why Queen Inger Lise hasn't released any copies of the supposedly finished Constitution to the public yet, as it may further fracture the Republican camp. Although sources have suggested that some writers in the AP may have found themselves a copy from an anonymous source.

The situation in Agder is rapidly changing as a Constitution would be seen as legally binding the nation and ultimately be a rejection of the State of Agderike. An advancement to a new crown and era. Not everyone may be ready for this kind of change yet. ␃ █

LITTLE LIV GIVES HOPE TO ADGER

VESPER — As Agderike lay surrounded by foreign vessels and foreign Kings gambling with their future, the populous can take solace in at least one girl who is getting it done abroad. 23 year old, Liv Skjeldbreid found a way to make the travel to Cantignia. A weeks long trip with a combination of air and sea to find her way to one of the premiere tennis tournaments in the world. The tournament gained notoriety last year when it was opened to foreign competitors and Götarikes Markus Lindbäck was crowned champion. This year he won't repeat after his first round elimination. It's rumored that the long travel time and the difficulty it is taking Skandians to get there, much less leave the region due to the conflict has not given them the best possible situation to compete. Some Skandians only arriving the day before the tournament started.

Miss Skjeldbreid, from Jorvik arrived on the same day as her match. She worked hard to defeat her opponent Alice O'Shaughnessy from Ivernia in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Liv who could be considered a pioneer for the game in Agder has worked hard to also promote tennis for women in Agder. Learning how to play from the radio and practicing against a wall, she won the Agderiker Royal Tournament last summer and quickly got the nod to travel to Cantignia this year.

Her efforts have been rewarded as she has now gone further than any Agder national before. Her exploits now giving hope to a nation which is under siege.

Asked about the conflict she could only say, "My mother and father have worked very hard to give me a good and strong upbringing. I'm not inclined to speak politics with you all, but I love my country dearly and however she wavers, from now until I die, she shall still be my country."

She readies herself as the last Nordic hope for a title as Antonia Jordansson from Götarikes fell once again to her rival Ileana Lukashenko, and Agder countrymen Henrik Rønning dropped in four sets to Dorin Mihailov. Both opponents are from communist Parthava, and there are growing concerns that they may be using some kind of performance enhancing drugs. Henrik Rønning figured it could be possible, and that perhaps it may require non-communists to find ways to match such high performances as Parthavans have performed well globally in all sporting events as of late.

Little Liv, as Miss Skjeldbreid has been named from her supporters in Jorvik will likely face a tough upcoming match. However it can do her some comfort that World Number One, Claire Meadows was knocked out of the tournament unexpectedly in the first round much like Mr. Lindbäck.

An Inside Look: Many Nords prefer to look apolitical in society in order to prevent unnecessary conflict. This stems from an older era in which differences could prompt feuds, brawls or other unsavory events which often resulted in terrible deaths in worst of times. Nords aren't keen on taking sides quite yet as many worry that a renewed absolute monarchy could imprison naturals to spoke out against the regime. Liv's answer to a political question might seem like she's unable or unwilling to take a stance, but in all honesty her words may protect her family back home and her own reputation.

ØSTWEGIANS WELCOME SYLVANIANS
ULRIKEN — Sylvanian goods and troops have begun to arrive in the city of Ulriken, known as the Republican-Lovisan stronghold where the Østwegian Militia trains. Sylvanians have brought with them their own rifles which they've begun training the militia to use. Their guns making what they are calling the iconic "Sylvanian Ping!" that lets you know when the gun has exhausted its clip of bullets. The gun has proven popular with the troops especially due to its higher rate of fire from most of the guns available to the militia beforehand.

The militia is a rag-tag group of civilians and Army deserters who would rather fight for the side that they hail from. Often Ulriken, Jorvik and even Kristiania based boys head south to supplement the militia. Training is largely in target practice, marches, tactics and conditioning.

Sylvanians are doing a fair share of learning themselves. Without a sizable mechanized force, and with thick forests and mountains, skiing is almost a requirement to be in the Army. The Sylvanians are learning how to handle skis and poles while still being able to shoot straight. A great rapport has developed in the camp, as recent news from Hammerfest seems to leave no ill-effect on the moral of the Østwegian militia.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Queen Inger Lise plans to visit the men herself and see how everyone is holding up. Her visit is stirring up high emotion even among the Republican supporters which would like to meet their leader for the first time.

Inger Lise is additionally expected to make a speech in front of all of them what her secretary has called an appeal to the world for the proper course of action in Agder and Fey. The response is expected to feature a rebuttal to the recent letter seen by King Frederik III that has circulated among the international community and recently reported on in the Slavic lands to the east.

A massive fleet of Danish ships threatens to break open the Cold War of Succession as neither side in Agder wishes to put themselves at a disadvantage, or find themselves in a position from which they cannot retreat from. It would seem that Hammerfest is hoping the Danes can help them, but no international support has been given to their pleas thus far.

From the Royal International Brotherhood of Neo-Reactionists,

It is regretful that the fear of war and bloodshed looms ever closer with the Kingdom of Agderike. This escalation, as fleets from various ideologies join the conflict one by one, is presenting an unsure and frightening future for the people of Agderike and the history of the nobility there.

Such violence is counterproductive to the role of the nobility among the societies of the world. Nobles are enlightened leaders of the state, not street thugs vying for street corners. We ask that all parties involved resolve this through the historical, traditional routes that have been taken by predecessors and to follow the standards in place before unnecessary conflict erupts.

We especially ask those in our Danic brotherhood to use their influence upon the state to avoid the spilling of blood which might undo, not advance, the cause of nobility in Europe.

ADMIRAL BRAATEN AND GENERAL LØVENSKIOLD DISCUSS PEACE TERMS

HAMMERFEST — The nation was sent into a frenzy as news came that Admiral Braaten docked one of his ships, the KAM Ulriken off the coast of Hammerfest and General of the Army Rikard Løvenskiold came on board the Ulriken for the beginning of military led dialogue to find a solution to the end of the Agder Succession Crisis.

The move completely bypasses the Parliamentary bodies in Kristiania and Hammerfest, but may hold the ultimate card. A few speculated that the joint forces of the military could end the battle by staging a coup and installing their own Government. This however seemed unlikely as Admiral Braaten was in attendance at the Constitutional meetings and seems to have befriended Queen Inger Lise.

The meeting occurs just a day after violence erupted outside of Hammerfest, as soldiers wrestled with farmers displeased they couldn't gain easy access to markets for the various supplies they demanded. Løvenskiold stated that the events that had progressed over the last month had weighed heavily on his mind, but that his oath had come first. "I took an oath to the Agder Crown... but as things have progressed, I know that my oath may not be what is best for the people."

His words come as a strong sense that violence may soon cease and that peace may be enforced by the military. The meetings have not yet finished, but the initial terms have been announced with a permanent cease-fire. Talks on board the naval vessel continue though, and it is expected that news should be announced soon as developments continue.

BRAATEN APPOINTED CHANCELLOR

KRISTIANIA — After the announcement of the new Kingdom of Østveg, it became clear that the new Constitution required that a Cabinet be appointed and a Chancellor to lead it be employed. As the Folkting is an underpopulated and incomplete body prior to upcoming elections scheduled for February 15th, Her Royal Majesty decided that Admiral Kristian Braaten, would now become Chancellor Braaten.

"This is a temporary decision, as I have no intent to remain in politics. This does signal the end of my involvement in the Navy though," stated Chancellor Braaten.

As candidates prepare themselves for Østveg's first democratic elections, the a keen eye would note that his daughter will be running for a seat in the Folkting in from the Braaten's home ranch, Dronningensfjorden.

Chancellor Braaten has stated that has the first Chancellor, he sees it as his objective to re-establish the nation on the international circuit, and establish key relationships and alliances with those who have assured the Austwegian people their own right to self-determination.

Dissent still does exist, but many of them have now elected to take the first planes out of the country to Danmark. There they wish to establish a government in exile, for the now removed Kingdom of Agderike.

Braaten has stated that previous involvement in the Agderike movement will not be punished; but subsequent involvement will be treated as traitors to the Constitution and people of Østveg.

BRAATEN LOOKS WEST TO SYLVANIA

KRISTIANIA — As Østveg has slowly introduced itself to the world, a not surprisingly small group of nations has recognized the nation: Sylvania and Frescania. The small group is an odd collection as they are Republics, and it was expected that several monarchies may be willing to accept a new monarchy from the Suionian branch. It has been seen as an insult to the Nordic world in a sense as Queen Caroline of Suionia has been in relative outrage against the Danish led Monarchist Group, while her sister and our Queen Inger Lise has dismissed the failure of recognition as nothing more than a continuation of the politics of the "European Left".

This snub has forced the new Kingdom to go westward first. Chancellor Braaten has decided to fly immediately to Charleroi, Sylvania will a proposition of a mutual defense alliance. He will also question when Sylvania plans to bring their troops home, and if they shall stay for some time if they will assist in putting down Danish led rebels. Braaten has decided that success or failure he will follow it up with a trip to Fortaleza Real, Frescania to discuss similar terms of alliance.

Afterwards he hopes to travel to Dulwich to discuss terms of recognition. He found it disappointing that Engellex was so friendly during the course of the crisis, yet has delayed in terms of official recognition.

This westward push is not only involved with political alliance building, but also via a discussed westward company to kick start trade and aid in anti-Danish security of the North Thaumantic Sea. The Folkting has discussed this as a privately operated, but publicly funded company.

Such dreams of democratically funded security and trade will surely not aid Østveg in her dreams of global recognition.

Recognition has been a difficult subject for many nations, as they have decided to continue to recognize the Kingdom of Agderike as the legitimate government body in the region. Yet the Crown for this nation has been declared abolished recently by the Folkting and the former Crown has been stored away in the Natonal Museum. The Folkting has suggested that hostile relations or at least surely less amicable relations will continue to exist with the Danes until the Danish Parliament demand that their King drop the Agder and Fey title from their names and additionally evict the so-called government in exile from Christiansborg.

It is expected that Queen Inger Lise shall respond to Danish announcements following her victory speech before Friday, but she believed to be without rush as formal relations do not exist between the two nations.

Like stated before, we have decided not to take sides in this conflict. At this moment, recognising Østweg as the legitimate successor of the Kingdom of Agderike would imply choosing a side in a conflict that we don't want to take part in. This also means that we won't recognise the Government in exile to be formed in Danmark as the legitimate successor of the Kingdom of Agderike, either.

REPUBLICAN PARTY ANNOUNCES PLATFORM

KRISTIANIA — The Republican Party opened the election season with the announcement of their platform and the appointment of the leader of their party. Jørgen Pedersen from Ulriken came out with a harsh criticism of the establishment of the Monarchy, and a notion that Østveg would be recognized by more parties if it were a Republic. While his criticisms were sharp, they were not the platform of his party.

The Republicans announced that they'd work to advance the future of Republicanism, but that ultimately they'd campaign this election cycle on income equality and proper welfare systems to even out the playing field among the populous.

"Austwegians just don't have the proper living standards for a country of our ingenuity," said Pedersen, "there is no way that we can engage in a proper democracy, much less Republic, without improving the living standards for our people. Not on the crutch of the Danish crown like the Frederikists desired, but homemade sensible welfare."

The other parties, the Monarchist Party which is an offshoot of the Frederikist movement are expected to released their own statements tomorrow. Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats and Independent Fey Party are expected to follow up over the weekend.

Republicans are expected to receive foreign boosts and endorsements from Sylvania and Frescania, leading many to wonder how democratic the system really is, if foreign intervention plays a role in the elections.

Queen Inger Lise has stated that she believes foreign meddling will be limited, and election results will be respected internationally. Meanwhile, Her Majesty's current government is adding pressure upon Frescania to lift their blockade and maintain a high security alert in the Gothic Sea. Chancellor Braaten, who is currently trying to secure a defensive alliance with Sylvania in Charleroi is expected to visit Frescania next to apply added pressure.

BRAATEN ACCEPTS SYLVANIAN TERMS IN PRINCIPLE

CHARLEROI — Chancellor Braaten left Sylvania early this morning with a smile on his face. It would appear his efforts have yielded results, in that he has been able to secure a mutual defense alliance with the Sylvanian Government and President Rygaard.

The terms were by no means secretive, as Østveg would have to share the "Flaskan" jet fighter specifications. Of course this proved problematic as the creator of Flaskan, is ultimately owned by Krag-Jørgensens Vaabenfabrik (KJV). The Government, unable to convince KJV to agree to the terms, then decided to nationalize the firm in some respects. The Government bought a 50% stake in the company, and then authorized the transaction of the documents and means to produce Flaskan. In return, this erased a good portion of Østveg's debt and secured Braaten the defense alliance he so coveted.

Many Monarchists have derided the purchase as the beginning of Communism and the ultimate downfall of the Nordic people. Chancellor Braaten has responded with what he has called, Statskapitalisme (State Capitalism), which is not a new term, but certainly a new application of such for a region which has never seen it in practice.

While ultimately whether or not these policies continue will largely be in the hands of the incoming Folkting, it has been deemed a success in the application of the alliance. What has been termed the Anti-Danish Sea Alliance (antidanske sjøallianse) in local papers, has made the talks and agreement a celebration of Austwegian sovereignty.

Of course, while Braaten has accepted the terms, a motion will be brought up in the Folkting and if it passes there, it will be moved on to Førsteting and then the Queen for her signature. What that means, is that elections will have to commence and be completed before the deal can be fully approved. Braaten has assured President Rygaard that the Riksforsamlinga (term for both houses of Parliament), would pass the motion and that Queen Inger Lise would attach her signature soon thereafter. Elections are scheduled to take place on February 15th.

The news has also allowed Braaten to move onwards to Fortaleza Real, where he will question President Rodriguez on the situation in Fey, and the possibility of another defensive alliance. With elections in a little over a week, it is possible that a new Chancellor will have been elected by the time Braaten returns home.

A NORTHERN TENNIS OPEN?

DRONNINGENSFJORDEN SLOTTET — As Østveg slowly works to assert itself on the international forum, Queen Inger Lise I has decided that with how successful the Cantigian Open was last month that the sport needed to be expanded and brought in a more official capacity to Skandia.

As such, she has gone out of her way to look for a proper tennis club to play host to what she wants to be the first Northern European tennis major. Last year, only two majors took place: the Cantigian Open and the Zulia-Santander Open, which was held in the Frescanian Occident. It is assumed that the Zulia-Santander Open may not return due to a lack of funding as the previous edition of the tournament struggled to attract players from around the world.

Her Royal Majesty has apparently narrowed down the venue to either Jorvik's Royal Tennis Club and Julianehåb's All-Man's (public) Tennis Club. Additionally it appears she may have achieved the support of Cantigian Claire Meadows to sponsor the tournament and assure the presence of the sport's biggest personalities.

Thus it would appear that Her Royal Majesty has been able to give the sport another major tournament. The only question now is what it is to be called? Names such as the Nordic Open or the Polar Open have proven popular in the public. If the tournament is held in Julianehåb, some have suggested the All-Man's Open.

Regardless of name, northern tennis stars such as Markus Lindback have also vocalized their support. The Cantigian Open darling, Liv Skjeldbreid is currently training in Cantignia and could not be reached for her opinion. She is what seems to be the beginning of a professional woman in the sporting field. Her stories abroad have been the inspiration for girls across Østveg.

SUCCESSFUL ELECTIONS, REPUBLICANS WIN LARGEST SHARE BUT NOT GOV'T

DRONNINGENSFJORDEN SLOTTET — Liberal Right Party leader Solveig Bakken met immediately with Queen Inger Lise upon the completion of the previous night's elections as her Liberal Right Party (Liberal Høyre - 16 seats) took the second most number of seats in the election and a comprehensive victory thanks to their party alliance with the Conservative Party (Konservativpartiet - 7 seats) and the Monarchist Centre Party (Monarkistiske Senterpartiet - 14 seats). She was sworn in immediately as Chancellor, and as constitutionally stipulated, she choose her replacement in the Folkting as Cabinet members are not allowed to serve in the Folkting while they are members of the Government.

Her party in close alliance with the Monarchists took a majority of 31 seats in the 60 seat Folkting, and the Conservatives joined them, being ideologically opposed to the more leftist Republican Party (Republikanske partiet - 21 seats) and the Labor Party (Den nordske Arbeiderparti - 1 seat).

Taking on the position of Chancellor as appointed by Her Royal Majesty Queen Inger Lise I, Chancellor Solveig Bakken hugged former-Chancellor Kristian Braaten and promised to fulfill her constitutional duties as Chancellor and defender of the Austwegian people.

In her late night victory speech, she spoke on fulfilling the work of former-Chancellor Braaten and accepting the agreements made with both the Republic of Sylvania and the Republic of Frescania in which the plans of the Flaskan and the implementation of a Frescanian military base on Fey would both be adhered to in acceptance of defense treaties. The work which was highlighted as the "Antidanske sjøallianse" or Anti-Danish Sea Alliance, highlights the importance of the future foreign policy for the Austwegian state in which opposing the Danes in the Thaumantic and Gothic Seas would take utmost priority.

Chancellor Bakken is the second woman to take the highest democratic seat of power in the world, after the Cantigian pioneer Veronica North who recently was awarded as Person of the Year by Euromagazine. The Chancellor would highlight the importance and value of women in Østveg and Cantignia where said she believed true equality would be the shining light for the two nations and scores of women to aspire to across the globe.

Bakken is expected to overhaul foreign policy expectations and announced she'd be re-opening embassies in Frescania, Sylvania and Parthava immediately. She is furthermore expected to fly soon to Cantignia and then to Engellex in a bid to gain recognition from who she deemed as natural allies in the fight for Austwegian freedom and democracy. She joked, she'd visit Christianborg if they'd have her, but she'd sooner return home in a casket if she did.

Solveig is a young woman, at the age of twenty-one. A young democracy, a large variety of citizens from the ages of as young as nineteen to as old as forty-seven ran for office. She gained the leadership for the Liberal Right party by being a founder of the party at the University of Kristiania and subsequently helping take the party's platform on a national stage. As a young woman on the streets of Kristiania in what is considered the biggest conflict region of the Agder Succession Crisis, she witnessed unspeakable acts of violence and vandalism, which she attributed to helping her shape her Conservative values.

The Republican Party described her as apologetic to the status quo the capitalist upper-classes which were robbing the populous of the country blind. Their message may or may not have worked, as it seems if anything her ability to campaign put her party in a stronger position than the Monarchists in Agder, which was largely unexpected. Her non-attachment to the Monarchists gave her stronger results in Fey than expected, and ultimately prevented a Monarchist party out of the role as chief power on the political stage. Instead the monarchists play second-fiddle to Chancellor Bakken, and have to accept her terms, else the Government may collapse and place the Republicans in a position to make Government.

She was considered a slightly risque for many older attendees at Party Headquarters, which gave the environment a youthful exuberance that was seen as very appealing to both republicans and monarchists alike. She treads a thin line between the two interest groups, and may be the best solution for a divided country.

VESPER, 16th FEBRUARY 1952

THE Friendly Confines are glad to extend a well-deserved and overdue recognition of Queen Inger Lise, the Patriotic Peoples of Østveg,, and their chosen Chancellor - Madame Solveig Bakken. We remain impressed with the bravery of Austwegian Patriots after shaking off the shackles of a vague Danish ethnic persuasion, and boldly empowering their true north genes, strong and free from the designs of a castrated king.

Chancellor Veronica North of the Grand Covenant of Cantignia offers her full support and friendship to Chancellor Solveig, the second woman to be democratically elected alongside Madame North. Though her own heritage hails from Suionian and Engellexic sources, Madame North considers the Austwegian creature a momentous race, capable of many great feats in a guarded future.

Forward !
Harriet Fauconberg,
Chief Officer
